I have worked with Billy Bell on four separate occasions for four separate issues. He is the best plumber I have ever worked with. My family has a houseboat at Lanier. We were having issues with our waste tanks not getting pumped out fully because there was a blockage between the tanks. After having the marina plumber, Pootoon, and another plumber all try and fail, and tell me that I had to replace the tanks, i was at my wits en. I happened to drive by Billys office and called him. He came out himself, explained the problem in clear English and met me at a boat ramp and fixed my problem for a reasonable price. The next time was when our septic stopped up. Again, he came out himself, immediately and got it fixed. Last month, we had an issue with backup in our bunkhouse. When we bought the house, the original septic inspector couldn't find the septic tank to the barn and he brought a super long camera and charged hundreds of dollars but never found it. Billys crew found it very quickly and had to pump it, fix the top of it and install a new drain field. thats expensive. But I asked a contractor how much it would cost with his plumber and he quoted me $3000 more than Billy charged me. This most recent visit was because the supply line to my jacuzzi tub failed and flooded my basement. We called Billy and came out after hours, figured out the issue and got us with a great restoration company. I really can't say enough good things about Billy Bell and his people. They are reasonable, nice, professional, and they know what they are doing. At this point, I wouldn't call anyone else if I have another plumbing problem. read more

Totally a rip off. First they wanted a service fee of $350 just to drive to my house. Then they look at it they seen it my rental house and they know I have to get the water back on asap. They then hand me a contract for nearly $1000. Stupid me signed it cause I already out $350 for sevice fee. It turns out all they did was put in 2 elbows and 1 foot of pex pipe. Jeez...I was robbed. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else, and look for no sevice fee or at least a reasonable amount, if the hand you a contract before work is done remember you can say no. read more

I had Billy Bell come out and look at my well. When the guy got there, I pointed out a leak that had started. He took a scoop of dirt out and found a hole in the water spigot right outside the well house. It was also connected to an old line. He told me he was going to cap it since it wasn't going anywhere, and also that he would pull the well pump up, inspect it, and cycle it three times. He said it would cost $1,475, and I agreed. But when all was said and done, all he did was cap the line and check the pressure in the pressure tank -- no work was done on the well pump. The next day, I called the owner, Billy, to try and talk to him about it, but he just wanted to argue and tell me that what I was saying wasn't true. He claimed the GPS showed his guy was there for six hours, when in reality he was only there from 9 to 11 -- and even left for an hour in the middle of that to go buy a tape measure. I called Billy Bell because our well quit working, they are located nearby, and I wanted the issue resolved the same day. A 2 man crew came out that day and after about 20+ minutes diagnosed the problem as the section of uninsulated pipe at the well head that was above ground had frozen solid. A few minutes of heating with a propane torch solved that problem. The tech also checked the pressure switch and storage tank, and told me we have a bad well pressure switch. The charge to diagnose the problem was $285 and the charge, including the diagnosis, to thaw the pipe and replace the switch was $975. I objected to the price and was told that is the rate, and to call the office. The tech offered that if I gave two 5 star reviews on Google, the office would send me a $100 check. The crew left to get a switch and came back an hour and a half later. The switch was replaced and water flow restored. i don't believe the switch was bad as until the pipe froze due to the extended cold we hadn't had any issue. The tech also pointed out a small amount of existing CPVC piping at the tank should be replaced because in his words it became brittle with age and could develop a pinhole. I called the office twice to talk to the owner and was unable to reach him. My assessment is that this company overcharges and takes advantage of situations where a repair is desperately needed. They tried to upsell me on additional work that wasn't immediately needed. The tech was polite and seemed to be thorough, but $975 for a simple repair is too much and I was taken advantage of. I cannot recommend Billy Bell Plumbing as I don't trust that they would be fair in terms of pricing or necessary scope of work. read more

