Rough experience start to finish. Poor communication. Lack of cleanliness. Broken amenities. I don't enjoy leaving comments that could potentially hurt someone's business but the issues kept piling up and the lack of care shown by management has to be communicated to others thinking about booking with this company. First, please know that check-in must be done at a separate office/location so plan for a pit stop on your way to your cabin. The first thing we noticed was a large piece of trash in the front yard. A big, wet cardboard box. Very obvious. Then we saw numerous piles of dog feces that had not been cleaned up in the backyard. One of them was right next to the hot tub. So many piles that it couldn't be anything but complete ignorance from the management. We then noticed that both the shower and the bathtub upstairs was out of order. The shower had a broken pipe covered with duct tape. The faucet that controls the plug in the bathtub was also broken so water would not hold in the tub essentially making it useless. That left one shower for the entire cabin that was actually somewhat functional. I say somewhat because you need body armor to protect yourself from the water pressure launching out of the shower head. Still, we were going to ignore it all and choose to have a good time. We weren't going to let it ruin our trip. Then the morning of check-out came. We receive a knock on our door at 11am saying that check-out was 10am. However, we asked for a late check-out before we stayed for the weekend. The custodial staff that was there said they contacted the office and the office claimed that was never promised. Another frustration but miscommunication happens. We gather our things and leave. After we left management continued to text my friend that booked the cabin saying that she was wrong about the late checkout. We already left and tried to put this experience behind us. Why would you continue to harass someone? Baffled really. Lack of attention to detail. Complete absence of communication for the broken showers. Blatant ignorance of cleanliness with the backyard. Unprofessional interactions with guests. Please look elsewhere when selecting a cabin. read more

We stayed at 100 - Cedar Hideaway from 2/16 - 2/20/2024. There are mixed feelings about our stay I want to share in a Pro and Con format. CONS: The internet was not working when we first arrived. The Wifi and code we received from the office was different then what was written throughout the cabin so it was a pain to figure out which one to use. Didn't matter, neither of them worked. I ended up fixing it myself because they weren't going to send anyone else out until the following day or later. The reply was "When the service tech is available." The service tech came 3 days later. It was our last day before we left in the morning. The kitchen light flickered continuously throughout our stay. It was pretty annoying by the end of the first night. The hot tub provided was said to be ready to go when we got there but the first night it was lukewarm at best which wasn't fun after a day on the slopes. The fire place had a gas line to provide continuous flame while the wood caught fire, however there was no wrench to turn the gas on so the wood died continuously while trying to "catch" on. There were 7 of us staying at this cabin and 3 trash bags were waiting for us to use that were located under the sink. I went back to the office to get another 4 bags after the second day. There was a dishwasher in the cabin which was a nice luxury but I had to use it the first day as a drying rack because there was no dishwasher soap provided. I grabbed some when I went for the trash bags. PROS: The space was more than enough for 7 people. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was centrally heated. There were three entrances which was highly convenient. The kitchen had plenty of dinner wear, glass wear, and silver wear. You could cook, crockpot, baked, etc with all they supplied. I called the office prior to coming out and asked if they had condiments or seasonings for the cabin and they said there were none. However there were two cabinets that had those items from previous guests which was kinda nice, except for the expired items. Merideth lodging was super easy to talk with as they were a 24/7 operation but they couldn't do much other than let me know they would put a work order in for the items I needed fixed. Their IT guy came out the next day about the internet but like I said before, I took care of it anyway so not needed. The cabin is conveniently located 1.4 mile away from Big Bear Mountain and 1.0 miles away from Ski Summit. I hope this gives you an understanding of our stay. I can't say I wouldn't stay with Merideth Lodging again but I can say I do understand the 2.5 Star rating. Good luck. read more

We stayed at 007 - The Log Cabin Getaway. When we arrived early to check-in we were told that housekeeping had not yet visited the house and they would call us when the property was ready. No more than an hour later we received a call saying the house was ready for check-in. When we arrived we could tell the house was not very clean...how could it be with such a short window to clean it. When we went outside to check out the hot tub, one of the main reasons we chose the cabin, it was disgusting and unusable. We contacted the property managers right away and were told they would send someone out to address it right away. No one ever showed up and weeks later we were told that the technician indeed came before and during our stay and fixed the issue (they did not as you can see from the photos) but for our troubles they would offer us a credit of $19 for the hot tub fee. We decided to vacate the premises. This home will not pass any safety, or cleanliness requirement laws passed by the state of CA. This is a Slum, Ran by a Slum Lord (Big