Found this hotpot restaurant and it's a bit different from your usual AYCE hotpots or one pot type orders. This is similar to YGF where you'll get all your ingredients and it'll be weighted as you select your broth. Price can get pretty high if your bowl is heavy enough. I've seen from the ranges of $15 to all the way up in the $40 range. As for ingredients, it's pretty much got all the usual hotpot foods selections you can think of. Many places have limited fish ball options but not this one, so choose what you like. The options are practically endless in my opinion including noodles. Very happy with the wide variety of selections. Parking here is in a underground parking lot, very spacious and plenty of spots. Can get packed so watch out for that. This specific restaurant can get very busy. From ranges of 20 minutes waiting time to an hour+. Make sure to join the waitlist on Yelp or in person to avoid wait times. Broths are plentiful as well, spice levels are plenty. My favorite turns out to be the Collagen and the Tomato broth. I believe the flavoring of both broths fits very well with the ingredients I get. However, it's not anything too special compared to other same style hotpot restaurants. Only Pro I've give in comparison is that their selection is great and plentiful along with their complimentary ice cream cone that you can request to conclude your meal. Aside from that, my partner and I enjoyed a nice hangout with friends despite the long wait times.

I've been a big fan of this spot and have probably been here at least 10 times now. Came back this past Saturday around lunch and I have to say I'm starting to notice a bit of a decline. The broths don't taste the same as before. It felt more watered down this time which was disappointing since that's kind of the main reason to come here. I even tried their new chicken broth this time and it honestly tasted like water. Service also seemed off compared to before. The staff didn't seem as upbeat and overall the experience just wasn't as smooth. I also noticed the place isn't as clean as it used to be. The restrooms were dirty and had a smell, which definitely takes away from the experience. I'm not here to bash the place because I still like it, but with so many malatang spots in the SGV now, it's harder to justify coming back when it doesn't hit like it used to. I used to think this was one of the best, but now I'm a bit more hesitant. Also tried the black tea ice cream they have now. It was okay, but I think I liked the milk flavor better before. I'll probably give it another shot in the future and update again, hoping it improves.

The prices have gone up and the soup base tastes bland and watered down. The pots and tongs don't look very clean either and they got someone of our orders wrong even though they clip the receipt to each pot ?? I definitely feel like the overall quality went down by far. Also I don't understand why the cashier asked if we were paying together or separate then requested we pay later when the individual price was already on the pos. Seems inefficient

Sinus destroying mala broth! I came here on a Saturday night for dinner with my family! This is located directly in Atlantic Times Square and it was pretty busy during dinner time so parking took a little time. Big Way has an online Yelp waitlist so you can join ahead of time to avoid waiting long times. Sometimes, the estimated wait time is inaccurate since it really depends on how fast/slow the previous table eats. The 30 minute wait time for us was pretty accurate and when we got there, our table was ready for us! I will say that the service is definitely on the slower side. There's quite a few people that work in the kitchen and service bar but when it comes to trying to find someone to get water refills or grabbing the check, there was no one to be found. I did notice that there was only one girl that was working the tables and you can tell that she was really overwhelmed since there's ~15 tables and she was the only one on the floor. The process is quite easy, your party grabs a bowl and tongs and you can pick what meats, seafoods, vegetables, and carbs you want! I love this because you can choose how much you want depending on your hunger level for the night! I would say that this place has a lot of different varieties of food you can grab which I love. They do measure by kg so it can get pretty heavy if you're grabbing whatever and thinking it doesn't weigh that much. My bowl was 0.550 kg and it costed a little over $20. The base price is 36.99 per kg so don't be too heavy handed! After you grab everything, you place your bowl on top of a scale and choose your soup base. I opted for the signature soup base in mild and I'm 100% sure they gave me hot because wow I was blowing my nose every few seconds and taking heavy sips of water. They also have a sauce bar where you can make your own custom sauce like what a regular hot pot place offers! My favorite combo is satay bbq sauce, sesame oil, sesame peanut sauce, and garlic! After you finish all your food, they do give you ice cream! This place will definitely fill you up and don't underestimate how much food you get because you WILL get full easily.

This place is incredible for both selection and also price, I really enjoyed the collagen bone broth as well, and my husband got the mushroom broth which was super umami. I only paid about $25 for my entire bowl which is such a good price, especially if you're comparing it to Haidilao. I am deducting 1.4 cleanliness and also service, although they are very busy, I do feel like it could be run a bit more efficiently. With all that being said, I will absolutely be back the next time I want hot pot.

