Think simple old school single room bar/restaurant set up. Seating for 40 at the tables and booths, maybe 14 at the bar. We came in for lunch, however they tell us they get a pretty good evening crowd. I kind of want pretty much everything on the menu. Settled on the rib teaser. Thought about the pork burnt ends, but kitchen said they weren't ready, so went with brisket burnt ends instead. My lovely counterpart got a half pound of brisket with several sides. Rib teaser, advertised as 3 to 4 bones: they serve me four large bones, cut and then smoked I think; tons of meat. Just a little bit of totally delightful crisp on the outside, and perfect lovely ribs. These are amazing. For this meal at least, I think they are the star of the show. Brisket by the pound: "It's moist. There's good bark. It's not as good as yours." "I would get it again though." Brisket burnt ends: these are delicious. I like them better than I like the plain brisket. They may be a little tougher than ideal? Very big chunks. Slaw: simple, fresh. It's actually a great foil for the meat and barbecue sauce, etc. Corn bread: "It's pretty good." Fries: these are potatoey fries, hand cut in-house. They are just absolutely fantastic; the seasoning is subtle and perfect. The french fries are special. Baked beans: this is a bean stew with a fair amount of broth and huge chunks of brisket. "I think the beans are done just right." They are smoky and not too sweet. My lovely counterpart is completely impressed with these beans.

I stopped by here this past Thursday night with my wife for dinner. Every other Thursday our…read moreneighborhood has food trucks come in and on this night it was Evil Swines turn. Since it is a food truck, there isn't too much to say about it other than it looked like your normal truck. Inside there were two workers, one taking your order and expediting with the other one cooking. Since this is a BBQ place, I am always interested in the meats they have available as well as the sauces. On this evening they had pulled pork and chicken for the meats and a single red sauce. The sauce ended up being self serve from a single bottle which pre-Covid probably wouldn't have been a big deal but was something that I definitely noticed. What did make this food truck different than many of the others that have visited our neighborhood is that they seemed to push out the food a lot quicker. For dinner on this evening I ultimately decided to have the chicken sandwich while my wife went with the pulled pork nachos. Our wait for our food was approximately 5 minutes and then our name was called, I grabbed some BBQ sauce and we headed home, food in hand. Whenever I tried my sandwich, I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed. The chicken was fairly dry and I didn't get a smoky flavor from it and the bun wasn't toasted. Since the chicken was dry I dipped it into the bbq sauce and while it wasn't bad, it wouldn't have been my first choice if there were other options. My wife did seem to like her nachos a bit better and the pulled pork that I tried was definitely better than the chicken, so maybe I just picked poorly? The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't head back here again in the future. Nothing was bad per se, but the food didn't excite me and I can certainly get much better BBQ for the price in Pittsburgh.

Even though the food came out fast we were in line for about 30 minutes. Before we got to order they erased the chicken off of the white board menu. Had the pulled pork with cheddar and slaw with a side of Mac & Cheese. The pulled pork was very good...nice flavor with a little of the bbq smoke flavor and tender. The Mac was very good and it seemed to have just a tad of red pepper to give it a little heat to go with a creamy cheese. There are two bottles with sauce, a Alabama white that is very good with some spice and a red. If you are in the area, stop and try it out.

It was located in Irwin for months and then relocated to a larger building with indoor seating in Trafford. My husband and I ate one meal here. An employee promptly and kindly greeted us and told us to sit at a table of our choosing. Several booths were available. I thought that the walls could use some barbeque-themed artwork. The employee soon took our orders and brought out our drinks and foods. Throughout our meal, she checked in on us to see if we needed anything. I ordered two combos and ribs. Here are my reviews for the individual foods: Brisket - 4.5 stars - Could be a bit juicier but has very good smoky flavors. Pulled pork - 4.5 stars - A bit chunky so could be more shredded, but good flavors. I requested sandwich buns, and they were large size. Pulled chicken - 4.5 stars - Enough meat for one good-sized sandwich. Could use toppings such as pickles. Jalapeno-cheddar Sausage - 4.5 stars - Good balance of cheese and spiciness. My husband's favorite meat. Chicken wings - 4.5 stars - Flavorful seasoning. Ribs - 4.5 stars - Not fall-off-the-bone, so could be more tender, but I really liked the flavors. Macaroni and cheese - 4 stars - Nicely cooked noodles. Could use a bit more gooey cheese. Collard greens - 4.5 stars - Nice spiciness. Cornbread - 4.5 stars - Moist. I personally prefer a bit more corn, but this side was my husband's favorite. Sauces - 5 stars - The meats were flavorful on their own, but several sauces were available, and we found a few favorites.

The food is good, as long as you go in with the right expectations. This isn't fine dining, but it's a nice take on vegetarian-accessible pub food, slightly elevated. The vegan tofu wrap was nicely done with crispy fried tofu, but it was heavily dependent on the availability of various sauces for flavor. The "disc brake bean cakes" were somewhat unique, but still good when fully assembled with all the relevant toppings. They would probably be better described as black bean crepes with Tex-Mex toppings. I highly recommend ordering several different sauces to go with your meal (buffalo, barbecue, diablo, etc.). We ordered takeout this time, and the overall ordering experience was good. There is an online ordering page, but the items on that page aren't completely aligned with menus on the web site. We ended up calling to place an order, which was still very easy. All the food was well packaged and ready to go exactly when they said it would be. This is a great South Side destination, especially when you're looking for something comfortable and relatively low key but still fun.