I called Billy Bell to come out and pump my septic tank. They came out next day and saw what I had and gave me an estimate of $1895 to pump my 1000 gallon tank. The last time I had it pumped was five years ago and it was $350. I know prices keep going up but not that much so I asked them to leave. Jason told me that they would roll the $300 they charged me just to come to my house (they were here for 15 minutes) into the cost of changing the water Pressure Regulator Valve that would be $650 more. I told him I had to talk to my spouse and when I called him back to question the cost since I found one on amazon for less than $60, He told me that they were professionals and that was the going rate in the state well I called three other places and it isn't the rate. The Ferb quality answered all my questions. both those young men, as well as other staff was informative, could answer my questions took patient with me since I am a senior citizen. They worked hard to try to find the leak and did everything they could to locate exactly where it was coming from. Fortunately, the leak was caused by a leaky toilet, which they fixed. Unfortunately, the toilet had ran for around 80 hours before I was notified by the city. Our pump failed and we called several plumbers, all offering appointments days later. Billy Bell sent a truck right away. Two guys showed up in a Billy Bell truck. They went to work on this senior citizen with the talking. Eventually they showed a work order and asked me to sign it before they started work. It had an 'estimate' on it that was way over priced but it was just an estimate. The job would be based on time and materials was what I understood. A check was given as a payment but was explained as just to get the job going, the real invoice would be paid afterwards. We are out of water, senior citizens and need the water back on asap. They were gone for 3/4 of the rest of the day while they went to the 'supply house' to get a pump and materials. When they returned they pulled materials off the truck, did the job and then wanted another check to complete payment. The story changed to I signed a contract to pay the entire estimated price. The 'demanded' the rest in a posture that reminded us of a threat. They refused to put in the well seal to keep out critters and bugs and left. We paid $3750 on their $4500 demand for a 1500.00 job. A $500 dollar pump and 2 hours work for 2 guys. The well is still unsealed after many requests for them to return. Leave a message that is never returned routine that a lot of crooks use. If it looks like senior abuse it is senior abuse. Two citizens in their 70s getting fleeced for a water emergency and the well is still unsealed after 2 years. Can't say that I understand the negative reviews; Drake and Nick were professional, communicative and considerate. We called Billy Bell Plumbing on Feb 9, 2023 to unclog our sink. When they arrived , they told my wife the service charge would be $285. After unhooking the drain pipes they told her , because of the grease buildup, the charge would be $1300. She did not know what to do because everything had been unhooked, so she said , go ahead. They used a snake to unclog the drain and used a treatment substance. She paid the bill with a credit card. After I got home , she told me what the charge was. We could not believe the one hour they were in the house justified a $1300 bill. We have attempted to reach the owner to discuss the issue, but he refuses to take our call. The next morning the plumbers Cosy and Joss stopped by the house. They looked at the meter and determined the problem was in the main water line. So he immediately said I needed a new water line for $8,763.00 USD!! He didn't even look for the leak!. I contacted the plumber that had just left the house he informed me that he was at another job already and that he would have to charge me another $400 to come back. Called Billy Bell this morning for repair of water leak at my water meter, actually it was the pipe connection into meter. Paid $295 service fee for weekend service fee which I understood. The repair took 12 minutes, I timed them and consisted of cutting 12 inches of pipe, and reconnecting with two brass connectors. Total cost $935!! If I had the time I could have repaired myself for less than $50. I had to do it because I had a 20plus people coming to watch football. They all agreed price was OUTRAGEOUS and based on my experience they ALL will not use Billy Bell. Learn from my mistake and read the reviews because they are true. Brandon did the work satisfactorily, the other guy, Bill, who quoted the price from their "rate book" . As soon as I questioned the price, told Brandon to collect the service fee and leave. Do not use this company. I was charged 1450.00 for a hot water tank including expansion tank. There is no expansion tank!! They come out and invent repairs, usually the same one over and over. they stretch their time out to add more hours, including their lunch hour. read more

They quoted me $385 to assess my well issue. I agreed, but the charge was actually $400. The assessment was that I had a 50ft well with 20ft of water and to replace everything except the pressure tank would be $4600. That's a bit higher than the national average, so I decided to buy the parts at a big box store for around $1500 and did the work myself... based on their assessment. Here's the problem: the well isn't 50ft deep and there is only 3ft of water in it. They used a tape measure to test depth of well and depth of water, so you can imagine how surprised I was when I did the same thing with a weight and a rope. A total of 3ft of water... NOT 20ft. Really big difference. They have a lot of competitors in their area, so you have plenty of resources. They'll show up right away, use small talk to see how much they can charge you, then stick it to you. Best part? They called a few days later asking for a Google reference! I'm NOT kidding! I'd be really suspicious of their Google reviews... except for the 1-star review that has pictures of their shoddy workmanship. read more