Was in town and came to this place with family. The food was very good and it's fresh has a lot of veggie as well. This place when you walk in they give you pot and tongs so u can get what you want in your hot pot. It has a varieties selection beef, seafood, veggie and noodles. Service here is good as well. Everyone is nice and friendly. Ambience here is alittle smaller then some other big way places. Got some booth tables and bench tables.

I was hoping that the bad reviews were outliers, but I can see why they deserved them. The price was not bad $3.69 per 100g but unfortunately the meat was a little tough and the broth just okay. We tried the tomato (which was nothing special, but could have used more tomato) and the chicken broth. The chicken broth was quite good and I would recommend that. However, the food came out separately, one pot and then the other which was a little sad to have only one person eating while the other watches. The utensils were a little dirty, I ended up wiping off some sort of residue. It was pretty busy for a weekday so I try to be understanding but the service was extremely slow. They probably need to hire more servers so it's not their fault but we were waiting for a while to get the check. The dining room is huge with a lot of seats and they were almost all filled up and they only had three people manning the front. The men's restroom was also in need of maintenance, a very unpleasant smell was emanating.

Seems like they made some changes. It was a little weird though. When we first came in, they pointed us to a table we would be sitting at. After filling everything up, we weighed it sat at the table and wait for the food. You pay after you are done with the meal. Before you would pay after it gets weighed. Not sure why they made this change. It was around 11pm when we came but they had people restocking the items, for some we would have to ask for it to be restocked, while others noticed it was empty and the workers grabbed it to restock. I thought the collegen broth was okay. It was a little bland. They also gave out ice cream and it was black tea flavor. I didnt try it but my friends are unsure of they liked it or not. But im sure the milk flavor woild have been better. My friends always get the sichuan broth.

It's a lot nicer compared to other build your own malatang places I've been too. Ingredients are better quality - I especially liked that they had beef chuck roll that had little fat. They also had abalone too which I've never seen at a malatang place. I had to try it and I loved it. Overall, the ingredients bar was very clean. Understandably, it's more expensive than other places. It does come with free 1 ice cream, though. I tried the Szechuan spicy dry pot on my first visit, which I found to be disappointing. I got it medium level and it was not spicy at all. None of the ingredients I picked out really absorbed the flavors from the dry pot so they ended up tasting really bland. I've had dry pot at other malatang places like Zhangliang and Pixiu, and not only are they cheaper, but the dry hot pot came out much more flavorful. Oh my second visit, I tried the signature malatang, and I enjoyed this much more than the dry pot. I got medium spicy again and the spiciness was a lot more pronounced than the dry pot at the same spice level. I enjoyed the flavor of the soup in that it wasn't overly salty. Going forward I'd probably opt for the hot pot over the dry pot just because the toppings absorb the flavors better. My only other minor complaint is the sesame sauce from the sauce bar. This was way too watery, that none of the things I dipped into it actually absorbed the sauce. This place gets very crowded, and I think the staff has difficulty keeping up with demand as the more popular toppings seemed to run out before they could be replenished. On my second visit, they were out of abalone, and it took a while for them to restock this, to a point where I almost gave up waiting. As far as hot pot goes, it's not my favorite in the area, but what really makes the visit worth it for me is the abalone.

Don't come here when they're busy lol service was terrible and food was just kind of mid. Loved it the first time we came but we went this time around 8pm on a Sunday, waited almost an hour and they were so confused when seating us and didn't know where to put us. Sauce bar had no more sauce dishes and I had to chase a waiter down the restaurant for them but they didn't even add more dishes, just told me where to grab them myself (which was separate from the station). Food felt like it was mid this time and broth was a bit watered down. Just don't come when they're busy.

We saw this restaurant while walking around the plaza one day and decided to try it out because the concept seemed nice - build your own from the meat/toppings provided. There was an extensive choice of toppings & many broths to choose from! However, at the time we went a couple of the meats to choose from weren't filled up for us to choose from and there was a decent line behind us so we felt pressured to just keep going to the next items. There were also veggies and other items that weren't filled up during our visit so we missed out on those too. I ordered the tom yom broth and I liked the broth! However the beef ended up being pretty hard and hard to chew - maybe just a bad batch? We'd like to try this again to hopefully give us a better experience!

