After nearly 10 years I'll no longer be a customer. Was told I needed $1700 rear brake repairs just two years since they last did major repairs to rear brakes. Asked another automotive to inspect rear brakes giving the exact same info and not even that Big O had already inspected them. SECOND SHOP FOUND NO REPAIRS REQUIRED OR EVEN INDICATED! My battery needed replaced. I went to O'Reilly's to buy a battery. O'Reilly's installs batteries but not when they are under the passenger's seat. I asked how much for the battery ($214) They referred me to Big O's Tires. I went there and asked what batteries they used. They said the use O'Reilly's batteries. My daughter was moving her horse to a barn closer to Springfield. On 65 South, north of I-44 one of the trailer tires blew out. Driving out to get her, I passed Big O tires and saw it was open. When I got to daughter, we got the spare (which was flat, of course) and I went to Big O to buy a tire. They were just closing down for the day but got us a tire, mounted and on our way very fast, My daughter was so worried about her horse in the trailer on the side of the highway. I had them do front end alignments on two of my vehicles few months later noticed they was wearing on the inside so I took them back and had them re aligned and several month later both front tires on both vehicles was down to the metal. Had to replace front tires on both and front end alignments done right on both. They told me there is nothing they can do about replacing the tires I had to buy because of their shady work. I took my truck in for a wheel alignment. They said it needed lower ball joints on both sides and a tie rod end, well over $500 for the work. I replaced them myself and the old ones felt great to me. I took the truck somewhere else for the alignment and showed them the old ones. The mechanic also said the old ones were in excellent shape. Another truck failed inspection due to supposedly a bad lower A-arm. It was fine at the last inspection, less than 1,000 miles earlier ( the truck just sat there most of the last 2 years). That repair was over $500 also. I strongly doubt it needed the new A-arm. This follows replacing two other ball joints that also felt good on the previous inspection. Overall, nearly $2,500 in very suspicious replacement parts over the last 3 years. Never going there again. read more

I stood there while they discussed what they could get her to buy. I was 30 min early for an appointment. Do not go here ever, especially if you're a woman. I went in with my car needing tires. After researching, I decided they had the best deal. They told me with the warranty I would need an alignment, which was fine it was due for that. They come back to me 30 minutes later with a piece of paper telling my car needs a new part, is too dangerous to drive, and that I'm going to have to spend an additional $1,500 more than I had planned. Three men, including the shop manager told me this. I had a panic attack. They told me that was the only thing. Took it home (it drove fine) and told my husband. We set an appointment at our local car place. They had just seen it because it needed a tune up and said, "We could have missed that but that seems unlikely." They take a look at it and come back to us with, "Your car just needs a special type of alignment. It will be $260." My husband went to Big O and asked them why they lied. They started to blame a new guy and blah, blah, blah. My husband proceeds to tell them that the shop manager told me along with two other men, so it couldn't just be a new guy. They just say it was a mistake. No, they thought they could scare me and they almost did. Yesterday a friend of mine messaged our group chat to say he's been quoted that to fix his car will be $2200. We tell him to get a second estimate. The second shop tells him lol no, it will be $860. They have no idea where they got $2200. So this place lies to people. They do it with a smile and don't really care if they're ripping you off. Do not go to them. Especially if you're young or a woman. I have taken my car here many times because my dad likes them. Took way too long to get my car into the shop (around 45 mins) just for them to say the plug is working and to not worry. I had to continue driving for school and my tire got so bad my dad had to take it off in order to replace it--meaning HE replaced my tire at HOME. I got a new tire and they had worked on my front driver's side tire as well. Shortly after they worked on that one, my hub cap goes missing. Why would someone steal only one? Orrrr maybe these guys didn't put it back on correctly and it flew off! Now, I have to buy all new ones :) they were joking around and laughing the entire instead of actually being helpful. Took it to a very trusted mechanic that is a friend of ours and he said the ball joints are perfectly fine and that my wheels just needed balanced. They charged me for something they didn't even do. I WILL NEVER TAKE ANYTHING TO BIG O TIRES AGAIN! PLEASE READ AND NEVER GO TO BIG O TIRES! They will take extreme advantage of you specially if you are a woman. I have pictures below showing how crooked they are. Took my vehicle in for a basic oil change. They inform me that I need new brakes and rotors. I tell them to fix that also. When I come to pick my car up I get a huge shock. My bill was $516.28 for an oil change and to put front rotors and brake pads on my car. My heart stopped. I know automotive shops GET DISCOUNTS on the parts that they buy from parts stores. They DO NOT pay retail. They got the parts for my car from Autozone. I know that because Autozones part numbers are on the receipt. Autozone part number DG923 front pads are 41.99 plus tax retail. BIG O TIRE charged 66.67 plus tax. That's $25 more than retail. They marked them up about 50%. Then the brake rotors, Autozone part number 31270 are 51.99 plus tax a piece retail. BIG O TIRE charged 94.27 a piece plus tax. Thats $43 more than retail a piece. They marked them up about 60% a piece. The next thing is, I know it only takes about 1 hour to change front rotors and brake pads. They charged 1.60 hours of labor at $120 dollars an hour. Then to throw even more salt in the wound of a single mother they charged $23.51 on shop supplies. I called a couple other shops to see what it would cost to get my front brakes and rotors changed. I was told between $250 to $270 plus tax. So if you added my oil change to that you are looking at $280 to $310 plus tax. Not the $516.28 that i was shocked with. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE THAT YOU KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM BIG O TIRE. THEY WILL GOUGE YOU AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. I bought four new tires at Big O and it was a horrible experience. For starters, they were supposed to call me if they thought I needed an alignment, but instead they just did one and charged me $90. Then when I pick up my truck I see that white tire goo all over my wheels. Once inside my truck I notice all the tires were inflated to different pressures (high of 43 lbs, low of 32 lbs). So when I stop to fix that I notice they didn't map the pressure sensors to the correct wheel locations AND they pushed hard enough on one of my wheels that they broke the chrome cladding loose. On top of that they took my GMC factory lock nut removal tool out of glove box and hadn't returned it. When I went back to get my tool back and see if they could compensate me for the damage they did to my wheels, they refused to help me. The manager was very ignorant and had a bad attitude. So then I mentioned leaving a bad review the manager threatened to sue me if I did. Do yourself a favor and avoid the multitude of problems you will experience at Big O. read more

