Scheels is like a department store, Bass Pro shops, & a small cafe combined. Lol. Two levels of just everything you can imagine. Sports cards, memorabilias, grilling (the wall of bbq & meat seasonings!), camping gear, shooting gear, golf, fishing, athletics, jerseys, shoes, legos... they have a ferris wheel inside the building, a candy store, and a cafe serving snacks and small bites. Ive been an REI member for as long as I can remember and I feel like in the last couple of years, I…read morehaven't been as satisfied with their products and services offered in store. Here are the reasons why they only get 3 stars: There's a woman that's worked here for the past 2+ years who initially offered to sign me up for an REI credit card, which would give me 1.5% to REI on my purchases and other perks like $100 REI credit or something, so I agreed. I've come in here fairly often to pick up supplies and she never seems to remember me, not that that matters, but I've had to return items like walking poles that were defective, and most recently, had to exhange out a possibly defective butane portable canister and each time, she's had to have a manager come suss out the situation. Probably it's store policy but I feel like in the last couple of years, their return policy isn't like before. They used to have a no questions asked policy, but these days, it feels like they scrutinize a lot more, probably a lot more people coming in. What was really annoying about the butane container exchange, which the manager did agree to, was the same woman who signed me up for the credit card, said I owed 67 cents or something. I thought I had no rewards since she said I owed money, so I then asked her about my REI credit card awards and I had over $240+ or something. Of course, I would use that! What's even more annoying is that she asked me a second time, are you Vivian? The first time was when she looked into my REI account to exchange out the butane canister and she asked if I was Vivian. No, I didn't have an imposter replace me between when her supervisor came to talk to me about the item and when she exchanged it out. Ugh, that was annoying. A few times I've had store workers help suggest items to me but feels like they don't really truly understand what I need. Awhile ago, I bought a pair of hiking boots and they just aren't really good, even though they are the top of the line French Lowa hiking boots. One thing you should know is that I definitely don't skimp on gear as I need and like high quality items for the outdoor things I do. I also bought a pair of Altra trail running shoes, and they also aren't the best shoes, so they've become my get dirty caving shoes. I was better off with an older pair of Pumas for my running needs. I recall coming in here to purchase a pair of base layer pants this past winter as I was headed to Europe and would partake in some skiing and recall the woman that helped me wasn't that nice as I asked her to take the pair I needed off the mannequin, it was the last pair of small they had. I can't count how many times I have been here as I do a lot of outdoors activities and have a lot of gear, but just feels like lately, this place just isn't really living up to the standards I used to enjoy about this store. It might be time to break up soon honestly...I guess all relationships must end, even the good ones that have gone sour.

I'm not one to usually write a review about sporting stores, I usually just review places I eat at…read more I would, however, like to write a very nice experience I had today around 12:30 - 1 PM ish when I had to find a new mug/tumbler to bring to my Krav Maga classes. There was quite a selection, and I was looking for a specific design so I looked for an employee who went through a lengthy process on the hunt for the tumbler I picked out. I unfortunately do not remember his name, but he had blonde hair I believe and was fairly tall compared to me lol. I have OCD, so I analyze every detail when I buy something. Or just everything in general. After he had recommended the Yeti Rambler and a few others, I ultimately decided on that one. This was when the probably most odd adventure at Dick's began of finding the tumbler color I liked that had the least amount of markings, dings, imperfections, etc. There were quite a few of that specific tumbler color, & it took a decent amount of time to finally decide on one. After pulling out every color of that size of mug I decided on, I narrowed it down to a few, but was still struggling due to some very minor markings I saw. I had asked for his help more than a few times to see if he could spot any markings on them and he crouched onto the floor with me, looking at them and pointing out what appeared to be the best option while I rotated the tumbler to look at it with the lighting at certain angles. Not only did this employee take the time and patience to help me, but went as far as getting me a wet and dry paper towel to see if a tiny dot of a smudge would wipe off -spoiler: it did indeed come off- but I really sincerely appreciate how understanding he was about the situation and how far he went to help me. I'd imagine a majority of people on this planet would go mad trying to help someone pick a tumbler for over an hour, but there was no judgment on his part and was very kind. I also left with an awesome tumbler thanks to him, and slightly embarrassed/guilty for the probably agonizing experience he had to go through lol, but still was very kind throughout all of it. The service is almost always good and the guy that built the bike when I bought it was really cool, helpful, and informative. I can't say the prices are always great, but what place has that? I will say they always have deals and good sales and so the pricing is pretty good. They have a large selection and the place is really big so there's usually many of each item in stock. Quick "in & out" of the dressing room. The style of pant was a slim comfortable fit. The narrow pocket on the left will work well for carrying things. Items that clip or say a flashlight can carry well clipped on the edge of the front or rear pockets. The clothes here are noted to be extremely durable and from what we've come to understand; is that they lasts for YEARS, so ultimately it's worth the high end price point. The store carries much more than just clothes here. Features footwear, accessories and tons of tactical equipment. The employee (Eli?) that assisted us was very helpful and informative about the products we purchased. He has been working for them for 4 years and his knowledge of the brands and customer service was excellent. My son seems extremely happy with his purchase and is excited at what's to come. I have a Kaiser M5 Elliptical in my home that I did not purchase from At-Home…read more The unit is about 5-6 yrs old and was starting to click and make odd noises. I contacted Kaiser and we tried to troubleshoot via email, texts and video but to no avail. I started looking for local exercise equipment repair techs and came across about 4-5 of them including At-Home. They were the only one to actually answer the phone and provide a response. I was told I'd hear back in 1-2 business days and I did. I heard from Chad to schedule and he had Seth come to my home the following day. Seth came by and dis-assembled the unit and saw that the belt was beginning to shred and identified that as the issue. I ordered a new belt and a week later Seth returned to install the new belt. It seemed fine when he left and the next day we used it and heard a rubbing sound. I contacted Seth and he came by later that day and noticed it was rubbing against the outer case. He made some adjustments and now it's good as new. Been using it for two weeks and no issues at this time. Thank you Chad and Seth for taking care of us. P.S. none of the other repair places ever returned my phone calls. I have a gym in my garage and will always call At-Home for any needed repairs.
