He then charged me an extra 150 dollars on top of the extra money he got from my insurance company, because he lied about how much the insurance company pays for labor. He also said he charges extra 150 dollars because of the superior work that his business does as opposed to other auto body shops. On top of all this, I had to bring my car back to the shop because they did not properly finish the job and reconnect rear lights which is a safety issue his excuse was my technician said that the car was all set. That is terrible and shorty work on his part to let that car leave his shop with the break lights not working! I would never take another car there because of the poor quality of work and the greed of the owner Dave, who cares about making money and screwing people over rather than just being honest and doing quality work for the money that they are allotted through the insurance company.In closing, he stated to me that I just have to submit paperwork to my insurance company to retrieve my 150 dollars back. The insurance company laughed at me and said he straight lied to you, and NO OTHER AUTO BODY SHOP ON THE BORTH SHORE CHARGES ANY ADDITIONAL FEE.

They overplayed…read moretheir hand with the insurance company by inflating the estimated repairs to a level where the insurance company had no choice but to total my vehicle--and I had been found 100% not responsible so I should have gotten my car back in beautiful condition at literally zero cost to me. Instead, after it had already been at the shop for a week and a half, I was notified in an email that my vehicle was now considered to be a total loss, and I walked away with nothing but a measly, questionably valued check.... Have since heard that this exact situation is not an uncommon outcome here and has happened to others..... I'd have to say that the office manager Donna--who was absolutely great to deal with in the beginning--she became particularly tough & unpleasant to deal with once the car was totaled and the job fell apart. She openly seems to thrive on & genuinely enjoy confrontation & being aggressive and hard-edged. I've only heard good things about the quality of any actual repair work done on cars, and I was counting on & just assuming I would also become one of those very happy & satisfied customers who leave with a beautifully repaired vehicle, but my experience left me without my trusty truck which I could have, would have, and should have used for several more years to come, and I just never realized in a million years that this outcome was even an actual possibility when I put thought & even sought advice into where I should bring it to originally.....I'm just incredibly disappointed how things were (mis)handled under their watch. Just one local man's opinion. P.S. Although they wanted basically $12,000+ from the insurance company to do "all" the required repairs, interestingly once it was totaled I was offered to have it very nicely fixed up for only around $6,000, although at that reduced figure I would not be getting every single thing repaired exactly the same as the $12k would have gotten me, apparently.

These guys are unbelievable! I don't write a lot of reviews but felt I needed to give back because not only did they meet my expectations, they exceeded them! My past experiences with auto repair/service shops throughout my 56 years has been terrible. I expected the same; unkept promises, rip-offs, incompetence, lies, etc. However, that is NOT J&A Auto Body. Let me explain: I had a car accident in Georgia and the insurance company and their "preferred" repair shop in GA wanted my car to be a total loss. When I brought my car up here, repair shops took forever just to look at my car. Was it repairable, was it totaled? Who knew? So, I checked out Yelp and read the great reviews for J&A. I was skeptical and didn't really believe my luck would change but at this point what did I have to lose. Below is my summery: 1) They never over-promissed but they over-delivered 2) Eric felt like an older brother looking after my best interested with my very difficult insurance agency. I have no idea how much of his time he spent back and forth with them to ensure my insurance company stepped up so my car could be repaired in a timely manner. 3) Eric kept me posted every step of the way and was honest about where everything was in the process. 4) Eric was so incredible knowledgeable - seriously! Wow! 5) My car came out soooooo gorgeous! Everyone thinks it looks better than it did when I purchased it. No one would ever know it was in an accident. I will use them again and again whenever I need anything done. I only wish they worked on houses ;-) I keep telling everyone. My only fear is they'll be so busy they won't have time for me. Again, I LOVE these guys! They have restored my faith in humanity. OK, that sounds a bit much but it's true.

They quoted me a price and described in detail exactly what they'd be doing. They take off all of the seals and stuff on the car so that the paint job will last, so it's a little more expensive than other places, but I decided to save up for this better quality work and just do it. I'm *so so so* happy!! My car looks better than the day I bought it on those panels. The paint color perfectly matches the rest of the car. They even detailed the inside for free and touched up other spots on the car. They were super nice and very responsive through the whole process. If you're thinking of going somewhere else to save some money, don't. These guys are awesome.