Twice I have brought in flat tires, one from a wheelbarrow and then today two from my lawn mower. Both times I was told a time that they would be ready and both times my jobs were put aside and not done when I returned. Today I was told a couple of hours and returned over three hours later to find that they weren't done yet. At that point I was told a couple of minutes. Finally left 27 minutes later. Let me tell you a story about my experience. I'm a young college student working a job at a restaurant so I don't make much money. My car engine light kept coming on, flashing, and my car would shake. Took it to big O' tires thinking it was a small fix. I took it in 5 times!!! NOT ONCE DID THEY ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM!! I spent almost $1,650 for them to do ALL this work and it wasn't fixed!! I had to take out a bank loan to pay for this on top of my other bills that I barely can pay for. I went to a REAL MECHANIC shop ("Barnett's repair shop" in Rogersville, MO). They found out i was just needing a new fuel filter. Cost me $65. Car fixed. But yet I still owe big O' tires all that money. They may act nice but they don't know wtf they're doing. Thanks alot dumbasses. read more

It'd be zero if possible. Went for a standard vehicle inspection. Took them 2 hours just to get to my car, after being told it would only take 1. Took another hour of it being on the lift and no one doing anything about it. They then proceeded to tell me there was roughly 2 grand needed in repairs to the car. Took it to my local mechanic after, and cut that price down by an insane amount. All I needed was new wipers and eventually now rotors. Big Os told me a lot more was needed than that. My local mechanic walked me through each area of the vehicle to see if what Big O said was true, and it was a load of bull. Only good part was that they passed my vehicle because they took so long, so I was still able to register it. My local wasn't going to pass it because of another issue that Big O didn't even notice. read more

