This was the worst experience I've ever had going to a restaurant. It was a mom and pop restaurant whom recently opened. The my parents worked in the kitchen and the children worked doing the waitressing, taking orders.
The young man was very nice and very friendly, asked if we wanted to go outside since the restaurant was packed. We asked were there misters outside, he said no. So, we opted to sit inside where he took our order.
We came to the resturant because my daughter said the food was good. She had her food to go and thought that is why the wait was long.
The first downfall was we were taken back because we had to pay up front. Then we were told the total was $187, I repeated three times did you say, 1 8 7 and he confirmed yes. After looking at receipt, the total was only $100.87--what a big difference.
The sign said the food would be prepared fresh when ordered and the waiter confirmed. So, we figured the wait would be worth it. I've gone to other restaurants and the wait time was 30-35 minutes the food was nice and hot. So, no big deal on that.
Second problem: after being there for probably a hour and a 1/2, we get the food and I was taken back because the food was brought in Styrofoam to go boxes. So, I was wondering where the plates were after a long wait we should have been eating on a real plate. Was my assumption.
Third problem: after waiting an hour and a 1/2, I expected my food to be hot. The only thing that was hot was the catfish. It was hot and it was good, but the macaroni and cheese, the sweet potatoes were not hot. The Green Beans were hot. The waiter asked if we wanted to heated, we said no.
Fourth and Final reason to not return: there was a couple who sat next to us, was saying they wanted to support blacked owned restaurants is reason they came. Asked our experience, my daughter told of hers the day before (above).
After their food arrived we asked how their food was. And the the young lady was not happy with any of the food or its taste (wondered how you could mess up broccoli. She said salmon and garlic mashed potatoes not good). I believed she asked for butter, in hopes to make the food taste a little better. The waitress came out and told her that because she Ordered the butter There was nothing she can do, that she shouldn't have put it on potatoes. The waitress was rude and disrespectful and we were taken back.
All of sudden the cook came out saying the same thing and said the butter was for the lobster ordered and she made the food salty and there she can do. Very rude and disrespectful, almost attacking the woman. Didn't come out to say; May I help you, can we take anything off bill, nothing.
We were sitting there and was so taken back by the lack of respect, lack of customer service with the daughter and the cook to the customers next to us. So,we were packing up to go because we hadn't seen enough and the guest at other table and decided we were not coming back to resturant.
The waitress speaking louding yelling to the guest/woman next to us behind the bar. They got up and was walking out the door.
The final problem that I won't go back or recommend resturant.
The cook/mother came from the kitchen screaming at the top of her lungs saying you don't holler at my daughter, just beat it, just beat it, just beat it, (and mind you the guest were already going out the door). Then the daughter came from around the bar and started arguing yelling at the lady while the cook/mom was yelling at guest while stepping towards guest. Finally, the other cook came out and put hand on cook and beckon her to back off.
After that the cook apologized to us twice while cleaning table as if it wasn't their fault this got out of hand. I'm just thankful right now that no guns or anything was pulled out; that's how heated the owner I'm assuming the cook and the daughter were towards the guest while other guest were in restaurant because she didn't like the food.
After I took food home and warmed it up, it was good.
Never to return.
The wait, the disrespect, and lack of professionalism, and then confrontation with guest; I would not recommend or go back.
The place could have a go if they were professional, polite, Cut wait time down, be able to take criticism, offer an alternative if food wasn't right, not charge for food ahead of time for it doesn't allow for flexibility if a guest changed their mind.
It's no for me and my family, this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. read more
