This restaurant is a diamond in the ruff. Service was quicker than I could think of what I needed next and the food was incredibly fresh and delicious. Our server was kind, accurate and very personable -- not to mention rapid service. I ordered the Camarones and they were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Came with side of rice and beans and guac salad. I had a Mexican Guava beverage that was delightful and learned what Sopapillos were the best delicious way-- bit into a crisp and sweet fried tortilla with chocolate and whipped cream with a cinnamon sugar crust. Wow, after all the years getting El Ranchito, NEVER AGAIN! We took friends of ours after telling them how good it was. What a mistake. The waitress didn't speak English well at all, seemed overwhelmed. Shame. We ordered and got the wrong food (?) which normally you would tell the waitress. We never saw her and frankly didn't speak English! Food bland, boring, etc., etc., Waited 15 minutes after eating and again, NEVER SAW THE WAITRESS for the bill. Hailed another waitress, who finally got our original waitress to give us the bill. Summing up: SERVICE SUCKED, FOOD MEDIOCRE, WILL NEVER BE BACK. I view this last and final episode as a TOTAL waste of our time and money and will find other Mexican food (El Cubilete, which is awesome) and hope people steer clear of what was once a good Mexican restaurant. The food was good, but it could have been better. The chip was hot and warm. It wasn't salty which is a good thing. The salsa was really good. The chicken quesadilla was plain, nothing special about it. (Which is understandable) The queso was good, but just too much cheese. Sometime i feel like people need to make it with more. However that is my opinion. The taco was good, it was not too dry. The flavor was there. The salsa was too spicy for my friend, so i use it for the chicken quesadilla. My burrito with rice was good. Came here for dinner Sunday night and it wasn't too bad! I liked the atmosphere... bright and colorful, yet cozy. There's a small bar you can sit at as well. Also, TVs mounted. And festive music playing! Oh, and there was a space heater near my table which kept me nice and warm and was much appreciated! The host and the waitress were both friendly and efficient. My friend ordered the enchiladas. He enjoyed his meal. I ordered the carnitas rancheras and enjoyed mine as well. The meat was really flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the sauce as well, but the meat was so good on its own I could take or leave the sauce (a good piece of meat often needs no sauce in my opinion). As is the standard at most Mexican places, warm chips and homemade salsa was served complimentary... both were also refilled without asking which was nice! We've driven by this place many time and finally stopped for lunch. We very quickly after being seated received our bowl of chips and salsa to munch on while looking at the menu. The salsa was rather bland but our server quickly brought over a hotter sauce to mix in and it was perfect. I liked the fact that the salsa was delivered in a carafe, ensuring we would not run out. I ordered the chicken fajita. I was surprised when it was delivered on a regular plate rather than a sizzling hot pan which I'm used to seeing. Thankfully that didn't effect the taste,vexcept the refried beans which were more like a refried paste. The rice was seasoned lightly, no more is needed with the chicken and veggies in the fajita. Never ate here before so decided to stop for lunch. All I can say is that this is the last time I will be eating here. Here ase some reason for my disappointment. When we sat down the server brought over a basket of nacho chips and some salsa. The chips were just ok but the salsa was completely bland and flavorless. No acid and no spice what so ever. I asked the server fr some hot sauce to add to the salsa. I expexted a condiment carrier with a variety of jarred sauces but all I got was a small bowl of what looked like some type of bulk purchased red pepper sauce and with no spoon to mix some with the salsa or put on my food. At first I thought the lack of a spoon was just an oversight then saw that just about every table was asking for hot sauce which were also served without spoons. I guess everyone elses food was also bland and flavorless. Not a good thing at all. I ordered a rice bowl with pork off the main menu and not off, it was not on the lunch menu. It was a very small portion, even smaller than I would expect a reduced price lunch portion would be but I was still charged the full dinner menu price. And again the food was bland and flavorless even after pouring the rest of the hot sauce on it. Not COVID flavorless but just cooked flavorless. I know I didn't loose me sence of taste because the Iced Tea with lemon tasted fine. I guess it comes down to this, I don't recommend this restaurant unless you don't care about eating bland, flavorless food. There are probablt people out there that would love this place because they are into eating bland, flavorless food. This restaurant has a new manager. I'm not going to blame the manager other than for the fact that she is not there for like three hours in the middle of the day. Every time I go, it's at that time. All I order is a taco salad, ground beef, no tomatoes, no beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and a spoonful of guacamole. They have not gotten it right ever. The first time all I got was a taco shell with ground beef in it. That's it, nothing else. The communication is awful because there's no English speaking people in that restaurant. Apparently the manager is, but she's not there midday. This can't go on. I used to like it when I first moved to Clarence and the previous manager. Was there all the time at least it seemed like he was.. you can't run a special cuisine restaurant with people who don't speak. Speak English when your client is basically English speaking. Questions will be asked. Answers will be needed needed. This is frustrating. read more