Big O used to be our go to tire shop. Unfortunately they did us dirty on some wheels we bought so we will not be back. We spent a ton on new wheels and tires for my husband's truck and within 3 months the coating was coming off one of the wheels. My husband went back and spoke to the manager and they said it was under warranty but the wheels were on back order. They said they were having trouble getting things due to covid. This went on for over a year and kept promising they would call us when they could get a replacement. We had not heard from them for awhile so we called to check on situation and they told us that the manager that was helping us is no longer employed there and they have no record of our wheel trouble and now it is our of warranty. We have spent thousands of dollars with this company over the years and they could not give a hoot that we will not be coming back. We made an appointment to go in to have one front tire repaired and our car inspected for re-licensing. Within 15 minutes of our arrival, which includes the time that it took for them to get our information and the information about the car, they managed to find around $1,500 worth of problems that had to be repaired before the car would pass inspection. We managed to haggle it down to $1,200, which included: front brake pads, brake rotors, outer tie rods, lower ball joints, drive belt, two new tires (we were told that both front tires were beyond repair), and safety inspection fee. I didn't think that all of those repairs needed to be done; the brakes weren't soft and the tire we wanted to repair was in good condition. After discussing the situation for a few minutes with each other, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. We were able to get into another place that a friend recommended for the inspection; we showed the mechanic the quote from Big O, and he looked for the problems that Big O had found. The only problem he saw was that the tie rods needed replacing. When I complained about Big O on social media, we were invited by the GM to speak to the store manager. The store manager took a look at the car, and admitted that the pads were a little worn, but passable. He told us that the guy inspecting the vehicle was being a little rigid. We were just starting to feel good about Big O in general when he started talking about how he had thought about calling the State Highway Patrol to be there when we showed up, and how he had been thinking about getting the mechanic who passed the vehicle in trouble. I was confused since he said this after he agreed that the major problem was fixed and that he would've passed it; maybe he should have kept how he initially felt when he heard about our valid complaint to himself. We would have returned later in the year to buy a couple of new tires, but I think we will go somewhere else now. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. I'm from out of town and found this place because they honor my package for wheel alignments but I honestly would have rather paid a different place to do it. After 2 hours they never called so I finally asked if my car was done... not only had they let me sit there for 2 hours, they told me that my tierods were bent and that they wouldn't be able to align my wheels unless I paid $200 to do so. So I wasted my afternoon, took it to my mechanic back home and he even pulled the pieces and showed me first hand that nothing was bent nor needed to be fixed. I went there to get a alignment because I got my tires from the company. Well I pulled off the lot and car was pulling to the right. Called them and talked to the assistant manager and was given the chance to come back in and get it fixed. So I did and as soon as I walked in the guy standing at the register, who was the assistant, just looked at me I said who I was and he didn't even introduced himself, said Yeah, do you have your keys. He was very smug and not friendly at all. Everything checked out after and they showed me. Yet again I drove off the lot with it still messed up. On top of that I checked my tire pressure and they hadn't even filled my tires so they were low. I proceeded to go put air in myself and then noticed that my pressure censors are backwards on my car. Not only did I not receive friendly customer service but I also had no correct alignment and backwards censors now. This is my first review on Yelp. Big o tires in north Springfield is a joke, I took my 2015 Impala in to get a leaking tire fixed. They fixed this same tire 4 months ago. I told them it has a slow leak. They checked it out, and could not find a leak. I have taken my car back three times in a week because the tire is leaking. When they pull the tire and put it in the dunk tank they say we do not see any bubbles. I tell them in is a slow leak about 2#'s a day at the end of the week i will have to air up my tire again. So today i pulled my tire and took it back in and tell them it is leaking air and I want them to replace it under warranty. They guy behind the counter abruptly barks at me that there is nothing wrong with the tire. I tell him again it is a slow leak and if cannot repair it he needs to replace it. He refuses and then blames the weather for the air loss. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Where do they get these guys, he asked me want do you want me to do. I told him repair the tire or replace it. He again claims because he cannot see any air bubbles in the dunk tank that there is nothing wrong with the tire. I asked for the owners name and number and I hoping to get some help. I spent 584 dollars on tires for my car 1.5 years ago. I do not appreciate being treated like this by a no nothing counter guy. Update: After speaking with the owner I did get some help. He asked me to take the tire to the other Big O Tire shop in Springfield and they had no problem locating the leak in the tire. (thanks Jason) Unfortunately it was such a terrible repair job on the original leak Jason could not repair the tire. He happily replaced the tire with a brand new tire and I was on my way in less than 1 hour. Now that is some good customer service. I will never return to the Big O Tire shop on Glenstone they clearly do not know how to repair a tire or talk with customers to resolve an issue. read more

Great customer service. I was out of town and had a screw in my tire. They told me 45 minutes to an hour (already fastest in town after calling around) but had it up in about 20. Turned out the screw didn't penetrate and wasn't leaking. Didn't charge me and was in and out super quick. Life savers. Highly recommended. Nice waiting room too. read more