Bear Getaway) looking to capitalize on unsuspecting guests of what looks like a nice property. The negative reviews are consistent for a reason. Our families experience with this vacation rental as well as trying to work with Big Bear Getaways was absolutely the worse travel experience to date. Upon arriving at the property there were a number of noticeable issues, dirty dishes still in the dishwasher, kitchen cabinets that were very disorganized and under stocked. Our main issue came a day after checking in. One of our family members occasionally gets seasonal allergies but after being in this home for 24 hours the allergies from the dust and dirty home were unbearable forcing us to leave a day early. We had attempted to call the office numerous times leaving messages with Meredith Lodging, with no return phone call. It has now been 3 months trying to recoup the money from the one night we had to leave early and this company will not take responsibility for the condition this home was rented. Despite pictures of the dust, dirt and general uncleanliness they continue to use the excuse of "contractual agreements" and that this house was a pet friendly home. The most they agreed to do was return our cleaning fee acknowledging that the house was not clean, however the "check was in the mail" 3 weeks ago and has still not been received. This may not deter the next person/family from renting but this is a honest review. We have been renting the fox manor 11 for the last 5 years. The house is beautiful, the amenities horrible.. This year we had NO heat our first day/night, after multiple maintenance men coming they were unable to fix, 3 of the 4 small space heaters did not work. The gas hardly work we could barley cook! Idk why their is a cleaning fee when we arrived a dirty pamper at the front empty beer can in the drive way! Idk what is going on here!!! It's not like this place is cheap! They are the worst. I booked a stay in Big Bear through Vrbo, and Big Bear getaway was the property manager. Prior to the trip, I went to the Vrbo website and noticed the property was no longer listed. Odd, I had never seen that and could not get in touch with the property manager through Vrbo. I had to find a way to get in touch with big bear getaway directly. They mentioned the place was still reserved, and that I would have to make payments to them directly. No issues there. Then a few days prior to my stay, big bear getaway called me and said that there were plumbing issues with the home. They offered another property that wasnt listed, and mentioned to look at pictures on Redfin. This was a much worse home, and they tried to offer it to me at the same cost! When I mentioned that I wouldn't pay the same amount for a worse home, they would not even offer a discount. I opted for a refund, and changed plans. Weeks later, I have NOT received my full refund. They're telling me that Vrbo should refund me their margin, although when I asked if there was any action needed they said there was not and that it would be taken care of. After waiting we were told our cabin was not ready and it was still being cleaned. This location of the office is not by our cabin. We had a check in at 4pm and didn't get a key until 5:08pm. I rented a six bedroom cabin through VRBO, which required payment in two installments. The first payment was made through VRBO on booking with the second payment due 1 month prior to check-in. About 2 months prior to check-in I receive emails at the email address registered with my VRBO account telling me that my payment is late. I reply and inquire about the payment schedule and was informed that my second installment would need to be paid directly, rather than through VRBO. Odd, but this was an important trip so I rolled with it and paid through their private portal. Check-in date rolls around and the check-in procedures have changed as well. Instead of being met at the cabin, I would have to stop by rental office to pick up the key. I stop by late morning and they tell me that the cabin isn't ready yet. Another odd moment because the listing that I booked indicated that they space out reservations by 24 hours due to COVID. Apparently that was a lie. However, again, the family was in Big Bear so it wasn't like I could just cancel on the spot. Check-in time is 4:00PM, so when I don't receive a call from them letting me know the key is ready to pick up, I drop by again at 4:00PM and then stand around because they do not know where the keys are. 30 minutes later, they "find" the keys and turn them over to me. Arriving at the cabin is when things really started going downhill. I open up the cabin and the floor is still wet from mopping fluid. It's obvious the cleaners had just been there and that is why they couldn't "find" the keys. As family is coming in and taking luggage to the various rooms I step into the powder room to take a leak. Staring me in the face is a full fledged turd with the water 3/4 up the bowl, indicating that the toilet is clogged. Rather than subject my family to that, I plunge the toilet and flush the turd. This would prove to be my undoing later. The cabin came with a hot tub. That night when testing it out we find that the water heater does not function. It has lights and jets, but no heat. I call Big Bear Getaway the next morning to send a tech and they tell me they'll send someone. No contact after that. Nothing, zilch, not a call, not a knock. I call them back hours later and they tell me their tech is stuck in traffic. More hours go by and when I try to call their contact number again, no one picks up. Later that day, as we are all sitting in the main room, one of the kids pulls out a used Starbucks cup from under one of the side tables. Obviously the cleaners weren't all that thorough. I am not even going to go into detail about all of the light bulbs that were out or the nasty wad of