love the menu options..tastes amazing! horchata flavor is my favorite! Adding the menu from the new location on Saviers to have as a reference.

me, my fiancée and family are definitely regulars at this shop, and we've never been disappointed until now :( when we walked in they were mopping the floors around customers waiting for their drinks. we had been browsing the menu when the employee told us to move to a different part of the store because they were cleaning... we didn't mind moving but they were a little snippy about it, and i've never worked or gone anywhere that mops floors in the middle of business hours, especially one as small as this one. so that was already uncomfortable for us. when we ordered everything was fine for the most part but when we received our order, it just didn't meet standards. this is just one of the drinks we received, a BLENDED tea but the tea and "blended" part, that was 80% foam, are completely separated, the tea tasted bland and watered down, like they didn't put enough of some ingredient and it fell completely short. we were shocked this was handed to us and left unhappy. we noticed the staff that usually serves us were not in today and it was definitely disappointing because those girls always know how to make a good drink!!! for 20 dollars plus tip we expected better.

Too Much sweetness... I don't like it... sugar overload!! Pls... improve the taste and make the percentage of sweetness !!! Don't put too much sugar

Ok ....1st time here. I ordered the honeydew boba and they never asked how I wanted my drink so they gave it to me like slushie. Maybe it's all the other Boba places I have been to and was expecting more. The drink was not bad but i think for my experience it was the service that threw me off. Usually places ask you what size, over ice, how sweet you want it, extra boba.... but nothing else asked and even though it was not busy (only us) it took so long to get our drinks. (2 drinks). The flavor of the honeydew was ok. The boba was a bit hard not as chewy.

I am not a fan of how they changed their boba size, now they became tiny, It was perfect how it was before. As costumer service, You feel really unwelcome and rushed to your order boba.

I've been to the other Bigstraw branch on Oxnard Blvd., and although the boba here is on par with the other location, I won't be back because of the location (my family and I were stalked by a guy on his bike while walking through Centerpoint Mall, and then by one of his friends who walked inside Bigstraw a minute after we did, but I digress). I've tried the Strawberry Peach, Soursop, and the Honeydew flavors. The slushy-like texture is still odd to me, but it's certainly refreshing. Each drink captured the actual flavor we ordered and none of them were overly sweet. The boba was overcooked like the other branch, but perhaps other customers prefer it that way. It took awhile to get our drinks since there was only two people working when I was here, but the owner was friendly and did her best to keep up with everyone walking in.

This place is ridiculous! I can never visit SoCal without a stop to this place. Their boba is consistently perfect. Never had a ball that was hard in the middle, just perfectly squishy throughout, but not too gummy. I ALWAYS get the Taro. It tastes so fresh. Good thing I have a big family so that I can sample the rest of them as well. Our favorites include: Tropical Blend (Mix of different tropical flavors... sooooo good), cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple.

Cute little shop! It's small, but I love the decor and the huge menu posted on the left hand side made it pretty easy to order. SO MANY choices though! I took the recommendations of a few Yelpers and tried the Vanilla Hazelnut and it was super yummy. The girl behind the counter was friendly and checked with me when I told her "easy boba" to make sure that I had a good amount that I was pleased with. I'll be back to try more flavors for sure. I'm on a boba kick, and am determined to find a place in Ventura County that can rival the delights I sadly took for granted while in OC. This place is pretty good, and one of the best I've found so far. They have about ten million flavors of milk teas. That being said, I was feeling like a bit of a purist and just got plain milk tea with boba. The lady working there was really nice and decided to put free pudding in my drink in addition to boba...what the hell. I realize this might be normal, but I didn't really need pudding globs in my drink...boba give me all the blobby satisfaction I need. My milk tea was good, and the boba were actually of the proper consistency. They were still flavorless, however. My husband had the jasmine green tea, and this was good but WAY too sweet. i copy and pasted the address into my maps app and it took me to the shopping center across the street. BOOOOOOOOOO. either my phone is tripping out or you guys need to update your address on this page. it's probably tripping out. MILK TEA MILK TEA MILK TEA MILK TEA. It's not the best I've ever had, but its decent enough to fill the void when my heart is longing... I usually get 2 large ones (not kidding... fellow yelper Eddie M. 's eyes almost popped out of his skull when he heard me order) so that I can drink one in 5 minutes and the other one for the road. it usually works out quite well. oh, and unlike the many tea shops in LA that don't want to pay tax, they take card! yay! read more

The Bigstraw micro-chain is probably the best boba you're going to get in Oxnard, possibly the Ventura County area as a whole. That said, their drinks are good, but the boba is unfortunately poor. The boba is bland and very, very chewy. Anyone who has been to a more, experienced, boba tea room knows that "good" boba is firm and sweet. However, that may simply be a matter of opinion. That said, I don't usually buy boba in Ventura County. Instead I go to Bounce Boba Loft in Northridge. However, if you want Boba in Oxnard, this is the place to go. read more

The food here is decent. I would probably give this a four stars for the food. However, there is a big fish (maybe a flower horn fish?) in a tiny tiny tank at the front counter. I feel terrible for him. I can't go in here anymore because I feel to bad for the poor fish bobbing in place in his tank. His tank says he gives his mom and dad good luck, so it makes me think his mom and dad likely care for him but can we get the guy a bigger tank please!!!! read more

they always get my order right. all the time, every time. they don't put too much boba in their drinks but even if you think otherwise, you can always ask them to do "less boba" =) there's a really nice girl that works there .. i always see her & i'm not too sure of her name but every time i've come in to do a group order for my friends, she never fails to amaze. timely manner, great flavor, every request is met, & she's incredibly sweet! never seems to be overwhelmed with my orders. haha. anyhow, great place, great service. just wish they didn't have to leave that spot on 5th and ventura. billiard's was awesome! read more