I lovee malatang hot pot so much that I could eat this everyday!!! I've been to this location multiple times whenever I crave for hot pot and this spot hits every time. Not only the food is yummy but the service here is quick and attentive. They have waitlist on yelp so you can write down your name prior coming to avoid waiting time. Interior is nice and modern, the only thing I wish is they have more open spaces with more seatings. Beside that, yummy food and I will come back to try their dry mix option next~

Hits the spot for late night soups. Joined the waitlist around 7:30pm on a Saturday, was quoted 30 minutes, but ended up getting seated around 8:30pm, and there was still a good number of parties behind us. But around 9:30-10PM, you can get seated immediately. Ordered: - #1 Signature Mala Broth - 0.420 kg @ $36.90/kg $15.50: soup was not as spicy as I'd like. I would def get hot next time. I preferred the chewy mung bean noodles, beef cut, and mushrooms. - Passion Fruit Green Tea, less sugar/ice $4.50: was like sugary water, wouldn't get again lol. needs more tea base. I actually liked the free ice cream at the end the most, with the thin crunchy cone. It was offputting to see old (darkened) shaven pieces of meat left on the meat cutter. Tables and water pitchers weren't the cleanest. I also think the sauce station and ingredients should be upkept more often to maintain cleanliness. I'd come back still to try the other broths, such as the collagen bone broth.

Popsicle to go (you get a cone if you eat there)

The price is $14.99/pound. It's DIY-style hotpot where you pay by weight with lots of ingredients to choose from. Every meal includes a soft serve cone.

Is there a soft opening deal for BOGO drinks like the Rowland Heights location?

I am genuinely thrilled to have such an upscale, quiet, and relaxing restaurant right here in my neighborhood. You can truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every dish. Every time I bring friends here, they are absolutely amazed and delighted by the flavors. We ordered quite a few dishes today. The highlight was the Chilean Sea Bass. The chef served a massive, beautifully thick cut--which is actually the hardest to execute. If overcooked even slightly, Chilean Sea Bass becomes dry and tough. But the timing here was absolutely perfect. It had a gorgeous, golden-brown exterior, while the inside remained incredibly moist, tender, and delightfully springy. The seasoning was spot-on and never overpowering; it wasn't too salty, perfectly preserving the natural, fresh flavors of the sea. We also had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. I typically avoid chicken dishes at restaurants because they often turn out dry and lack the rich aroma you get from beef or lamb. However, Sage's chef elevates chicken to another level. Rather than using the traditional Cantonese technique of quickly flash-frying in oil (which yields a smooth texture but sacrifices the natural meat aroma), the chef here expertly pan-sears the chicken over extremely high heat for a short time. This creates a deliciously crisp exterior that locks in all the juices and rich flavor. Tossed with perfectly cooked bowtie pasta and cheese, the result is so flavorful and well-balanced that we simply couldn't stop eating! Another great thing about Sage is their incredibly generous portion sizes--we left completely satisfied! We finished our meal with a great cup of coffee and the chef's handmade Tiramisu, drawing a perfect, sweet close to our evening. Highly recommend!

We whetted our appetite with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and then the food started coming out. It was a veritable feast. One that put some of the wedding banquets I've attended to shame. Every dish was superb, but if I could only choose half, these would be my favorites: -Braised Morel and Chicken Soup -Salted Egg Fried Shrimp -Vietnamese Style Filet Mignon -Salted Fish, Chicken, and Tofu Hot Pot -Vietnamese Style Black Pepper Fried Fish with Basil -House Special Vietnamese style lobster with noodles The runners-up: -Szechuan Fried Free-Range Chicken (Bone-in) -some kind of pork chop -Lotus and Wood Ear Stir Fry -Choy Sum Stir Fry -Steamed Garlic Alaskan King Crab The Hong Kong egg waffle dessert didn't quite land for me, making it the lone outlier in an otherwise spectacular spread. It was my first time trying Morel mushroom soup and Salted egg fried shrimp, and I cannot get enough of them. I hope to visit again very soon!

We had a mix of older Taiwanese who wanted dishes the restaurant is known for, and others who had different tastes.. Also, they forgot 2 dishes. We informed them after we were done eating--they were starting to clear the table after they brought dessert. We said they could just be cancelled because dinner was over. They went into the kitchen and when they came back they said they had already started cooking them. What coincidental timing! After 5-10 min they brought the two dishes anyway (!). Poor service and likely an outright lie. Why wait until after dessert to bring out two savory dishes? Based on anecdotes from friends it seems like service and food quality depends a lot on who they are serving.

Both were very refreshing, and I really loved the sauce on the bakka salmon in combination with the mint leaves. Since I'm a huge seafood lover, I ordered the Thai royal curry with lobster tail, lime steamed Chilean sea bass and the royal crown fried rice. This was my first time trying curry and I found it delicious, I'd love to visit Star Leaf again specifically for this dish. I really enjoyed the texture of the fish roe on top of the fried rice - I've never had something like this before. I also ordered the truffle wok seared noodles with beef (I liked the mushrooms in this dish). For dessert, I had the Vietnamese coffee flan and the pink mekong. I loved the presentation of the pink Mekong, and the various fruits were yummy. As for the atmosphere, it was very cozy and I took a lot of nice photos in the front of the restaurant by the pond. This restaurant would be perfect for a romantic date night or a lunch with the girls. The service was great - everything was very timely and detail-oriented. Everyone was kind and attentive, I felt very welcome.