hair that was sitting in the master bedroom shower. It was like someone had pulled the hair out of the drain but just left it there instead of throwing it away. SoOoOo... after all this I get in contact with Big Bear Getaway to talk about all these issues. It takes them a week to get back to me and even then, it's to say that they will look into it and will get back to me in a day or at the end of the day. I have to follow up with them multiple times. It took them four weeks to get back to me with an answer. Long story short, they basically called me a liar since I did not provide them with photos of the turd. They seriously wanted me to either take photos of a poo in a clogged toilet or call them to have a cleaner come out and fix it. They also tell me that a tech came in through the back of the property and serviced the hot tub and that they were not going to reimburse me for any part of that. That's fine, because it was never about the money, it was about them taking responsibility for their shortcomings. Some of you are going to read this review and think, well, they can't be that bad. The only way to describe the lake front house is sad and nasty. This place is a crap hole. I am talking about house #036 Eye of the Eagle. The room my husband and I stayed in had mold on the walls and water spots on the ceiling, that's a new romantic aromatherapy scent I was not used to...NOT! I had a headache from the day I walked in this place that magically left once we left this dump. For the amount of money we paid a night for this place, you would think they could afford a couple upgrades or maybe even a cleaner, but unfortunately that is not the case. This house hasn't been touched since the day they received the Cert of occupancy from the city. We had booked this place for 4 nights and lasted 1 before throwing in the towel and leaving. There were grasshoppers in the bathroom when I was showering, creepy next door neighbors who are outside watching you with binoculars, and the deck literally feels like it will combust beneath your feet. I get it, you stay here and think you are lake front, so you can deal with it and make this place work. I am here to tell you, you can't. Sorry. Save yourself the headache and the future health issues and book elsewhere. There are plenty of other places, I would suggest a tent next to a dumpster before I would recommend this crap hole. Our party was still arriving at the home throughout the morning and afternoon of 7/2/21 when we spoke with multiple members of your staff and it was at that time, due both to the unacceptable state of the property and the frankly disrespectful customer service agents that we made the decision to leave the home. UNACCAPTABLE. I HOPE A FAMILY DODGES A BULLET WITH THIS. Big Bear Getaway or whatever property management company owns "the lucky 7's" property should be ashamed. Our family rented a cabin after the Christmas break and let me just say, for $1,200 per night this was completely unacceptable. I'm talking the bare basics such as hiring a cleaning service to clean the bathrooms, wash linens, re-stock the kitchen with the essentials. Day 1, we check in and the first thing I noticed were urine stains on the toilet - strike 1 I let that slide. I then noticed all of the bedsheets we set up for our kids smelled disgusting and were dusty as if they had been sitting there for weeks. So we then spent the first hour putting the sheets in the washing machine and the dryer; what a way to start a vacation right? That's strike 2. Then I go up the loft at the very top of the cabin, which we originally intended to be the playroom for our kids, and one of the rails going up was loose to the point where you apply any small amount of pressure, you can slide it right off and the gap would have been big enough for one of our toddlers to go through, to me that was strike 3 when the safety of my children was put at risk. At this point anything I mention after this is comical because all we could say to ourselves was "of course". No trash bags were provided and forks were not enough to go around even though the house is advertised to house 8-12 people; we only had 4 forks. "fully equipped kitchen" is what is advertised, yeah if you like a fully stocked seasoning drawer with everything expired back in 2018. I understand it may be difficult to own an investment property rental, but I'm not even complaining about the outdated/creepy pictures hung all over the place, I'm just upset that not even the bare minimum was done. Pay a cleaning service $300 to just to the basics - a small price to pay out of the $5,000 you've pocketed on our stay. Either this property management company/property owner is greedy or to put simply mismanaged. I hope a family is reading this and dodges the bullet that we had to swallow without any credit or partial refund extended. read more

Less than 12 hours after our arrival, and after numerous phone calls to property management to remedy the situation, we were driven out of there by these filthy varments and a property management team that was unresponsive, uncaring, & unprofessional. The property manager ultimately sent two ladies over to change the bedding and vacuum the carpet. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU RECTIFY A BED BUG INFESTATION!!! To add further insult, the property manager told us they did not have enough bedding and pillows to replace what was already there infested with bedbugs. Even if they had properly resolved the bedbug situation, which they acted as if they had NO CLUE how to do, they claimed they did not have enough replacement bedding, nor a comparable property to move us to. OUTRAGEOUS!!! They should have vendors and resources available to effectively deal with such issues; yes, even on a holiday weekend. We ultimately decided to cancel the reservation with a full refund. Big Bear Getaway offered nothing and did nothing to show any type of appreciation for our business, to try to retain our business, to compensate us for time and gas lost during our 2.5 hour drive to and from Big Bear (each way). Instead, they treated us like WE were the problem, NOT THEM AND THEIR BEDBUG INFESTED PROPERTY!!! Our request to speak with the owner was not honored. Is this a $1000/night rental or a FORECLOSED home someone posted online as a cruel joke??? We stayed at #036 Cabin - Eye of the Eagle. NOT A CHILD (human) FRIENDLY RENTAL! (Please see my attached photos before even thinking of renting this cabin..) The smell of mold hits you in the face the second you walk through the door. Then you look up and see some of the worst black mold you have seen all throughout the house. Instantly gave me a migraine. So much so that I had to step outside. How is this place legal to rent? Outlets throughout the home are broken with exposed wires are far from up to code. If a child is in this home without constant supervision, there are some serious dangers. I felt like a bad husband expecting my wife to sleep on a bed that "poofed dust" when she sat on it. We made the decision to cancel our stay but we were not refunded by the company. Every flaw of this place was only highlighted by the cheap and dangerous "fix" completed by the owner or whoever is managing this rental. NO ONE should be allowed to stay at #036 Cabin - Eye of the Eagle until it is inspected by the city and some serious renovations are made. This is the agency to use if you want to arrive at a cabin that hasn't been cleaned at all with dirty towels and sheets, and for the agency to be completely unresponsive. the cleaners arrived at 6pm, two hours after we were supposed to be in, when we returned the dirty linens were in the washer and wet towels were in the broken dryer. Dirty dishes were loaded in the dishwasher. Beds were all unmade, and unit wasn't vaccumed. When we contacted the agency there was no response. Nor has there been any satisfactory response to this point days later. Currently disputing the charge for this uninhabitable stay. I'd give them 0 stars if that was an option. Being a business owner myself, stuff happens and ppl resort to the internet to bash ppl way too quickly. But my experience with this company was so horrific it deserves a review. What a horrible experience. We booked a weekend in Big Bear over October Fest. House number 020- Summit House. We got there and everything looked good. Then we realized there was no hot water. We were only going to stay there for 2 nights so we thought, what the heck- we can deal with no hot water. It's the mountains. We will rough it! Then the tankless water heater started flooding. I was on the phone 10 times going back and forth with property management to get a maintenance guy out there. The tankless water heater was in the garage but started flooding the downstairs bedroom where my luggage was getting everything wet. When they finally came, they said they had to turn off the water and we could go to another rental. We then were moved to house -023 and the water was not turned on. It was 9 pm at night and the whole weekend was spent on the phone dealing with these issues. Life happens but they didn't even offer a refund. I was told that a Kylie or Krystie would call me back. I had to call every day for two weeks until someone finally addressed it and after all that, was told I wouldn't get a refund. I booked with them a few years back and the place was filthy and even had pubic hairs in the bathroom. They offered me a refund for that but I should have learned my lesson. Don't book with them. We have been using Big Bear Getaway for over 10 years to book an annual family trip. Krista was awesome, the office had lost power before we arrived to check in but she was there ready with our keys. We booked a great cabin in Fawnskin unfortunately due to weather we lost power shortly after check-in. We came prepared with emergency lights and supplies for the night and next day. We had no power for about 26 hours, Krista checked on us and even gave us 3 bundles of fire wood. We had a fantastic time. Big Bear getaway is great. read more

They will do such a bad job managing your property that all your Airbnb reviews will be terrible, tanking your rating and ability to make money. Guests will complain about the filth, service and lack of responsiveness. When you go to your own cabin, you too will be disgusted by the condition - green hot tub, dishes in the sink, dirty shoes and underpants lying around. We rented a cabin through Airbnb from this location in big bear and the moment we walked in we saw a mouse inside the house, and after we talked to the owner of the "Big bear getaway" the owner was super rude and he was acting that having a mouse inside the house is super normal and he didn't even apologize . we rented that place for almost $400 per night with taxes and fees . he was going to send us to lodge with low rating and only $83 per night. we drove for 3 hours to get there and we already bought all our supplies and he didn't even help us. read more