Service poor, our waiter had on far too much cologne, and could not be found to refill drinks or bring the check. Mind you, only three other tables were occupied in the place. I got a combination plate with a beef enchilada a chili relieno, rice and beans. I was so full but just had to finish it. This has become my number one go to for Mexican take out in the east Amherst/Clarence area. I've tried a few things here, but the chicken chimichangas have been the best and usually what I get, with a side order of rice. Really can't go wrong with that. Their prices are similar to other local places and portions good sized. Only complaint I've had so far is the cheese dip takeout order is a very tiny for $4 so I don't get that anymore, but otherwise everything is excellent. More like Hell Ranchito. I could not be any more upset with this place and even though I've sent dozens of people here over the years for excellent Tex-Mex stuff I will never send anyone here again. To start with they are a local chain that exists in various Rochester suburbs as well as a very successful location in Batavia. They have four star quality food that used to be more like five star. But the service is about -100 Stars. It's not cuz they weren't friendly. They were. But when I called ahead and asked them if they could give me a side of chipotle sauce and they said no problem well that sounded to me like I was getting a little side of chipotle sauce. They sure did give me a little side of chipotle sauce. It was one of those tiny little cups that is basically not really a serving at all. You know the one I mean. You can dip once and then it's over. Well apparently this thing which tasted much more like blue cheese mixed with Frank's hot sauce and anything Mexican gave them the license to add 7 yes 7 yes I said 7 and I do mean $7 to My overall bill. I mean what do you think's going to happen when you do that? When you rip me off to that degree? Without even ringing up in the cash register? What's going to happen is you're going to get A5 star review turn into a 1 and have me tell everybody that I know who I recommended this place to what kind of practice you're running. I ordered the burrito Ranchero and my fiancée ordered the enchiladas poblano and they were both phenomenal! The best authentic Mexican restaurant I have ever had! We even topped it off with churros and fried ice cream, which were both amazing and did not disappoint! 10/10 recommend their frozen Mango Margarita too! Poor experience from the management. Received a Gift Certificate as a christmas gift from family member, and was just getting around to using it. At the end of the meal, when I presented the server with the GC and my CC to cover the additional $$, she and the manager were not going to accept the GC and were trying to accuse me of fake/forgery of the GC. They said that a single letter in my last name looked similar to the signature on the GC so he was not going to accept. He tried to say that he signs all records of GC and that this was a fake, and that he has no record of that GC. I explained that my sister had purchased the GC in November/December (She had exact date of the purchase) and she had come in during lunch time and purchased from the woman that was there. We provided all this information and gave a description of the woman. So after talking to other server and showing the GC to them, they realized that it was from someone who no longer worked there. It was signed by the former staff person so the GC was in fact vaild. They did accept the GC but not after going thru all of this back and forth. The staff member recognized the signature on the GC and said it was the lady who formerly worked there. I received no apology from the manager for the accusal of the fake. The manager did nothing and the staff was more helpful and apologetic. The manager hid in the back and did nothing to assist his staff with this situation. We will not be back to this location due to management treatment. read more

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food then El Ranchito is the place you have to go. I'm from San Diego and grew up eating Mexican food daily, since moving to Buffalo it had been my mission to find authentic Mexican. I found it!! Walking in reminded me of all the taco shops I visited back home. The place is clean, staff is friendly and the menu is extensive. I ordered my usual chicken chimichanga lunch special, my daughter two burritos and my husband ordered tacos with chorizo and carne asada. There is something about the salsa here!!! This was our first visit to El Ranchito. I don't know why I seem to always forget to try them when I'm looking for something new. I won't forget them next time. This place is muy bueno! We showed up a little after 5 on a Thursday afternoon. It seemed a bit early for dinner, but neither my husband nor I had eaten lunch, so we were hungry for dinner early. Good thing, too! Not long after we were seated, the crowd started rolling in. Right away we were impressed by the friendliness of the staff. Riaz seated us & then took our order. He was very personable & attentive. I'd recommend this place over and over again on that fact alone. The atmosphere is what you expect in a Mexican restaurant, but the music was a little loud for my taste. The menu offers a great variety of authentic options & fair prices. The drinks, chips & salsa came out quickly and we were able to get a refill on the chips very easily. We split a double order of chicken fajitas and had a good bit more than we could eat. The food was really good, but the flour tortillas are large for what I expected, which made them harder to hold while filling. The salsa had a really good flavor, but was more tomatoey than most I've had. I liked it, but my husband wasn't a huge fan. Still, it was great overall and I'm being picky. El Ranchito was easily able to accommodate a large group of ladies, and plenty of couples and small groups. We ordered takeout on 3/2/24. The food was bland and cold. I don't think there was a single spice in the food. The re-fried beans looked bad and tasted like paper mache. The rice was hard and cold and probably sat in a pot somewhere for hours. We ordered two chicken bowls...the chicken was shredded and not a single piece was larger than a dime. I wish we would have gone to Chipotle ... at least you get what you expect. Terrible! read more
