The server took the order of the family next to us first even though we had arrived well before them. Once they finally did take our order (which happened about 30-45 mins after we arrived), we had to wait over an hour for our food. Our son's oatmeal alone took almost an hour. Oatmeal! If you are a parent of a toddler, you know this is a nightmare. We knew we'd have to keep him entertained throughout regardless, but it took my husband and I three different walks with our son before they even checked in on us to tell us the food was on its way. Then they brought the food out one dish at a time so we couldn't even really eat together. We heard the server say they were very busy and while I empathize, this is not excusable. The food was delicious but it was not worth the very long wait. I have never waited that long for food and I very rarely leave reviews. But after that experience, I felt compelled to leave a review. We should've left when we realized they were taking a long time even taking our order. We will not come here again unfortunately. I sincerely hope the team here gets it together because the ambiance and the food are both great.

Second times the charm!…read more Came in today Sunday for lunch while shopping with the fam and safe to say today's experience was top notch compared to our first a little while ago! The service was quick, we were seated in a timely manner and the food was so good! We sat closer to the bar and our server was on top of it! We ordered and had our food right away not even a 20 minute wait! We got the pulled pork sandwich, recommended by our server, the western burger, and the Mac and cheese for our little! It was all soooo good! The pulled pork sandwich was amazing. Happy to see this business thriving! And glad to update our review to a positive one! Today was great! Cheers!

First off I do not frequent higher end restaurants very often. I wanted to take my girlfriend out…read morefor a nice dinner on my birthday, so we invited my brother and his wife. I made reservations for 4 of us for a Friday night at 5:00. We were seated in the dining area on time, however because of the time of day the sunshine that was reflected off the building across the street through the window was absolutely blinding. We moved a table back but there was no difference. I let our guests sit in the seats that were not facing this terrible reflection and just dealt with it myself. We should have actually moved completely but didn't want to make a big deal about it. This issue could be easily fixed with blinds (duh) So we ordered our food. Women ordered the ball steak (which is sirloin) my brother ordered fish and I ordered the filet. Well the ball steaks were absolutely horrible (tough as shoe leather) fish (salmon) was ok and filet was also good but undercooked plus they forgot my mashed potatoes. ($69 for a 8oz filet which was probably more like 6 oz ) you would expect much better. We pointed that out (which is quite unbelievable they forgot the potatoes) they eventually brought them on a separate plate ( they were just warm). The butter was still pretty much frozen in the little tin cup that they serve it in. So we pointed out the two ball steaks were like leather. Both of the women have ordered those before and they have been good, well not this time. For the kind of money you spend for these meals, it really is sad. They did remove the two steak dinners from the bill but that does not make it all good in my opinion. Oh yeah and 5 slices of tomato's with cheese on top ( that were not ripe ) at $18 are you serious) For one of the top restaurants in this area, they completely failed. IWaitress was very nice and apologized (like they should) but unfortunately we won't be going back.

My Dad lives in Grass Valley and every time I come up from the Bay Area this is where I eat…read more Now, caveat, he's in his 70s and thinks a $19 sandwich with housemade meats on craft bread is absolutely outrageous, he would be just as happy eating at Subway. There's nothing wrong with his opinion, I don't eat that garbage, but if you can't tell or don't care about quality (yes, I'm being snarky, but seriously, if you're going to complain you have options...) Anyhow, this is where I come to eat, I always pay, and he complains about the price of the sandwich (I paid for) while he eats all of his sandwich and then finishes mine- it is also a lot of food, usually two meals for me, but I'm not a voracious eater. If you're still here after my rant, the food here is quality, you're going to pay more, you're going to wait for it to be prepared, because its not some cafeteria conveyer belt sandwich- it's crafted. The shop is very small, ambiance is- small meat counter, the soda machine has been broken as long as I've been coming, there's no indoor dining. I know, I'm not selling it. BUT Outside you have outdoor tables under the trees, there are birds singing, it feels completely Nevada City, much preferred to eating inside. Typically I order the Reuben and I think that's their best sandwich, but I've also tried the Roast Beef, Italian Ham, and Turkey. I know I mentioned their soda machine is broken, but they have plenty of sodas in a cooler as well as a few very good sides- I'm partial to the Dijon potato salad. So final thoughts- cheapskates with broken tastebuds stay home, let the real ones eat.