The cabin we stayed in 061 - Boulder Bay Retreat 39046 Robin Rd. was a bit dirty. First off, we had to check in and was told the cabin was ready. Walk in to unmade beds, towels on floor, no toilet paper, refrigerator / stove filthy. I was absolutely disgusted. Called the main check in office, they apologized and said they would send housekeeping over (saying they were not sure what happened). They did a half ass job, I ended up scrubbing the stove, drawers, and refrigerator as they had dried on food particles and crumbs. I don't like dirty kitchens to cook so of course I had to clean it to my standards. Rooms were OK, fireplace didn't burn the wood well and ended up smoking up the room so we had to open windows. We used BBG as our property manager for our 4BR cabin in Big Bear Lake. I regularly interacted with BBG's team- the front office, maintenance and when we set up the agreement, the owner. In contrast, we had previously used a different company that starts with "Big Bear... and we were just a number- they provided 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom, no paper towels, no kitchen towels and had the least professional cleaners. Our security camera caught a maintenance guy changing lightbulbs and throwing the old ones into the snow in our yard! Now, back to Big Bear Getaways- we have numerous stories of them bending over backwards for guests, calling us to see what they can do for a disabled vet who wanted to stay at our property, etc. We sold the cabin and just today received a Fitbit in the mail that my son lost 3 months ago! We don't even own the house anymore, but it must have been hidden in one of the locked owner closets. That is great customer service. I fully recommended BBG for your rental and property management needs. Negatives? They had to deal with partners breaking stuff, putting holes in the wall, somebody's kid clogging the toilet then flushing it until water came through the ceiling below. I'd say if you rent through them and are a responsible renter there should be no complaints. If there are, they will fix it quickly. read more

Now this is how you experience real glamping. Talk about unplugging and getting away from the world/city life. The best place to do just that and reminisce everything about the beauty of nature and the real meaning of what nature and life is. I was a bit worried about being alone amongst strangers, but people kept to themselves. We were far apart from all the neighboring cabins that you literally didn't even know people were there but you, yourself and birds. It was peaceful, everything you needed was in that cute cabin. Running hot water, a comfortable clean bed, desk, electricity, A/C, heater, stand-up shower, indoor plumping, all the amenities they provided for you, a mini kitchen with two burners, a mini fridge, an outdoor propane grill, picnic bench and chairs and most importantly that view that's worth a million bucks. Less than 2 miles away you're nearby amazing hiking trails and the cutest town with small gift shops and a local grocery store. This place was literally in my backyard (1.5 hour drive) but where has it been all my life. We loved it so much that we have our next getaway booked for May 2020 and this time we have plans to stay longer. Take it from me, it was AMAZING! read more

LIARS- terrible customer service . Booked a cabin through air bnb for a 1 night stay in December. 8 days before our trip I get an email from this company claiming "emergency cancellation- so sorry to Inform you that your reservation has been cancelled. I call and speak to Krista at big bear getaway and she claims the cancellation is due to a "a broken pipe" that will not be fixed in time for our reservation. She claims to refund us in full for the money we have already spent for this cabin- then says there's nothing else she can do. I start frantically searching air bnb for a new place to stay when our cancelled cabin pops up - open for availability the weekend we previously were forced to cancel! LIARS. No broken pipe, no "emergency " , they probably just wanted to book it for a 2 night minimum instead of 1. Absolutely outrageous. So here we sit, no place to stay, do not rent through air bnb or this site directly.... Side note- they sent an email manipulating me to be the one to cancel the reservation - that way it appears to air bnb that I am the one who canceled- no fault to them. I have spoken to air bnb customer support and they have informed me that the host will be penalized and charged a fee. read more

After I showed up to check in at a separate location they gave me directions to the cabin which was located in a residential  or ,"locals area." Off the rip the neighbors were stopping stating how annoyed they were where the place was being vacation rented.  Within one hour a man claiming to be the owner showed up intoxicated yelling and making a scene because my elderly father brought his camper (due to the cabin being pet friendly and him having pet allergies) There was a very long driveway with plenty of room for it. I let the drunken owner know that I understood his concerns and any issues could have been addressed via phone with a,, "Hey can you move that",  I believe the owner was drunk and coming from his regular  bar down the street .I advised him we were allotted 2-3 vehicles which we only had that exact amount . We had under the number of people allowed  even with my elderly father's little camper present.. I was the youngest adult there at 37.   The drunk man who claimed to be the owner of the rental co that advertises on VRBO than stated the cabin was not pet friendly which is states in the add that it was.(you can see yourself on VRBO based off the info below) I also had told the lady when I checked in that I had pets.  She seemed friendly which I imagine she has to be to deal with a boss with an anger problem and  she started again pets are no problem .(If your the lady that works for him and you read this and need a character witness for workplace harassment let me know).   I tried to reason with the intoxicated owner that is was my 12 year olds birthday and we are having a family only get together due to COVID , but he was very drunk and aggressive to the point the neighbor had to tell him not to yell at women and to. , "Send someone sober" next time . During this time the owner was standing so close yelling I could feel his saliva on my face (during a COVID pandemic), his eyes were bloodshot and his body swayed while he yelled, clenching his fist the entire time.  To give you guys a better picture I am 5'4 128lbs female and  I told him multiple times," I am not arguing with you , What do you need me to do?"     