So after using the Big Blue Bug for 3 years and I am still having the same issue I called to cancelled.They put me through to a supervisor and she asks is there any issue. I said yes ...you have been coming for 3 years and I still have the problem and they keep telling me it's my fault. I have two dehumidifiers running in my basement which is air conditioned and heated. Then instead of trying to work with me or anything ...she says ok I'll cancel the contract. So after giving them nearly $1000.00 and I'm no better off then when I first called them that's all I get. So I'd say stay away and call someone else. read more

They were extremely professional and courteous despite being sprayed with my sprinkler system which I had felt so badly about. I've used Big Blue Bug a few times in the past few years since buying my home, and I wind up thinking that they're a solid option for the area, although not without their flaws. They do respond quickly to inquiries and can usually arrange for someone to help with whatever your problem is within a timely manner. My first issue was with mice, and they were helpful with establishing traps while also realistic about my chances of success at keeping them out of an old house. My second issue was with my crawlspace, and it was there that I was disappointed - workers came to clean the space in what was supposed to take several hours, and left within 20 minutes. When an electrician went down the next day to do some much needed work, there were droppings everywhere. After protesting to Big Blue Bug, I did get a partial refund and someone came out to fix the job, but it was a disappointing development. I wind up thinking I would still use them for projects, especially as other options in the area are limited, but I would probably be a little more exacting in my expectations, and clear about what will be done. read more

These people were hired to take care of a rat problem a few years back, and they were terrible. We got a different person each week, and many times they didn't even show up and we would have to call them to remind them. One time this happened, they sent out a guy after our call, and he got out of his truck with a bug sprayer, all ready to spray our foundation for bugs. When I asked him what he was going to do, he said spray. I asked for what? He said bugs? Then I told him that we had a rat problem not bugs, and he was supposed to be checking bait stations and putting down more bait. So if I hadn't been home, either they would have billed me and not showed up at all, or billed me for bug spraying. We got rid of them. These people are very non professional and I would not have them back if the service was free. read more

While researching a bug I saw a few times in my house I stumbled across Tony's email so I sent an email asking about the pest problem (honestly, not expecting a response). The next morning I received a phone call from Tony explaining what the bug is and how to get ride of it... the best part, I don't live in the area they service so he obviously wasn't trying to sell to me, he just truly cares about people and helping them out. We've used them once, and it was a very good experience. Mind you, our problem was pretty minor (ants). They didn't take long to schedule an appointment. Their technician, Aaron, showed up right on time (even a bit early -- helped that we were early in the AM). He was understated, which was fine, because we could go about our work while he did his -- we didn't have to stand around chatting. He left the place neat (didn't drag in a bunch of dirt on his shoes, etc.). He put in place treatments that did their job. The most important thing was that he explained what we should expect. This was important because the ants didn't behave quite as we would have expected, but because he'd carefully walked us through the process, we didn't worry (and call them unnecessarily). Eventually, the problem subsided in just the way we had described. That made Aaron's handling really professional and one that some other technicians might overlook. Their advertising is goofy, but you've got to admit it works: they're the first exterminator that comes to mind around here. I was concerned that a company that prominent might be shoddy on their job, and I was pleased that their technician seemed to care about doing his job well. Admittedly, our 5* doesn't mean that much given that our issue was minor -- any shop should have been able to handle it competently. Still, they did, which is what counts. read more

"wow, this one of the worst houses I've ever seen," said the technician who looked at the first home my husband I bought in which we realized did have a pest problem. Not something we really wanted to hear, but BBB has been easy to reach, nice to talk to and helpful. It was even easy to get them to come out the second time (which was no cost under our contract) when we still saw some critters after the first treatment. Overall, great experience! Our cost was about $1000 for a 3-story, multi-unit home that had some major pest issues (german cockroaches, mice and rats). Disgusting, I know, but we are good now!! read more

I live in the Edgewood section of Cranston. When we first purchased our house, there was evidence of termites. The Big Blue Bug have a competitive quote to take care of the issue, and with their reputation, I didn't want to go anywhere else! Nathan from the Big Blue Bug came out to inspect our house from bats. He was quite thorough and was the only bat inspector that asked to come inside and look in the attic. (Which he climbed into and conducted a complete inspection).All of the other bat inspectors searched our three story Victorian for bats from the ground. You can argue that this isn't a fair review because I've never been a customer of Big Blue Bug. However, I needed to share my experience when my neighbors received a tick and mosquito spray on their lawn. We didn't realize they were getting a treatment until it was too late. The noxious fumes from the spray entered through our open windows and literally made us ill to the point that we had to evacuate and go to a relative's house. The man spraying the lawn with a powerful sprayer was wearing a mask and my neighbors later told us that they were instructed to close their windows. Why should innocent neighbors be exposed to these toxic chemicals without warning? When I was pregnant my doctor told me to avoid pesticides and fertilizers, which can harm an unborn child and cause cancer. Come on Big Blue Bug. You are totally irresponsible. read more

We signed up for the annual plan and have been very happy! They even told me I can call anytime and they'll come kill a spider if that's what I need! We have them come quarterly to spray our yard and house. We have had no issues with ants (reason we started) or any other pest since they started. Will Manseau is our technician and he's very friendly and thorough. They even call ahead to make sure the date and time work for you every time they come. We will definitely be continuing our plan. Greg #79 came to my residence to treat for carpenter ants. Not only did he do a fantastic job, he asked me where I saw the most pest traffic and custom tailored the treatment by adding special a dust to the garage area. He did an excellent job telling me how the treatment worked and even treated a nearby hornet's nest that I was unaware of. I'm glad I have the warranty with these guys because they do an excellent job! Super professional and knowledgeable, always happy to answer my questions. Technician 30 (Licker) discovered squirrels in our attic about a month ago. He was great--very knowledgeable, sympathetic, and helpful. (Also discovered a dead bat in the basement). Since then, various technicians have come 3x per week to set traps, monitor activity, and remove squirrels. Each technician is amazing. They climb a tall exterior ladder up 2 1/2 stories, they deal with the problem, and they are very personable. Technicians include Mr. Licker (#30), Mr. Saucier (41), Brown (86), and Rich (77). Most have come more than 3 times. In addition to the M W F scheduled visits, Joshua Brown #86 came today after I called to say I heard the trap close. He came quickly, and he was very professional. A fantastic guy came out to treat a big yellow jacket infestation. I was surprised that it was so much money for less than two minutes, but pleased with the results. The tech was really nice and knowledgeable. Bugs were gone after two days...but a week later they are back about four feet away from the treatment area. We have to pay again for treatment. I was hoping there'd be some sort of discount for the same bugs. Just beware, they might remove a nest but they can't/won't/or don't actually get rid of the bugs (I guess unless you fork out the $200 each week). read more

I hated everything about this company. From the very first phone call, I should have known to go to someone else for my pest control needs. The receptionist, was rude, short, and not helpful at all. It seemed that all she wanted to do was get me off the phone. The price was through the roof. The customer service was HORRENDOUS. After the treatment, the bugs were back so they did not do a thorough job there. The communication was awful. Because I was renting a floor from a home owner, they did not feel the need to communicate with me at all. I called to ask what was going on and I kept getting the run-around. The inspector was nice, but he didn't get his reports in when he said he would. All around terrible experience. GO ELSEWHERE. read more