I was able to find metered parking on the street; not sure why but I didn't need to pay that day! Upon arriving, we were fortunate that there was no wait time and got seated right away. Their menu was quite extensive so we took some time to browse before we ordered. They had a main menu and also a special menu. We pointed out some allergies to the staff and he helped us work around it. The orders came out quickly and he checked in on us frequently to see if we were okay. Great service! Bakka Wild Salmon - This salmon had a lot of things going on for it, in a good way! The combination of flavors felt very refreshing, especially on a hot day. The lime and basil played a big part there. Crispy Short Rib with Lime - Even initially before coming here, this was the dish that caught our attention. I will admit the portion size was a bit smaller than I expected and was even skeptical when it came out. However, without a doubt, this was the highlight of the visit. As someone that loves savory foods, this really hit the spot. The burst of flavors settles in right away. Truffle Wok Seared Noodles - We wanted to pick this noodle dish as a balance to the protein dishes. It did its job but it tasted okay. Not something that stood out. Slow-Drip Vietnam Coffee Flan - I liked the caramel that was layered on the flan, it was crunchy and added a nice texture. It was a nice presentation but tasted okay. Thai Tea - This was my personal drink. It was a standard Thai tea but came with ice cream on top. It was not too sweet but didn't stand out compared to other items. Strawberry Pandan Lemonade - This was my girlfriend's drink. I had a small sip here but found it was refreshing and not too sweet. However, I didn't really get any pandan flavor, mainly strawberry. When it all comes together, it was a good experience. The interior of the story is more dimly lit and felt like a romantic night dinner, despite being the middle of the day. The dishes had a balance of standard and hidden gems. Everything was more than sufficient for two people to share. Service was great and very attentive. Will come back for the Crispy Short Ribs! American Express is accepted here.

It looks like they added a dessert menu as well all the way in the back. I wanted to try their clam miso but the salmon plate already came with miso soup and you cant upgrade it. Service is always good, water gets refilled pretty fast without having to ask and if you need anything they get it right away. Parking is pretty decent. But, it turns out this restaurant is Korean Japanese, which is fine. I was greeted by a hostess when I first entered and it turns out she was also the server. She was nice. The restaurant is relatively spacious and well-decorated. The menu was plentiful. The restroom, though, needs updating, but it wasn't dirty. These were the items I got: Skirt Beef & Tempura Bento ($23): It came with miso soup, side salad, rice, teriyaki beef, tempura, 4pcs of CA roll, & 2 pc tempura roll. I think it's actually big enough for 2 people to share. Everything was decent except for the beef. Next time, I think I'll stick to chicken or salmon. 3.7/5 stars Salmon Roll ($9): This was simple and delicious. The portions are small though. 4/5 stars. There is free parking on site. Overall, I think I'd come back to try other dishes.

The server told us to look at the menu when we're ready to order we can go to the front and order with someone once we ordered we were able to find a seating and the server who greeted us told us to sit in where we want so we chose a seating in the back near the drinks fountain. We ordered a premium New York steak dish and a regular beef dish with a drink, and we ended out getting some diet Pepsi. Near the drink fountain was sauce and utensils, which we tried both soy garlic and sweet and sour sauce. When the food came, it was super hot, so be careful when you have a little kids. We had to cut the steak into small pieces to make sure that we can share it together and also mix it with the rice which was in the separate bowl. The other beef dish was easier to mix, and we ended up using the white garlic for both because it tastes the best vs the other sauce. The New York steak was very tender. Definitely enjoy the size portions and loved the variety of vegetables it comes with. My son enjoyed the New York State more than the beef bowl. The place is very nice. I think I really enjoyed how we were able to choose our own seating after ordering. They even had a restrooms in the back, which are very clean.

But recent experience really didn't quite do it for us. The place feels grimy and sticky everywhere, the tables, chairs, and even the doors. I had to wait for the staff to take a 5 minute phone order while I stood at the counter awkwardly. They also rolled out a kids menu, and my daughter was very excited about the pasta option on there because on the drawing it looked like pasta with a tomato sauce. It came plain with bits of dry chicken. Very disappointed. The food from the main menu is still decent but I doubt I would be going back as often as before now.