I than told the owner that I would be leaving because I did not feel safe there and to please not block my path to exit.  The owner brought another man in a separate vehicle who parked down the road and glared at me during the entire episode. I'm not sure if this was his designated driver or his hired hand to intimidate people. As soon as I said this he started screaming , "Leave, You're evicted"!!! , "Leave ".  I can provide several statements from all the people present who's ages range from 50-78 that will confirm this incident.( what a party animal age group of elderly !) I had to leave within an hour of being there due to the circumstances/vacancies I had to  find two hotels in two separate locations for my elderly family members on short notice . The entire time this drunken man and his male friend in another vehicle waited outside in order to intimidate me , my minor children and elderly parents and grandparents. The very next day the cabin was rented out with people in it even though I had paid for those days. So he got double paid for as well . I did not violate any agreement and told them not to charge my card for the stay due to me not being able to( which VRBO did and gladly paid him!!) This drunken owner was screaming the entire time .. He really should have been arrested but my parents and grandparents where so upset  and my son was crying ,I just wanted to get them out of there .. . The property is listed below ... Well honestly i have zero idea where these bad reviews are coming from! From the days leading up to my trip when they patiently and kindly fielded my many calls worrying about the weather, to arriving at the office to a seamless simple check in process, to my absolutely STUNNING cabin that i am nestled in right now watching the amazingly competent snow guy remove the snow from the driveway so i can get the car out. Worst customer service ever. Don't believe the sh*t they put on their website because its all a load of bs. My college organization hosts an annual snowboarding trip and we decided to go with this company for our cabin. The website clearly said the minimum age to book a cabin is 21. Okay. No problem. Someone 21 books a cabin. A few days later our deposit is refunded without even a notice about why. WE call THEM asking what's up. "WE DON'T WANT A TON OF YOUNG PEOPLE MESSING UP OUR CABIN. WE'RE CANCELLING YOUR RESERVATION BECAUSE WE THINK YOU ARE IRRESPONSIBLE CHILDREN." Okay CHILL OUT what is the big deal? Why does your website even say 21+ if YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HONOR THAT?? This kind of age discrimination is absolutely ridiculous and completely unacceptable. I was outraged by their irresponsibility and the way they handled the situation and overall I felt very offended. We were glad to be taking our money elsewhere. There are so many other companies out there that are reasonable and DON'T FALSE ADVERTISE on their website. I wanted to chime in because we just had a really lovely weekend at a cabin managed by Big Bear Getaway. I read the other reviews here and was very concerned that our weekend could potentially go sideways. But once I spoke with Allison on the phone I felt completely different. She was kind, reassuring and generously made sure we got the best rate possible for our anniversary celebration. I was concerned that the hot tub and BBQ would have issues since reviews of the cabin reported hassels, dirty water and simply not working with little or no support to fix the issues. I tried to be proactive and make sure these were working so there'd be no time wasted dealing with repairs on a Saturday, making calls etc. Unfortunately these were not addressed as promised ahead of time, which is why I can not give 5 stars. However the communication was kind, that went a long way, and the issues were solved. I did have to make several phone calls and wait over 3 hours for the repairs. So how I can I possibly leave feeling so good about our experience? They were super accommodating in giving us a late checkout for our troubles. Customer service, empathy for our frustrations, (somewhat) timely repairs, doing things to make it right (late checkout) and just plain being nice customer service based people to deal with. Plus the cabin was PERFECT! Absolutely in love with the space, perfectly rustic, yet had all the comforts and cooking necessities, nice lighting. It was the escape we dreamed of and will absolutely be back and absolutely book with this company again! read more

#032 Lakefront Home Escape Rented both the home and apartment upstairs for 5 days for me and my family. Overall the layout, and amenities were up to par, everything worked except the box fan that came with the home was broken. No big deal since it wasn't that hot and the ceiling fans did the trick. Now the issues are the cleanliness, the outside deck, and stairs to the apartment above were completely filthy. Well its a "cabin" right? and its on the lake right? Sure, so maybe some dirt and some spider webs here and there would be overlooked. But the stairs were completely covered with webs, and the door to the apartment had a brown widow about the size of a silver dollar above it. Spiders outside? not a big deal, even if it was what seemed to be thousands of them all over the exterior entrance ways. But inside? Now here's the problem, when you walk into the home or apartment you are met with a nice looking living quarters, just dont look at the ceiling since they are completely covered with webs and spiders ranging from all different sizes and breeds. This is inside the bed rooms, living rooms, bathrooms, etc. basically the entire place was a spiders den. Fortunately no one was hurt in this filming of Arachnophobia but the simple fact is that whatever cleaning crew they hire, is not doing there job at all. They simply fold the linens, maybe vacuum, and wipe down a counter or two but completely ignore the spider infestation above. When we called to have this matter resolved, we were told to purchase spider spray or try to find it some where in the house. Probably wouldn't stay here again, or book with this company unless they can fix there cleaning issues. read more

