I have become increasingly tired of Starbucks, but less so of other chain coffeehouses. That said, I always seek out the independent coffeehouses. Mostly, I was sold on the name (Rustbelt) of this coffeehouse in Downtown Toledo, just a few blocks from the small cluster of downtown mid-rises. Inside, it has the open floor plan with exposed ceilings up above, which works very well here and fits the industrial Rust Belt mood. The seating options were to my liking: big butcher block type tables meant to be shared, smaller tables, and upholstered seating with coffee tables. I wish I could have stayed at Rustbelt longer. It was a warm and humid summer day and I had an iced tea and a pastry. The items were tasty. The pricing was fair and the service was unremarkable, but did lean toward being good natured. Parking is available right in front along the street, should you want to keep an eye on your car. That said, I couldn't get a read on the location ... it seemed that there were other eateries and bars nearby, so maybe that meant it was okay. Also, I couldn't figure out where the customer base came from. Usually, bohemian coffeehouses have bohemian enclaves nearby where the bohemian people live. I didn't see any, or maybe I didn't look long enough. I couldn't imagine them being suburbanites. Lastly, I believe I've always seen Rust Belt spelled as two words. If they want to stylize this and go with one word, that's their prerogative. So, what you have here at Rustbelt Coffee are good tea/coffee with pastries to choose from, fair prices, decent service, and a spacious open interior plan where the climate control system was working very well. I will say the new staff members that have been working Friday mornings the past few weeks are amazing. Extremely friendly. Fast service. I have also caught them during what I think was either shift turnover or scheduled breaks (when only 1 person was working), the employee working handled the lines with ease.. A few weeks ago, I witnessed them handling demanding customers with grace and kindness. The two employees held it together and stayed calm while handling a large customer order. Even when the customer was complaining and being impatient, they still remained calm and kind. Sadly the customer left a huge mess but the employees were quick to clean everything up. This Starbucks is located inside Kroger so you will have to deal with grocery store parking. It's a standard Starbucks kiosk stand. It's located in the front near the floral and produce which means there isn't any seating available. Just mentioning this so people know what to expect.

The server at Waffle House told us about this location and my child was so excited and wanted to try it. It was an adorable drive-thru. I wish we had left the car to look at the menu, but maybe we will do a walk up next time. The line was huge, but they seem like an efficient well oiled machine and the line went so quickly, I wish they could give tips to other fast food places. We all got something different. One child got an iced cookie butter breve and she said it was really good. The other got a cherry cobbler smoothie with wild berry base. It was so good. My husband got an iced mocha. It was creamy and delicious. One child said it was the better mocha she has every tried. I got the large iced brunette. It was amazing. I cannot believe the sizes. I got the large, it was quite literally a bucket of coffee. I did not realize how super huge it would be. The mocha and the smoothie were both mediums, and those were quite large portions as well. The large will last a very long time, so drinking all of that in one day. This is a cute place and everyone working here was pleasant and happy. It was a fun coffee run.
