It's a bit of a treasure hunt whenever one goes to Big Lots. They leave large sections of the floor space without shelves, so they can put whatever their purchasing department got for a deal on the floor, so they can sell it to the consumers for a deep discount. All of it is listed on-line on biglots.com, though part of the fun is finding the deals while physically browsing. It's not a grocery store, but they surprisingly have a lot of non-perishable food items. The problem is that the prices are just as high as what a drug store would charge for the convenience...$5.99 for a 10 pack of soda...not good. THe good deal is when they bought a lot of something that normally would not be in a drug store, and would only be in small quantities at a grocery store. An example were all different types of Bear Creek Dry soup mix....have had this many times (Costco sells it), and it's really good. They had boxes of this stuff sitting out, and the price was $3.99 (which is a lot less than normal ($6.49) price...though Vons is selling on sale right now for $3.99...it has to be related somehow. Of course, this will disappear once they run out. The rule might be...anything they will carry indefinitely (soda, cleaner, snacks) will be at full price. They use a queuing system like Marshalls, one long queue winding through shelves stocked with impulse-buy items, with a few manned registers at the end...so you don't have to worry about picking the wrong line. read more

I received a 20% off coupon via email and also had a 10% cash back offer on my debit card so I decided to do some shopping at Big Lots. My first choice was the Lakewood store; however, come to find out that it has closed! I find the Long Beach store to be too junky and I was close to the Bellflower store so I decided to shop at that location. I was happy to see furniture at this location and have been wanting an ottoman for quite some time. I did not find one in the exact color I was looking for but was happy to see different options in stock. I ended up with a new living room rug and was happy to see that this location had more items of substance in stock rather than the LB location. Store layout was common as in some other Big Lots locations I have shopped at and the aisles were clear and free of clutter. Plenty of parking is available as the lot is pretty big and shares it with a few other stores and a .99 store. Area seems like it can be a bit shady though. read more

It started out that I had my hometown Downey's Big Lots selected as "My Store" for a curbside pickup, but they had nothing in stock I wanted. Lol. So I changed the store to the Bellflower location. Much better results. Then I tried to purchase the items online only to have a message pop up to call customer service. After about a 20-minute call (including wait time) I was able to place my order with a person on the other end of the line. Our order was ready for pickup in just a couple of hours. Pretty swell for the COVID-19 quarantine if you ask me. But as it turned out, only five of ten items I wanted were *actually* in stock or whatever... So I knew exactly what the load might look like when an employee brought it out to our trunk. I called the store as soon as the hubbins parked. Busy. Understandable. On hold. Just as I was about to get out, a nice employee answered. When she brought out our order, it was awkward to have to show her my ID as I was trying to respect her sense of safety by keeping the window closed and my driver's license pressed against the window. She said, "Okay, want me to put this in the trunk?" I glanced at my lot and said, "Are you going back for the cushion?" I ordered a chaise lounge cushion. I showed her my order on my phone and pointed to the cushion description. She went back inside. Apologized. Said she'd be right back. Meanwhile I checked the items in trunk. There was a dang receipt with a better description of the cushion than what my phone had. The employee came back out and said she couldn't find it. I gave her the receipt and described it to her. It was a bit comical because I mentioned it is probably bigger than her. Finally, she came out giggling and apologized. It was just a minor setback, but could have easily been prevented had there been better communication between her - an employee who had just got to work - and the employee(s) who put my order together. read more

Anthony Watson the manager at the Bellflower location is super rude. He did not let me speak when I called to inquire about stores that were closing. He hung up on me. When I called back he said he hung up because he was going to start cussing at me which is why he hung up. I will be calling corporate in the morning! read more

If i could give 0 stars i would. I've gone to this store many times but unfortunately after my visit yesterday 5/15/21 i will NEVER return. I was going to purchase a few food items, & pay with EBT card but payment method was refused! Card is demagnetized & has to be entered manually. Which other Big Lots locations have done with no problem as well as many many other stores I've gone to. Cashier didn't know how to do it, she asked Emily store manager for assistance. Attitude right away, made rude unnecessary remark "well why haven't you replaced it" "don't you have another way of paying" "well we don't do that here" numerous times, all while rolling her eyes & shrugging her shoulders. Didn't bother to find a way to help or ask someone else if they knew how. Mumbling something under her breath while walking away. I asked for corporate number because this is no way to treat ANYONE, i also asked for District Managers name & number & she told cashier they didn't have one. That's a lie. for years my wife and have i been coming to this big lots store and nowhere else. this store have great items like other stores but with way more affordable price and many more. the workers in there are very friendly, always greet the customers with a big smile on their face and always willing to help. there is no other stores that my wife and i would rather go than this big lots store. i love this big lots store along with the workers and i'd recommend to all shoppers out there. i hope that it's going to be open for many many more years to come. a+++ read more

This is my go to Big Lots. The store is always well stocked, sometimes so well u can barely walk down the aisles lol. Its clean, it should be bigger because of all the furniture they carry. The only thing that i would complain about its a large strip mall with shared parking and the .99c store being their neighbor it can get seriously packed. And the employees are not the friendliest and they can be understaffed sometimes. All in all i love this store. read more

I have been a Big Lots shopper since they were picnsave. Today was my last time shopping there. Their return policy has changed and I just paid 15$ to return defective outdoor lights with a receipt. The store manager was an ass. Not friendly and annoyed with my return. He couldn't be bothered to help the very nice polite clerks who were trying to help me. The return policy is a shell game. O.k. here we go it has been a long time. But have never given up on this place. Loved it even when it was pic&save. So I stopped in to try to find some umbrellas for work the lunch tables. Had a large selection big ones that take the sand or water in the base. To the small ones that you take to the beach. Unfortunately no medium ones that would go through the tables tops. But none the less had all the cool stuff they always have had bad luck or the pocket book. read more

What a very friendly and staff, to begin with. Best big lots in town!!!!!!!! They have better staff and I'm telling you the place is looking better and better! Met the manager Moe and he helped me buy toooooooooo many things but I was extremely happy with what I bought and he helped me sign up for the loyalty card, as well as the credit card.