We stayed at 42356 Paramount Road, cabin 002, called Pamper Yourself which was leased to us by Krista Reddington. This by far was the worst vacation for my family and our friends who stayed at this disgusting, filthy, cabin that had not been upgraded for 20 years. The carpets had black stains and smelled horrific, the sliding doors did not work, the cabin was not clean when we got there. The pots and pans were filthy, and the refrigerator was not working. We called and complained nothing was done for hours, $500 worth of food, birthday cake all spoiled went directly into the garbage. The couches had all kinds of disgusting stains nothing was cleaned in this cabin. Warning stay away from this rental property. They brought this huge ice chest box in the middle of the kitchen which was an inconvenience. The maintenance guys came out vacuumed the back of the fridge while we are eating breakfast and inhaling all the dust in the air. My husband called the office, Krista Reddington was supposed to take it up with management and call within 24hrs. She did not bother calling us back, sends an incompetent email, when we called her she was useless, she was doing everything to avoid compensating us for this disastrous cabin we paid for. Warning you will be fined 500 for playing music. Big Bear Getaway Management, you all are pathetic, shame on you and this useless manager you hired Krista Reddington. read more

This company is horrible. The rental house they gave us had a huge nest of large black ants right in the middle of the second story game room with trails of ants going off in seven different directions and the ants had white eggs in their mouths. Literally thousands of large black ants had infested this place! It was utterly disgusting! We all suffered multiple ant bites. When we told the rental office (Krista was the person in the office - she was utterly useless) we could not stay any longer and wanted another place, their response was we don't have any place else to put you so you're out of luck. We then stated, please refund our money because this place is uninhabitable. They refused to refund our money. After several ant bites and being traumatized by being in this nightmare, we left and had to pay for new lodging elsewhere. Don't use this company, they will give you a rental unit that is uninhabitable and you'll have to spend additional money for lodging somewhere else!! We are now in the process of filing a lawsuit against this crooked company. read more

We rented #003 lakefront rental this past week and I feel it is in the best interest of future renters of this unit or any unit this company services to give an honest review of our experience. Either you may go into it knowing what to expect or maybe find another option. First, I do want to say, the photos on of this house looked amazing online. The location was amazing , right on the lake and the view from the house was perfect. We just wish we would of felt that way of the condition of the house. It is unfortunate, because it has the potential to be an ideal home to rent. Unfortunately, it was filthy!! We wanted to rent it on July 6th but we're told that due to the Covid precautions they were taking, they were spacing rentals out a day apart if they could to do extra detailed cleaning from one renter to another. We appreciated hearing this, even though we had hoped to arrive a day earlier since we saw it was available. That certainly is not what we found to be true when we got there. We checked into the office and they said it was ready for us. When we arrived to the house, the cleaners were packing their car up. Our first impression was not good. They had a pile of rags in their car. We did not see many supplies packed in the car. As soon as we walked down the steps to the entry, we saw how messy and the first impression was not good. The entrance had trash around the door, busted water balloons all over (and the cleaners said they were done) the hose was unraveled and thrown to the side of the front door. There is turf and it was covered with old pines and shrubbery. This is simple stuff but not a good reflection of how the inside may be. Our instinct to what was to come was correct. The inside of the house was filthy!! For them claiming they needed an extra day to do deep cleaning for Covid was a joke. Counter tops were dirty, coffee maker was disgusting, windows did not look like they had been cleaned (on the inside) in forever, spider webs and nests everywhere, bathrooms were disgusting, extra blankets thrown on the disgusting carpet so we did not know if they were clean. There were stained pillows on the couches and it was disgusting under the couch cushions which we noticed because were were looking for the pullout coach. There were dirty sheets on the bed so we did not use pull out coach. The carpet was disgusting. It was stained and ripped through out the house. We brought this up immediately to the office. At first they pressed that they had done a good cleaning until I insisted to talk to a manager. The manager came by and agreed it should of been cleaned better so he got another wonderful lady come by and cleaned with her 13 year old daughter, eventually going to get her brother to help because it was so bad. They did a great job but got throw into a real mess because the other cleaners obviously did not clean. She even admitted how bad it was. The office said they did not have any other rental to offer us so we had to accept or leave. Between this other lady, her daughter, her brother, and our whole group, we got it cleaned up enough to have some comfort to being there. It was a real shame as we payed a lot of money to be there. After expressing our dissatisfaction, they eventually agreed to refund us the cleaning fee ($205) but would not budge to refund us anymore. We felt they mislead us by saying they were doing extra cleaning for the Covid and rented us a filthy place. I'm sure I have missed some but this is the best I can explain. I would not trust them when they say, they clean the houses and have them ready for the renters. BE AWARE of what you think you are getting!!! read more

