Took my parents here recently on a Tuesday afternoon for apply picking and we had such a a great time. You buy your tickets at the front. The staff are always friendly, they kindly explain all the prices and any other questions that we have. We were told where to wait for the ride/tractor to the apple field. Didn't take long at all! The driver that day was the sweetest lady! She was informative and told us which apple was her favorite and what to look out for. Going to any orchard can be pricey but Westview is worth it! They keep this place tidy and fun for all visitors.. already made plans with a few other friends so I'll will be back in a few days (they also have best cornmaze btw). Highly recommend Westview!

Came here on a fieldtrip with the little ones. They seemed to like it but it was a long day in the…read moresun. The playground was cute for them, I liked the basketball hoop and the underground tubes they could crawl through. They had a chance to feed the animals, but I did not get much time over there this time. They loved the very large slide. There is a hay bale for the kids to jump around, but the images online look like it might be several tiers, but on this day it was only two and the kids told me there were a lot of hole. The tractor ride was fun. Since it is summer, I did not see anything to pick yet, but it looked like they will have a bunch for fruits and vegetables in the fall. There is a large area for the kids to have lunch, some of it was covered. I did not have a chance to check out the store, wine section, or anything outside the kid area. I did not try any cider, but we had cinnamon sugar donuts. I only had one bite and gave the rest to my child, but it was very delicious and fairly large. It tasted nice and fresh. I wonder if the donuts are this large in the fall. There was an outdoor concession stand. They sold drinks and treats, the turnovers looked delicious. My child got a cider/ blue raspberry slush, it was a very hot day so it was good they sold them. I liked that they had real bathrooms with running water. But I wish they had a better water filling station for the kids. They were getting very hot and the only places to fill their water was the bathroom sink or next to the animals and they were not excited about either of those options. Plus, the kids were very little, so they did not have money from home to buy cold waters. The people working here seemed nice and seemed to have experience with fieldtrips with little kids. I am not sure if I will come back and bring the rest of my family, but if I do, it would be on a weekend in the Fall to check out the rest of their offerings.

The huge building you enter today was constructed in 1894 when the business focused primarily on cider production. So many changes over the years...yet many things remain intact. Was Harry Yates responsible for starting the tradition of donuts and cider back in the 1930's? Today These days you'll be able to buy Frankenmuth Fudge, Zak & Mac's chocolates and Posey's hot dogs and snacks, all at Yates. They've also added a small petting farm. The list of Yates products has expanded well beyond just donuts. Today, we bought a 1/2 peck of our favourite apples, the honeycrisp, as well as Aged Bourbon syrup, applesauce, pickles, hard candy for the grandkids and even a cool sweatshirt. Cider prep Somewhere along the line they changed their processing to UV light treating which pretty much obliterates the mother at the bottom of the jug and has a definite effect on the overall taste. So to confirm our suspicions we bought a half gallon (with donuts, of course). We were right. Nature trails? There are three immediate trails ranging from 1 to 1-1/2 mile loops We spent an hour on their Railroad Trail a.k.a. The Yates Trail. A mile long walking loop. With plenty of colour. Nothing like a walk with nature. Parking has always been a challenge. There is an overflow across the road. Mostly it's just a matter of patience. Pro Tip: Try to come on a weekday morning. Weekends in the fall are filled with families. The staff was hurried but cordial, as usual. We've always found long lines here. So that's to be expected. I amongst considered going back in to get a dozen. The cider is quite flavorful with the mulling spices here. They have an assortment of apples here and bosc pears too. Bring cash here, they don't have an ATM Machine and they charge you a 3% convenience with your purchase when you use a credit card here.

The orchards seemed well maintained and the signs show you to which rows you're allowed to pick in; staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely stop in the shop for apple cider and donuts, and if you're there around lunch check out the BBQ food truck! I tried the smoked macaroni and cheese, green beans, and baked beans--fun to eat a tasty lunch in the sun, and not too far from the orchards. My friend said the pulled pork was delicious!

The $14 fee is to walk through several rows of vendors selling things you get to see for free at plenty of local farmers' markets and fall festivals. You need to pay extra to pick sunflowers. I didn't buy it but I think the slushie with whipped cream topped with a donut was around $12, which is absolutely nuts. None of the drinks here are that large. Some years ago I went to the haunted house. I remember that the haunted house didn't take too long to walk through. It's always fun to go to pretty much any cider mill in the state in the fall, Blake's is no exception. My point is that there are many other more authentic less commercialized cider mills in the area that are worth visiting and where you get more bang for your buck.
