I freakin' forgot how much I love Big Lots! Everything is so cheap!! And I can't believe I've never reviewed this on on Parham & Rt. 1 because I've been here dozens of times! There's a huge inexpensive furniture area, but it's all big and bulky stuff that I'm not fond of, but for starter furniture, the prices can't be beat. There's a enormous food, drink and snack section! More good values! And I went to the health & beauty department and stocked up on toothpaste and hair products! Super deals' But I went in specifically for the outdoor cushions! If you are looking for decent quality cushions, that will last several seasons, Big Lots has a fantastic selection! Some of the best in town! Big Lots is a Big Deal, but 3 stars for this one because the customer service was slow and it was messy! read more

Big lots has changed a lot since it's hay day in the 1990's. For starters the inventory was minimal. There was a big chunk of the store that was empty- it was odd. This location does sell lots of furniture and cozy oversized recliners at a great price but for the most part there's not a whole lot going on at Big lots! Meh 2 stars and a shrug from me. read more

Big Lots, gets a lot of shade. I like this one. Store is clean. Merchandise is labeled and stocked shelves. They sell items that everyone else does, but sometimes you can find better prices on items that never last. For me it's outside items. Garden hoses, seat cushions, pots ... things that the elements destroy in a year or 2. Everyone there is helpful, they are all crushed under the depression of being working poor, but they don't take it out on me. Thank you. read more

Having recently moved to Richmond, I was pleasantly surprised to find Big Lots. All the stores seem nice and tidy, the people were pleasant and helpful, and you can find things for good prices - i especially liked their outdoor items. I finally decided to become a rewards member and things changed suddenly. I ordered two items online using my welcome member 15% off. These unfortunately were available for pickup in two different stores in my area but that was not a huge deal. But on pickup day, one of the items was canceled because although it said it had been available at the store it was not. When I called customer service to have this shipped to me instead, I was told I could no longer use the 15% off coupon because it had been applied to the whole order. When I said I would cancel the whole order and re-order that didn't make any difference. The item in question was $90 so that 15% was definitely a factor in using this discount. I realize it's not that much money but I feel like in this day and age if a retailer isn't going to extend even that much consideration to their "rewards members" it's no wonder the smaller places go out of business!!! Especially since the initial issue was their fault - it clearly showed in stock at that store. If it hadn't, I would've had it shipped to me in the first place! It was very frustrating because after the customer representative spoke to her "senior representative" about my issue, she continued to read the same line from the same little card that he must've given her despite my explanation. I realize it wasn't her fault but the entire experience was souring. I had been strolling through the stores quite frequently and always found things to buy - I won't be going back. read more

Big Lots - Hot beverages - Department Stores Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

This place has been in a dire need of renovations for about 15 years. It smells of mold when you come in. The prices are great and the employees at least say hello when you walk in. The shelves are well kept and in order. There are a few rough spots in the floor that can cause someone to trip and hurt themselves badly. I would not touch the food here at all. Some items are out of reach and dangerous to get to no matter your height. I have previously noticed expired product in this very store. read more

Big Lots use to be somewhat of an enigma to me, the locations in NoVa were very few and far between so my trips to RVA usually included a trip to the store full of random objects at killer prices. This location is basically a total disaster. I find it to be rather unorganized, the shelves to be a haphazard mess of items that aren't stacked in any way, shape or form, and most of the items in leaking, torn, or beat up packaging. Don't get me wrong, with a little searching and shuffling, you can usually find something interesting and in decent shape, but it will take some work. Shockingly ... we did find something called PB2 which is a low calorie version of powdered peanut butter. Gross as this may sound it's pretty well known among dieters, diabetics and protein buffs. Usually PB2 can be found for around $7.00-$10.00 dollars per jar - we found it at Big Lots for $4.00. Not bad. Always check the expiration dates on the food though. When I am there, I usually pick up things like Febreze, laundry detergent and other household items. The prices are a little bit lower than Walmart but I really just go there to see what type of complete randomness I can find. The young woman at the checkout counter was really friendly but I didn't see any other employees out on the floor. read more
