Caketastic!

They may indeed sell sambos and panini and all manner of lunch things but really, if it is a cake you want or a fresh cream slice... this THE place to go in the Rathgar / Tererenure area. Nuff said.

Brioche and blueberry bake with bacon

Came here today with a group including my two small children for brunch. Everything was delicious, I had order envy when I saw the eggs benedict and the vegetarian breakfast. However my own order was delicious - blueberry brioche bake with pecans, maple syrup and proper crispy bacon, think bread and butter pudding but not gross and gloopy, in fact nice and doughy and delicious. I was slightly dissappointed with the kids order as I specifically asked what sort of pancakes they were and was told the smaller American style and what actually came out were a thick crepe - think traditional Irish mammy pancakes and the kids hated them, they had toast and sausages! Overall though a great experience and will be back for brunch again,

Good bye New Year's Resolutions!! Hello Bijou!!! The first time I went into this deli was a few year ago, when it was under a different name. At that time the brownie I bought was so good, that my friend and I stopped back in on the way home from our walk (yes we were trying to be healthy! ha!) and bought some more pastries to bring home. The name has now changed, but the goods they offer are still absolutely delicious and just thinking about them now is making my mouth water! When I popped in again today, they did something that I didn't think was possible, they got better, they added more cakes and pastries. YUM. If you're not a major chocoholic/sweettooth like me they've got equally delicious savoury items as well! Say goodbye to your waistline!

We went here for brunch on Sunday and was really impressed with both the food and the price. Portions are large and the menu had loads to choose from. I got the blueberry and bacon brioche and was really impressed. My partner had the eggs benedict and she loved it as well (she also got two on her plate, which some places might not do!) We stayed after for a prosseco cocktail and it was absolutely amazing! We went up for about 1pm on a Sunday and it wasnt busy at all, however they asked us if we had a reservation so maybe give them a ring before hand just in case we got a quiet day!

I went there for brunch on Sunday. I also know they do lunch and dinner. The only reason why I don't put 5 stars is because they asked us to be done in 45' which I think is a bit short for a Sunday brunch. However I have to say the eggs benedict were served on a soft crumpet and it was absolutely delicious. Staff was very nice but unfortunately no time to try something sweet.

This is my one stop shop for coffee, lunch and snacks in Rathgar. I have only been into the cafe on the corner and not the bistro, but if the deli food is anything to go by I say the bistro is better. at lunch they have a great selection of salad boxes for 5EUR - you get to choose 4 salads and they are very generous - also filling. The chicken salad with grapes is my absolute favourite!! They also have lasagne and quiches...etc. Their rolls are so fresh and crispy and sometimes warm just out of the oven.. The coffee is yum and they have a couple selections of Gluten free treats along with pastries and cakes to have. Love this place... though my bank account does not! :P

On our last day in Dublin, we had an early dinner at Platform 61, which we discovered through Yelp…read more-- so not quite a best-kept secret, but certainly a terrific hangout on South William Street. Usually, the dining room comprises an underground hideaway that is quite sleek and intimate. However, due to the lockdown measures, we had to do outdoor seating directly on William Street while we were there. The experience was still beautiful, thanks to the surrounding scenery. The cocktails were grand between the P61 Signature Cocktail and the Hugo -- both prosecco-based cocktails. The former was delicious between the peach puree and prosecco, while the latter was a little more tart with the elderflower cordial. For dinner, we kicked things off with gluten-free bread with a trio of dips that were quite tasty. The Tortellini I ordered was exquisite and scrumptious with how it was prepared between the goat cheese, asparagus, red onion, wilted spinach, cream sauce, and bacon. I applauded this lovely dish with the last bite. I devoured the warm almond flour brownie for dessert, served with chocolate sauce and gelato, which my wife could also enjoy since the dish was gluten-free. Overall, Platform 61 was a great way to conclude our second Irish journey. We will return, especially to enjoy the underground dining area.

Something must have changed drastically in the establishment because I was simply astonished at the…read morecombination of how bad & mediocre my dining experience was. For starters it was some of the worst service I have ever encountered and certainly the worst service for a Michelin Bib Gourmand. For starters my server was ill acquainted with the menu. She had no idea what the cheese foam was other than it was served in a bowl. She brought a wrong starter and insisted I ordered it when I did not. I ordered my steak to be medium it came rare. By the time my main entree had arrived I was exhausted from dealing with this rude, combative and surly individual. The plate of still mooing meat didn't help. I just asked to take it home. Nope, she said we don't pack anything to go. I asked for the manager at that point who pack up my meal and I was finally free to escape from restaurant hell. As for the food, Bread, Cheese foam, Argentinian Steak, It was average and overpriced. And all the bread was easily day old. One and done. Spare yourself the one and just be done.

The backs of the stools are straight up at a 90 degree angle.. have good posture Mom said. Started with some house wine which was fine and they have a very limited for Michelin Bib joint. Asked the waitress what they were known for and she rattled off 3 items which I ordered. Got bread with black garlic butter/ Hungarian Striploin and Blue Macha Seabass. Bread was fine but second dish served in oyster shells so I thought they brought the wrong dish? Just ok they said. The Seabass was good I got the check and couldn't wait to get outta there! Super busy and I don't know why.. maybe Millennials like the concept but I did not. Talk later

My first thought was "who comes to Dublin to go to a wine bar?" but my first thought was totally wrong. I absolutely loved La Cava! It's such a cozy intimate restaurant. It gave me lots of West Village (NYC) vibes. Be careful when looking for the restaurant because you can walk right by it, It's a little place right off of Grafton St. It's also located downstairs! Such a hidden gem! We did the 3-course pre-fixe. The burrata was amazing, so fresh! The service was excellent. You were given plenty of time to enjoy your food without being rushed for the next course. The duck was perfect, and the lamb was delicious. For the dessert, the creme brulee was grand. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this restaurant. The prices were reasonable! I highly recommend having dinner here if you're in Dublin. Note, the restaurant is small, so you'll be sitting very close to other people. Personally, this didn't bother me, but some people might not love that. But be aware, that they don't accept AMEX!

I was by myself so I sat at the bar. Just a few seats and quite cozy. Perfect!! Had the pleasure of Jon taking care of me. Started with a sparkling rose' while looking at the menu. Decided on the 2 course Prix Fixe. Chose the mussels and then the fish duo. Of course had to have wine. I honestly can't get enough of this place. Can't wait to return!!
