It used to be at a different area in The Southbay Pavillion when it used to be called The Carson Mall; and it was a bigger building too! This building that it's in, is wayyyy smaller, but they still have the products you need for sports, shooting, fitness, etc.. It's still always awesome getting their random coupons in the mail. Even if you saw something for sale and you forgot your coupon; the workers here are nice enough to give it to you for the sale price, as long as you're not lying and if the sale's still going on. It's pretty clean and well-organized inside, along with great workers who give their customers full attention. I sure do miss seeing Neelam working at this store! She was super cool and had great customer service! Same with the lady with the reddish hair and glasses, who likes watching wrestling! All in all; this Big 5 gets a BIG 5 STARS from me because it's just phenomenal after so many years; plus... you can't go wrong with the huge parking and the fact that it's in a mall.

This is a hidden little gem that supplies all your fishing needs from fishing lures to bait, pools,…read morenets etc. you can also purchase your fishing license at this location. The customer service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Going forward this will be my new spot for picking up fishing equipment. I was on a mission, my grandson has lost his noise cancelling headphones now 3 times and I have had to replace them 3 times. He goes to a lot of concerts and he knows, your headphones are on your head or in the car, do not just leave them lying around. So, when he did it again, I told him his mom was going to have to replace them as his behavior shows a lack of responsibility for items that he is tasked with caring for. Anyway, I saw this Big 5 on the way to the taking him to the circus so I caved and pulled over. We went in and the cashier was very nice. She was not sure where the headphones were, so she asked a salesperson walking the store. He knew right away and showed me where they were and was able to tell me a little about the selection. I mean, they go from cheap to our you kidding me prices. I found the perfect pair made by Razor and went to the cashier. On my way there, I saw a lot of cool stuff had I been shopping. I told the cashier I was concerned with fit so had all intention of paying for them, opening them right there and trying them on my super sensitive grandson's head. She was fine with that and was going to just let me get another pair or give me my money back if we could not find a great fit. These were perfect. She was happy, we were happy. It all worked out. One young man tried to help me out but since the store was busy they could not attend to me when I had questions but did see another associate who I believe was a manager not doing much to help the young associate on the floor OR any other customers like myself. Also seen a young lady pop in and out every once in awhile also doing nothing to help. It just seemed like there was no real leadership or urgency from staff who appeared to be in charge. Seeing employees standing around or not actively helping while customers were clearly waiting was disappointing. I understand that stores can get busy, but customers should still feel acknowledged, especially if your a manager. In the end I left with nothing which was also very disappointing. I had the pleasure of working with Kevin from Sales and eventually meeting their owner Austin (both…read moreare great guys) while working together to find a preowned stairmaster for my wife to enjoy in our new home (she's always wanted on but they are super expensive brand new). Kevin was kind enough to keep in touch with me for several months while he worked on finding the proper stairmaster to fit our home gym layout, my wife's preferences, while also staying within my budget. Once Kevin identified a potential fit, we went down to the warehouse, tested it out in person, and left with an order placed, water bottles from their company, and big smiles on our faces. The unit was delivered and installed by another very nice guy (apologies I forget his name), and we've had 3 great months of workouts so far on the machine as well as periodic check-ins from Kevin to make sure all is well and we are happy.