This company is absolutely awful to rent from. I highly recommend future people not rent any properties associated with this company either directly or via short term rental websites like VRBO and AirBnB. We rented what looked like a nice home online to find out it was a complete mess upon arrival. Things we experienced included: 1. There were no additional kitchen trash bags to be found in the property (we had to go out and buy more) 2. The cleaning service clearly had not been in the property prior to our arrival as upon entry there were blankets and pillows strewn about the couches as if someone had been sleeping in there and didn't put them away 3. There was long black hair on the pillows in two of the bedrooms 4. Hair on the bathroom floor mats in the master and single bathroom/ non-shower on the main floor 5. Dirty laundry/ linens were laying all over the floor in the laundry room (comforters, blankets, sheets, bath towels) 6. One beds pillows had stains all over them 7. One of the toilets had urine stains in it 8. Master bathtub was not clean, showing dirt, water and soap stains in it 9. We arrived to find no clean bath towels or linens in the house, as a result we had to re-wash and fold all the linens and bathroom towels the 1st night we were there (took us close to 3 hours to do all of it) 10. Multiple overhead ceiling lights we inoperable 11. The 'hot' knob associated with the master bath shower was broken and laying in pieces on the floor bench in the shower, as a result this rendered the shower completely useless as hot water can't be turned on which also means we only had one shower to use now in the entire rental 12. The trash compactor in the kitchen has a broken front panel that had been carelessly taped together and was falling off 13. Their check-in process to access their properties is a nightmare 14. dishes were dirty all over the place While some of this may seem insignificant I would tell you when you're renting a home for over $1000 a night you would expect these things to be buttoned up and taken care of. On multiple occasions we talked with Big Bear Getaway as well as representatives at VRBO. Both sides claimed they would help out, of which nothing was ever done. This experience was an absolute disgrace. BE VERY CAUTIOUS working with this property management company and it's employees. They'll tell you what you want to hear then never follow up. read more

I personally don't post many reviews but feel compelled to inform people about this vacation rental company in case you have expectations of staying at a nice, well taken care of, clean cabin. To be fair, let me begin with the PROS: the location of the cabin was ideal. It was close to everything in town and in a quiet, culdesac neighborhood. The home was also a nice size for a big family get-together, with plenty of space for parking. Now to the CONS: We stayed in cabin #68 "White bear lodge." When we arrived, we noticed the place was unclean (dust everywhere including areas that were black from accumulated dust/dirt left unwiped for months, cobwebs, sticky surface tops). Pictures below. I'm concerned that they are not abiding by COVID-19 precautions. They sent a cleaning crew the next day and we addressed the cleanliness concerns to the crew and their response was "the owners of the cabin have to pay for a deep cleaning fee." Im not sure how true that is but it explains why there are stains and accumulated dirt/dust all throughout the house. Parts of the home were also falling apart such as the plywood coming Off the walls, duck-tape holding wooden staircase together, ripped cushions and stains on multiple couches, linens had strands of hair in them. The fridge was broken, fans are broken and do not work, it was 83 degrees in the home when we arrived. They sent 3 maintenance men to work on the fridge (which they were here until after 9pm) and the maintenance man mentioned the back of the fridge had been clogged, not well kept, preventing the fridge from cooling because of lint/dust buildup. Decks were dust filled, couldnt Even walk on them. It was difficult to get a hold of management (we arrived on Saturday and front desk said management wasn't available until Monday, then later said a manager was coming in on Sunday) and once we finally did, they admitted to being aware of the condition of the home, didnt try to defend the issues we mentioned and yet still rent this place out and are very misleading on the website about it (they only post the good reviews on their website, but look on yelp & google where you will find more accurate reviews). Management said the best they can do is refund the cleaning fee. This is Poor Customer service for a company to mislead consumers into renting this home for over $600 Per night, knowing the condition it is in. They refused to give any type of refund and did not try to fix the issue by allowing us to stay at another cabin. We ended up staying because we already paid for the place and trying to find a place last minute was difficult, and we didn't want to spend any more money than we already did. I also found online reviews from other people with the same concerns (see pictures below), specifically with this cabin, the issues haven't been addressed, and they continue to rent this place out. read more
