It felt like an intentionally healthier take on traditional foods, however fell flat for me. Coffee was ok. I had higher hopes in this area as well. The service was fine and staff are friendly. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and unfortunately, it missed the mark. For a café that seems to put so much effort into its unique menu the sandwich felt processed and lacked the fresh, high-quality ingredients I expected. It was just an unsatisfying start to the meal. The waffle tasted like one of those store-bought belgian waffles However, I have to give credit where it's due: the espresso was excellent. It was nice and strong, clearly made from well-sourced beans. It's a great spot for a caffeine fix. The staff were kind and attentive, and the cafe itself is a great spot to work on a laptop, but based on the food quality of my visit, I can't give it a full recommendation yet. I'll likely be back for the coffee, but I'll stick to one of their more popular items next time.

On awkward waiting wondering if this is one of those places where you can just seat yourself. The place is clean and the ambiance has some very nice touches to bring intrigue. The subtle candle-like light fixture was corky and added to the charm. Prices are very reasonable! I had a good idea what I wanted prior to stopping in. Food came out quickly. Less than 10 mins. Lupia was hot and delicious. My first time having one so wilk not compare it to an egg roll. The braised beef rib was tender and juicy. I pulled out the knife but only a fork is necessary. I do wish the meat was a tad saltier but just a personal preference there. Service was pleasant, attentive, and quick. The gentleman who greeted me also thanked me on my way out. It was rather pleasant experience overall and am planning on coming back to try more of the menu!

It's a restaurant, perhaps reflecting its neighborhood, where people have an occasional beer, but George and the Dragon isn't a drinking hole. That changes the ambiance. The patrons looked well-off, but in that way in which they try hard not to look like they have money. Most of them wore clothes that made them look as if they had just come off the tennis court, or their bike, or after running a five-mile for a great cause. My wife and I still try to look nice when we go out. We don't dress down. Most of the people at George & the Dragon were in their fifties or sixties, including the servers, who were very earnest, if you know what I mean. I'm in my seventies, grew up in NYC, and still try to look hip, and I drink vodka quite often. Maybe that's why I felt uncomfortable. That decade and a half makes a huge difference in how we grew up, and what I experienced in the sixties and seventies. The food was okay, not great. The burger and chicken schnitzel tasted fair to middling. The room was also very loud, filled with exclamations from the tables of "women who lunch," feeling more comfortable with no men at their tables. That's also a demographic and Minneapolis thing. I doubt I'll return to George and The Dragon. I like bars.

A great beer selection and cocktails that looked delicious but the server didn't seem to know very much about either. The brussel sprouts were my favorite part, you have to try them if you come here. I got the bacon truffle burger with no bacon and the impossible patty substituted and it was quite tasty but nothing very special to be honest, most restaurants could replicate it so I thought it was a bit overpriced. I got the sweet potato fries with it which were delicious and came with an amazing chipotle aioli but they forgot to bring them out and I had to remind the serve about them. Overall, service and ambiance were great. We were checked in on just enough and felt very comfortable. The food was between good and great, some things were incredible and some weren't too special but still tasty. I would come back here but not on my own dime.

Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."

We were able to snag a few spots at the bar, otherwise it would've been a 45 minute wait. Highly recommend making a reservation. It is cozy place but can get quite loud. Be prepared to talk a little louder. We started with a few snacks: mussels in a green curry sauce (not the freshest mussels, but that sauce was delicious), ricotta bruschetta (hard pass on this), and the chicken liver pate (I'm not a huge fan but my friend loved it. The bacon marmalade that came with it was tasty). For our main courses we got the vegetable orzo and the halibut. The orzo was creamy, the vegetables were crisp, and I liked the little kick with the horseradish. The he halibut was a bit over salted, but everything tasted well. I would definitely go back and try a few other things.

The wait staff were superb, 5 plus stars for our waitress. The food was average. I took my son here for his 35 birthday. He is a foodie as well and has a high appreciation for excellent food. We both had the lobster and spaghetti which was good but nothing special. I had small pieces of lobster and my son had larger and more pieces. We skipped dessert. Here's a rundown of our amazing meal: Starters: The Kanpachi CRUDO, POMMES DAUPHINES (with amazing gruyère dipping sauce) and Chilled GREEN GAZPACHO (they split this for us since it's a soup) were all fantastic. Entrees: The Walleye was great and we really enjoyed the AMERICAN WAGYU STEAK butchers cut. They all had great and unique flavors. Desserts: The server recommended the peach cobbler and we received a delicious complimentary sundae since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Cocktails: I really enjoyed the Paper Plane since I like tequila and my husband liked his Old Fashion. The Spritz was also refreshing. The server did a great job pacing everything, and was knowledgeable with the menu and the waitstaff was polite and attentive. We reserved a table outside since it was a nice summer day and enjoyed our little spot along the restaurant. Other tips: We found free parking in the lot at the building at 5:00. Make reservations several weeks in advance if you want a table since this place is super popular. The location used to be the Revival restaurant if you are familiar with the area or the previous restaurant. We would definitely dine here again and it's one of my favorite restaurants now. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