WARNING!!! Do NOT use Billy Bell Plumbing!!! Their slogan should actually be "call Billy Bell if you want to scream and yell". We were trying to support a local business and called him to fix an issue we were experiencing. The nitty gritty details are boring and not important. We stupidly did not look into him as if we had done so we would have quickly found he is an unethical, con artist that preys on people (especially disabled, women and elderly persons) in time of need. Let's face it, functioning plumbing in your home is a big deal that needs addressing fairly quickly. His Yelp reviews contain lengthy testimonials of example after example of the same type of scams over and over. He has an F rating with the BBB and is not allowed to be a member. The BBB site also contains story after story from other customers he has conned, scammed, threatened, overcharged, did shoddy work for, caused damage in their homes, etc... Part of his mode of operation is that he gives a price for the job and then when in the middle of it starts adding fees and making up other charges. After paying him $5500 over two days and thinking he was going to come back and finish on a 3rd day he instead showed up with two new estimates - one for almost 8K and one for almost 28K on top of what was already paid!!!!! I stopped payment on the checks I had already given him so that we could work out how to move forward, pay him for the work he did complete and get estimates for the damage he caused (I'll discuss that shortly). Needless to say we called for a second opinion. Both of the plumbers that came out (Banks Plumbing - but they only do outside work so they referred us to Innovative Plumbing) said he has exactly the reputation we saw online within their service industry and shared numerous stories of their own about his lack of ethics. Innovative Plumbing was able to fix the issue for 1K and it's worked great ever since. As for the damage he caused - he turned on a shower to check that a drain pipe was unclogged and walked away. This caused an overflow situation and it flooded our downstairs bathroom directly below where he was working. We had to spend $1100 to get it fixed. We didn't realize the extent of the damage for several days as the sheetrock started to absorb the water between the floors. Billy denied overflowing the upstairs bathroom when we tried to speak to him later to resolve the billing. When the incident happened my husband was talking to one of Billy's assistants when they both heard the overflowing water and ran to shut it off. We had to use 11 towels to clean up the mess below so it was not a small amount of water. We are involving the courts and due to where we live and where he operates we've had to go between both Hall and Forsyth. I've found he is VERY well known in both the courts and their employees, and that is not a compliment. I am sharing our experience in hopes that no one else gets involved with Billy Bell Plumbing. And please, always check out people you hire using online resources. We very rarely break this rule but the one time we did we were burned. Came and repaired the shower cartridge today and quoted me outrageous amount for less than 10 minutes of work. Since it was an emergency I had to bite the bullet and paid for the installation. During this Covid time, both technicians showed up without a mask. I supplied all the parts for them as they came without anything, not even any accessories for being a plumbing experts. Total rip off as a company. I called looking for a company to change out a garbage disposal that I knew needed to be replaced. The technician told me there was a $220 dollar assessment charge even though, I told him what needed to be done but it would be charged to the repair cost. He arrived at my house and confirmed that it needed to be replaced and told me the parts were roughly $400 for the disposal. The total to replace the disposal would be $1100 which I felt was super high but proceeded to let him change it out. The work was completed in roughly 30 mins and it does work fine but I do feel taken advantage of and price gouged. Then turns out the disposal was only $120. We called Billy Bell because we had a clogged drain, he was responsive and came within a few hours. He removed our toilet and began to run the snake to break up the clog. The machine seemed to be struggling so he was jerking it around pretty hard. Then he said something broke and he thought he had it fixed so he started running water, well it wasn't fixed and flooded the bathroom and went downstairs and flooded the ceiling of the bathroom downstairs. Now what a mess. Then he ran a camera down the pipe and said that the clog was outside. He dug a hole, found the clog and said that our septic was no good. He was here about 6-7 hours over the course of 2 days. We were charged $5500. He said to fix the problem the cost would be between 8000 and 28,000. We stopped payment on the $5500 check when we found out it should have been around $1800. We are now heading to court for damages. STAY AWAY FROM BILLY BELL PLUMBING !!!!!
