6/5/2017 Here is the picture of it inside. REALLY GROSS!

I only give it 1 star for the honey mustard! Junior Beef three-way with lettuce and a small fry. 15 mins. in drive thru. Went back to work to eat my lunch. Open it up! Eeeeekkkkkk...it's well done shaved meat in a bun with a few piece of lettuce. French fries cold (brrrr). I can't believe it, I was dying for a good roast beef in Lawrence and boy was I a fool to go to Big n Beefy! It's not the kid at the window's fault, however, he needs to keep with the kitchen on the product being served! It's 95% drive-thru services. I think the Board of Health needs to make a visit there! Never again!

Big-N-Beefy is a pretty good fast food alternative to the usual McD's and BK, which is open late at night (at least 2AM), the ideal place to go to after hitting the bars. This Lawrence institution is very old school with much of their business using the drive-thru window. The place also has an order counter and a few tables inside and the restroom is pretty narrow and musty. Big-N-Beefy offers an extensive fast food menu including roast beef sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches (chicken, fish, pastrami, veal), tacos, burritos, fried foods, chili, shakes, soft serve ice cream, Pepsi fountain drinks, and bottled drinks. Breakfast is served until 11AM (breakfast sandwiches, hash browns). Combo meals (with fries & medium drink) are offered plus a Dollar Menu featuring corn dog, hamburger, small fries. and small grilled cheese. I stopped at Big-N-Beefy very recently to grab some dinner since I was craving a roast beef sandwich and some greasy fast food. I ordered a Jr. Roast Beef ($3.30) with horseradish (n/c) and lettuce (add 20 cents), a small fries ($1), a small chili ($2.69), and onion rings ($2.30), totaling $10.08 with tax. The Jr. Roast Beef was very good with medium well (not bloody) thin sliced roast beef on a soft toasted bun. The golden brown fries were crispy and great for dipping into the very greasy and thick bean and meat chili. The breaded onion rings were decent tasting and greasy. Heartburn City! Where are my TUMS??? Actually, some of the pizzas I've ordered from various places recently were greasier than the food served here.

Gross I said no cheese ...

Burgers here are delectable. Anyone that gives this place a bad review is an uncultured weenie.

I ordered two traditional chimi sandwiches and one Dominican hot dog from their outdoor setup. The bread on the chimis was excellent -- soft, substantial, and it reminded me of the Tripoli bread I love. The toppings were fresh and flavorful too. Unfortunately, the star of the sandwich (the beef patty) was a big letdown. It was extremely thin and unimpressive, which made the whole sandwich feel underwhelming despite the good bread and toppings. The Dominican hot dog was even more disappointing. I had high hopes for it, but it tasted like a generic, water-filled beef dog you'd grab from the convenience aisle at Market Basket. Nothing special or "Dominican-style" stood out. For $45 total (two chimis + one hot dog), I expected more from their signature outdoor offerings. The food I saw being prepared inside looked like standard fare, but the outdoor Dominican items I came for didn't deliver. If you're in the area and craving Dominican street food late at night, you might have better luck inside or elsewhere. I wanted to love this spot but left pretty disappointed.

Grassfields reminded me, in a nostalgic way, of a restaurant at which I worked in my college years…read more The decor, the ambiance, the wine list, the service, and the menu items, all contributed toward that. I suppose "rustic" would be a good term to describe the interior. The menu offers steaks at prices you'd have a difficult time finding elsewhere in the area, plus chicken, lamb, veal, and interesting specials. Our large group was seated over two tables, which worked well for us in terms of quality conversation among interested folks. Service was quick, friendly, and professional, and all our dinners came out at the same time. We ordered a few appetizers. They were good but a little inconsistent. The mozzarella sticks, homemade, were a little unconventional, with a panko-mozzarella crust. Better, in my opinion, were the buffalo chicken tenders. I mis-read the description of my Argentine Bowl, thinking it was more of a salad. It was steak tips, avocado, tomatoes, and black beans over rice, quite tasty. The person sitting next to me ordered a dinner special the lamb shank osso bucco. While the meat was delicious and tender, it could have had even more seasoning on it, and there was an unexpected amount of fat on the shank. Parking is a little awkward given the shape of the shopping center, and the location of the restaurant. It was nice to see signs designating spaces closest to the restaurant reserved for their customers. This restaurant was the go-to restaurant for the family hosting the dinner event. I can understand why, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Jaime's was just a short detour from our route and well worth it. From the moment we walked in, the place had the feel of a neighborhood restaurant that locals probably don't think twice about--but visitors are glad they discovered. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout our meal. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick things off. My partner ordered the fish tacos, while I went with the Fried Spicy Honey Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was outstanding--crispy chicken with just the right balance of sweetness and heat. It's the kind of sandwich I'd happily order again. One amusing moment came when I ordered a Manhattan. I don't think the bartender was normally behind the bar, because he had to look up the recipe before making it. It turned out just fine, and I suspect they have dedicated bartenders working the evening shift. Jaime's may be a little off the beaten path, but that's part of its charm. Good food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere made this an easy five-star stop. We'll definitely keep it in mind the next time we're headed through the area.
