Zero stars (which I can't do) for this organization! Bought a Bestway Queen air mattress on their day of the deal offer for $39! Blew it up and it didn't even hold air for one night. Took it back and they said they can only exchange it if it's in its original packaging. I brought back everything, but it was opened. How can you see it works if you don't open it. Why would I want an exchange if it's inferior quality. I guess my only recourse is to open it and if it doesn't work, keep exchanging it. Very dissatisfied, and will never shop here again, but I may be making a few dozen exchanges. read more

My family not be supporting this business anymore, as we have for years. Went in for a purchase, got to the counter and was informed I couldn't purchase without a mask. I've been trying to support local smaller businesses before going to a big box store. Between their tiny parking lot and horrible location and traffic, I'll just go to Dicks And btw to the man that made the smart remarks about me taking my business to Dicks, I found exactly what I needed, without the harassment. I was in need of some sunglasses and wristbands for my son. I was rudely stopped by the cashier and forbidden from entering the store without a mask. I asked if the store would provide me with a mask, since it is their requirement. The cashier said Big 5 would not. I asked if I could pull my shirt over my face and was told that wouldn't suffice, since my shirt might slip. I did not give my business to Big 5 this day, and I will not return. Instead, I went to Sportsman's Warehouse and Dick's Sporting Goods up the street. It's no wonder Big 5 is a dying business! read more

Trying to find a bathing suit that fits my upper half and this lady... had a few options tells me only can try on 3 said well can I have the 4th item to try together but she said nope!!?? u just will have to figure it out. What a bitch!!?! To Ms. Blonde Floor Manager was rude as ever. So I tried the 1st suit on and just bought it. $60 later. Have my suit but left with anxiety from a rude Manager. Not cool. EXTREMELY RUDE and non helpful staff. Very disorganized facility and store. The store itself smells terrible. The parking is inconvenient and awkward. The employees are rude, short, abrupt and power trippy. They have no idea where to actually find their own product. I promptly left after not being able to find anyone who actually worked the floor so I could find an item in another size and getting an attitude from the teller person. Go to dicks sporting goods. Their people are helpful, and they typically have plenty of help on the floor. Will never return here. read more

Upon entering the store I was rudely told I have to have a mask I said excuse me and in an even rudder tone told to get a mask or get out. With no disrespect to Sun, Redding is not Daly City. Our community is driven largely by the nature that surrounds us. Therefore, the heavy focus on fishing and outdoor sports. That being said let me give kudos where kudos are due...... 5--Star Service ***** I went to Big 5 to look at - and hopefully find - a pair of shoes to replace my very worn Coleman hiking sneakers. There was a clearance sale out in the parking lot, so I spent my first 15-20 minutes trying to find something in my size and try them on. Unfortunately nothing there fit the bill. So I went in... I was greeted by a kind young lady in the footwear department and spent the next hour sending her into the back many times trying to find just the right pair. She (Amanda) was very knowledgeable and friendly. During all this time she engaged most of her customers in small talk while helping them. I felt quite at ease and not rushed. Not once did Amanda show signs of stress, but instead, was patient yet prompt with each customer - even when there were lots of us there at one time. Her knowledge of footwear was shared with me and helped to pinpoint what styles of shoes I should be looking at. With her direction and patience I finally singled-out a pair of New Balance cross trainers (622's) which were surprisingly light as well as supportive. Their comfort was far beyond that of the Asics and the Nike's (which were the lightest of the bunch but did not fit my foot well at all - bummer), and the Dr. Scholl's which were heavy yet gave no upper support. The majority of what I tried on were either too thin or too small though they were stamped in my size. The service there can't be beat. And I'm sure if they don't have what you're looking for, they are more than able to direct you to a store (either locally or regionally) that can assist you. I would like to add that John was very helpful as well. He made it a point to come over and see if I needed any assistance, and he did it with patience and a smile. Do they have THAT in the Bay Area? The staff here is awesome!!!! I tried calling REI multiple times for camping gear and each time they acted like it was a problem to see what they had in-store. Big 5 saved the day and not only checked for things over the phone, but made sure I had what I needed when I was there. Compared to the Big 5 in Daly City. I think the focus for this store was fishing. I came in looking for resistance bands but they only had a few to select from. Lots of items for the outdoors like camping, fishing, hunting. Hardly a selection for tennis or golf. read more

So My Wife & I just came out of the Yolla Bollies & We are going fishing in the morning with the Grandkids so We stopped at big five in Redding on Hilltop to get some size 18 treble hooks so I could tie up the poles for the Grandkids tonight. I was greeted well asked at the front door if I had a mask to put on My face. If not I couldn't come in. I asked Malia if that is a law now. She told Me that was their policy now. Nothing posted on the doors that I saw or she pointed out. I then asked Malia if She could go get the hooks for Me & I would pay for them. She rudely told Me no (stepped right in front of My face mind You. I said what are You going to do arest Me for not having a mask? She stepped right in front of Me & told Me she could't let Me in. I was wearing a hat so I took it off & covered My face with My hat & she said no You must have a mask! Then two kids walked into the store with sweet shirts on that they turned around & tied the hood up on their face. I happened to have a sweet shirt on Myself so I said Is it ok to do the same & she told Me no I had to Leave. I asked her what her name was & she told Me. Then I asked for her manager she said I would get him. So talib the manager comes around the corner & asked Me what the problem was. I told him his worker Malia was very rude to Me & then right away he told Me we have the right not to sell to customers & told Me without even asking Me what happened that they refuse to sale to Me & I had to leave. Meanwhile those Kids were in their shopping or something with just their hoodies on like I wanted to do after I saw malia politely said hi to them & let them in. I respect the fact they are trying to protect their Employees & their Customers but nobody else in our City is forced to wear masks & malia & talib could've gone about it a whole different way. I am 61 years old & I have never been treated so rudely anywhere. I have bee in sales since I started working at 16. I have been shopping at big 5 since they opened in Orange County in My neighborhood & here in Redding since I moved here 12 Years ago. Talib never let Me tell him my side of this story he was rude & very unprofessional from the time I met him. I will never step inside a big 5 again in My Life. I hope Sportsman's Warehouse puts them out of Business! I will do everything in My power to help them do that. I have been fishing & hunting all My Life & I respect everybody & everything. Never have I killed anything I can't eat & I respect all the laws My whole Life. I have never written a post on google or yelp in My Life. Went in to buy shoes. I waited patiently while the shoe guy was helping another customer. About 10 min. When he was done he started toward me but a pretty young woman walked up and he completely ignored me. I will not be buying anything from there again. read more

Fine place to grab something really quick if you're driving along I-5. They have a modest selection of merchandise and staff is moderately helpful. Overall, a cheaper version of Dick's. They do have good sales though! read more

Worst manager ever, his name is "Brian"....I came to this place 2x from out of town to purchase a Ruger 10/22. First time I showed up at 7:45pm and he told me it was too late to start paperwork, bs. They close at 9pm and it takes less than 5min. So I call the next morning and show up at 1pm. Same guy refuses to sell to me because I need my hunting license, strange thing is I've purchased a long gun before I even had my hunting license, and I also purchased a high powered rifle from Olde West and they let me bring my hunting license when I picked up the rifle. This guy is bad business for big 5. I HIGHLY recommend you go somewhere else if you want to get anything done. I will never go back, the guy couldn't even look me in my eyes and acted like he didn't know who I was, I was there less than 24hrs earlier. BAD business. read more