One of my best friends was in town and now that Boba loca is out of business in Westlake we did not know where to go for Boba in Ventura County. She happened to find this place on yelp and we made the 35 minute trek to Oxnard. I got the coconut boba which was absolutely delicious and the boba was very fresh and my friend got the thai iced tea that she said she's had better. I wish this place was closer to me because I know I'd go back to try the amazing array of flavors that they have at this place. read more

Love this place! The employees were very friendly and helpful in choosing flavors. My mom was new to Boba and wanted a small amount of Boba in her drink. She said 4 or 5. I laughed and said I wanted exactly 13. The girl at the counter, Stephanie, smiled and said it was not a problem, and she didn't mind counting them out. We thought it was funny, but it also showed that they care about their customers and are sensitive to the wants of people new to the drink! Thank you Stephanie! I was surprised by how decent the boba is here! The drinks were tasty. Two that really stuck with me were the soursop and mango slushes. The fruit tasted like it was fresh and the portions sizes were okay for the price. The pearls are also really good. They're not honey boba, but the texture was really great! read more

The thai tea was not authentic. It was really bitter. Comparing this place to a boba place in LA, this place is terrible but otherwise, it's decent for the area. The service is good. However, it's pretty pricey compared to LA, $4.50 for a large with boba. If you have no other option, you should try this out, but if you do, stick to your place! read more

I don't come often to this bigstraw since they opened the new one on Vinyard since its way closer to home but the service is great and don't let the girl that gave them a 4 star because of the fish like seriously cry me a river, this place has great boba and the food is good for a quick bite or if you are taking kids with you since its basic and simple. read more

My only drawback to this place is it's location coz the area is soooo busy and parking is really difficult. The bobas themselves are really good. Their boba pearls are cooked well and not hard in the center. Their Thai Iced tea is real good. One of my top 5 in Ventura county. Their milk tea is also good. They have a ton of choices and at first it will take u a while to pick one. read more

Specialties

Bigstraw is a smoothie bar that blends the freshest fruits and ingredients together with the addition of boba for a delectable treat. Boba is a tapioca pearl derived from ground cassava. The boba itself does not have a particular flavor but rather takes onto the flavor of your smoothie. It adds texture to your drink, somewhat like a gummy bear and serves as a quick snack while you enjoy your drink. The boba is included in the price of your smoothie, but it is totally optional for those who would rather do without it.

History

Established in 2000.

Our company has a rich history rooted in our family's arcade and pool hall(Trolley’s Family & Arcade, on Ventura Rd. & 5th St. in Oxnard), which we owned since 1992. Back then, we started selling Boba with just eight flavors, and it quickly became a hit. We noticed that customers were coming in specifically for the Boba drinks. Seeing this growing demand, we made the bold decision to close down the arcade and pool hall to focus entirely on Boba. In 2000, we proudly opened the first Boba shop in Ventura County. Since then, our menu has expanded to offer over 150 flavors and combinations, becoming a beloved local favorite.

My only other note would be the pricing. In my opinion, it's a bit higher than some other local options, both small businesses and larger chains. It is home to the best Tortas(mexican sandwhich) in Oxnard! When you walk into this place you will feel like you walked into someone's kitchen. There is limited seating, I can guess about a group of ten can fit in there. Do not expect this place to be anything fancy. I usually have the turkey torta. It's a delicious combination of thin turkey slices, lettuce, avocado, jalapeño, tomatoes and mayo. The bread is warm and crispy. When you bite into it the bolillo(bread) is nice and light. I have tried tortas at many other restaurants in Oxnard but hands down this is the best one! Jacaranda's also has many smoothies and juices. Smoothies are good but not the best I ever had. Oh, and you can't beat the price. My torta and juice came to a total of $7! now that is a deal!!

This drink did not taste like chai. It tasted like a red hot cinnamon drink. Spiced Chai and Ceylon cinnamon are not the same. To me this tasted like they just dumped a Toriani Cinnamon syrup in the drink and called it a chai. The strawberry creme muffin was delicious. I love that the baked goods are from Siblings Bakery. I definitely do not recommend getting the chai drink.

Usually I would order my drinks online but since the line wasn't too long I decided to go and wait in line. The online process is great since I'm impatient and don't like waiting. Parking can be a little bit dicey here but there are a lot of spots but during the lunch rush it can be, tough to find a spot and I got lucky to be able to find one. There are a lot of people that were waiting around for the drinks because of how busy it was but I didn't wait that much longer. They have the menus on the walls and you're able to get an extra boost if you need to. The process was very painless and very efficient. This is my go to smoothie place if I'm ever in the area.

Dinner that weekend was quiet with a couple other tables occupied. The wall showcasing the generations of Otani's in Oxnard was a good read while we waited for our order. A large white board was the menu. Lots of options to pick from. However with the variety we ordered the food was just ok with the grilled snapper and fries being the stand outs. The fried fish seemed a bit too oily, the tempura batter too thick on the vegetables and the clam chowder needed more flavor. Given the years in business, I was hoping for more from the food.

Hey some pretty crazy flavors of drinks. I had one that was good and the next day I had a terrible coffee flavored something. I like that there are a ton of flavors but it would be much better to make a few flavors perfect rather than half-ass some of the flavors. read more
