an ice cream cone on the corner of a street
Joy N.

Summertime favorite. The ice cream hut is conveniently located off of the Clarence Bike path on Goodrich Road. This ice cream hut is very nostalgic place for the community and anyone who grew up in Clarence. This is the ice cream hut to go to when your team wins a game, on hot summer days or to pick up a refreshing treat after a long bike ride. They have a great selection of sundaes, cones and More importantly they have sno balls. By far this is is the fan favorite. I typically favor the soft serve ice cream cone but I was feeling like trying something different. I tried the popular Katy Jane, chocolate soft serve ice cream with strawberry flavored snow cone on top. I loved the combination and I can't believe I waited this long to try one. It was a fun and exciting treat. You should give it a try!

My all-time favorite ice cream stand! With countless flavor options for their signature stuffed snoballs (slushee, ice cream, slushee), and friendly staff willing to let you sample a wild-named flavor, everyone is bound to find something they like! My personal favorite is the black cherry snoball stuffed with vanilla custard, but every flavor I've had has been delicious! This ma-and-pa stand is cash only but worth every penny!

Stuffed Snowball with coconut ice and raspberry ice cream (or maybe it was frozen yogurt).

There are pizza places closer to my house. Several of them. But when you need two full sheet pizzas…read moreand your reputation, sanity, and event success are on the line... you don't gamble on "maybe." You go where you know the pizza is going to show up hot, generous, and delicious. You go to Gianni Mazia's. They're a beloved local staple for pizza, subs, and all things gloriously Italian, and I can personally vouch for their pizza -- especially the pepperoni and mushroom, which has become my permanent order because my mouth refuses to accept alternatives. Gianni Mazia's is also home to what I consider one of Clarence's most elite social clubs: the Wednesday Lunch Ladies. My mom, Carol, and Dot meet here every single week. They are known by name. They have their own table. They have their orders. I am occasionally allowed to occupy a chair at this sacred gathering, though I sometimes respectfully bow out so Girl Time can proceed uninterrupted. My mom's regular order is the ham sub -- and when I say she loves it, I mean she probably dreams about it. I've tried to remain loyal to my pizza... but writing this review has now convinced me I will absolutely be ordering that ham sub for dinner tomorrow. So yes -- great pizza, legendary subs, friendly staff, and the kind of place that quietly becomes part of your routine and your stories. Gianni Mazia's isn't just a restaurant. It's a weekly tradition in a building. And honestly? That's the best kind of place.

Took over two hours to get two wood fired pizzas delivered. Never ordering from again.read more

Service is good, but I was let down…read more Each of my sons had chocolate chip cookies. For $1.75, I expect either a larger cookie or more of them. These were just medium sized cookies. My sons enjoyed them, but I wouldn't buy them again. I had a grasshopper pie. $4.75 seemed like a much more reasonable price relative to the cookies, but the pie itself was very bland. I could taste the barest hint of mint, but I can't for the life of me figure out what the filling was. It had a very empty, artificial quality to it. My sons finished it, and enjoyed it. Maybe it was an off day since all my friends seem to love them, but I was not impressed.

I had the biggest first world problem last night. This truck was at Larkin Square's Food Truck…read moreTuesday's and I've never tried it, but I didn't want to over stuff myself with dessert, because you see...I planned to work out after the food truck bonanza (never happened). I looked over their menu and at first glance decided that I couldn't possibly allow myself anything on it. All these cakes, chocolates, ice cream (they use Sweet Jenny's from Williamsville) -- no way would they be good for me! I already engulfed like a pound of Thai food for God's sake! Low and behold, my eye spots the word "healthy" on their menu. Eureka! Dare I read closer? "Supernatural Brownie." Is it supernatural because it's healthy? That must be it! Made with something like 87% Dark Chocolate (with healthy antioxidants), this brownie must be the healthiest dessert in all of mankind. I must order it! So I did, along with a cup of coffee (it was the only truck serving warm coffee). Verdict? Each bite was indeed a supernatural explosion of sweet flavors, dopamine and euphoria flooding my brain. I gave a friend a bite and she was equally amazed and commented that "she could taste the butter." Wait. Hold on. This isn't healthy, is it? Damn. I thought..maybe it was? Well, it is. It's healthy for the soul. That's it. Yes. 5 stars for the dessert. 3 stars for the coffee. I'd love to see some Stumptown or artisan-roasted coffee brewed here with a lot of love. Then again, we do have a truck for that (Rolling Joe's).
