Big Rig's BBQ is a local restaurant that serves smoked meats (e.g., brisket, pork belly, turkey, kielbasa, pulled pork, and baby-back ribs), sandwiches (e.g., brisket grilled cheese, crispy hot chicken, and triple pig), sides (e.g., baked beans, coleslaw, Brussels sprouts, and potatoes), a kids' menu, a couple desserts, beverages, etcetera. The meats are smoked daily with a blend of hickory, cherry, and apple woods. Dining in, carry-out, delivery, and catering are available. So far, my husband and I have eaten three lunches from Big Rigs BBQ--two for dining in and one as a $250 takeout for family. We have tried most of the menu items and really enjoyed all of them. I have not yet tried every BBQ restaurant in the Pittsburgh region, but so far, Big Rig's BBQ is our favorite. For meats, we ate the brisket (5 stars, very tender and flavorful), baby-back ribs (5 stars, fall-off-the-bone and tasty), pulled-pork shoulder (4.5 stars, nicely smoked and goes well with the many sauces), original kielbasa (4.5 stars), cheddar-jalapeno kielbasa (4.5 stars), pineapple kielbasa (5 stars, an explosion of unique, delicious flavors), pork-belly burnt ends (4.5 stars, tender with a very flavorful sauce), turkey (4.5 stars, juicy and flavorful), and smoked turkey-club sandwich (5 stars, my husband loves its cheddar, bacon, lettuce, and dijonaise). For sides, we ate the mac and cheese (4 stars, American, cheddar, and pepper jack), potato salad (4.5 stars, with bacon, scallions, cheddar cheese, bell peppers, and mustard), cornbread (5 stars, with cheddar cheese and BBQ honey butter), BBQ baked beans (5 stars, very flavorful ingredients), and brussels sprouts (5 stars, tasty sauce). This BBQ restaurant also serves some salads. I ate a BBQ salad (5 stars) with my choice of protein, Nashville Chicken Breast. This salad might be the most loaded-up that I have ever eaten. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes as well as generous amounts of chicken, bacon, cornbread croutons that look ~2" in diameter, cheese, onions, and cranberries.

Got the bbq ribs here and they were very tasty. Also got the tangy sauce I think, which I really liked. My only complaint about the ribs is they were more on the dry side than fall off the bone and I usually prefer the latter. As far as sides go, best potato salad I've ever had. The Mac and cheese was also surprisingly really good, the color was throwing me off

Food was really good. For 5 people we were full! Got the Big Rigs Family Platter Lots of space, order at the front, sit down and they bring your food.

This place is fantastic! We are from south Mississippi and it's hard to find what we call "good bbq" but these guys knocked it out of the park

However much I wanted to love this place, I just thought it was okay. The brisket in the brisket sandwich was a little dry and required a lot of bbq sauce to go down. The Mac and cheese was very liquidy. The standout dish was the side of beans- very flavorful. The service was really friendly though and the interior was cute so I hate to knock this place down a star but I do not think I'd make the drive to come back.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it is well worth the stop. Simple counter ordering and interior. They have all the bbq staples. We've tried ribs, pulled pork sandwich, brisket and more. Some favorites include the pork belly burnt ends, crispy brussels sprouts, and mac and cheese. It's a more traditional BBQ menu than Mitch's, but it's on par for some of the best BBQ in Pittsburgh.

Big Rig's BBQ makes delicious food. There's a big open kitchen behind the counter, so you can see seasoning, cooking, etc. happening right in front of you. Everything we had was great. (Tip: To go is not be a good idea if you are at all hungry and have a medium-to-long drive -- the food smells SO good, you will likely be tempted to pull onto a shoulder and start eating.) The restaurant was very clean, and the tangy Carolina (mustard based) sauce was surprisingly *fantastic* with the mac and cheese. I'm glad we gave it a try!

Wow wow wow. I'm from North Carolina, so finding decent barbecue is hard in my opinion. Enter Big Rig's- the best bbq I have EVER had. Their meat is tender and their sauces are spot on. I'm picky about Carolina mustard sauce, and theirs is out of this world. AND they have killer sweet tea. Makes my little heart feel at home. The space is cute and picnicy and the staff are so so so friendly. Great customer service here. From a girl who grew up on NC BBQ, Big Rig's is doing it RIGHT!

Portions too big, too expensive, too salty. Will not be back. Almost inedible. A heart attack waiting to happen.

Andy was so great to work with and was always available to answer any and all of my questions. He was so great at communicating leading up to the event and the day of, and was very accommodating as I live in VA and needed a family member to pick up the food for me. Andy explained to my cousin what each sauce was, how to setup the serving racks, etc. We did the three entrees and three sides for 30 people and it was more than enough food. Everyone at the shower couldn't stop talking about how good everything was! We ordered the pulled pork, brisket, and the kielbasa for the main meats and scalloped potatoes and mac n' cheese, as well as a pasta salad for the sides. The mac n' cheese is the best mac n' cheese I've had in quite a while, it was a huge hit! I would definitely recommend all of the dishes we ordered. As I mentioned, we had more than enough food, so we had a little leftover at the end of the shower. The food kept well overnight and we ate the rest for lunch the next day and it was all still just as good. A big thank you to Andy and Pittsburgh Smokehouse for your amazing food and being so helpful in the process! The price cannot be beat for the quality and quantity of food. I will definitely be ordering from here again whenever we have a family get-together in PA!

Their menu listed rattlesnake tails, candied bacon, pork-belly pinwheel, bacon-on-a-stick, bang-bang pork-belly bites, and mac and cheese. I ordered the Bacon on a Stick for $8. An employee served me well. The bacon was about several inches tall and was very thick. Eating the bacon off a stick was a bit of a challenge. When I bit the bacon with my teeth, the bacon immediately slid off the stick. I ended up holding the bacon in my hands. It did taste very good.

The brunette mentioned she had only been there for five days, but you never would have known it. She did an excellent job checking on guests and making sure everyone was taken care of. I ordered the 3-bone rib dinner with mac and cheese. I'll admit, I'm a bit of a rib snob, but these were outstanding. They had the perfect glaze with a nice crisp on the outside, weren't overcooked, and were so tender but not falling off the bone without being overly fatty. Easily some of the best ribs I've ever had. The mac and cheese was good, but it was spicier than I could handle. It would be nice if there were a non-spicy option available. We enjoyed a few beers, great food, and sat out on the patio listening to blues music on a beautiful summer evening. It was the perfect atmosphere, and I can't wait to come back. The only downside is that parking can get a little tight when they're busy, but it's well worth the visit.

Food and drinks are ready in just a few minutes and the dining area is ample with clean tables and clean floors. An upgrade of plastic utensils would be appreciated however. The chili was especially good as was the pork BBQ sandwich. Prices were reasonable to add to the experience. Parking can be a problem but there is some to be found on the other side of the street but lacks a crosswalk so be very careful.
