He gave me a very expensive quote (almost $1000 including the initial service call) but I had no choice - it was an emergency. He came back a couple of days later with the part. Over the next few days the heat went out intermittently. They came back out and said there was nothing wrong with the boiler and it might be the thermostat and that they would get me a quote. They never did. I had another heating guy come out he found a loose connector in the boiler. He fixed it and that took care of issue. It was a $200 fix and was likely the problem to begin with since the symptoms before Salazar "fixed" the unit were the same as afterwards. I also had Salazar come out to give me quotes on installing heat pump systems and they never sent the quotes nor replied and I followed up about them.

I was unable to find a spare parts in the same day after many phone calls, so I called TEM control this morning (Saturday) because it had good Google reviews. Tem Control showed up in less than 20 minutes, and confirmed that it was inducer motor issue (took about 5 minutes), and quoted the replacement cost would be $350 ~ $550 (parts and labor). Tem control left my house to get the parts and came back a few hours later to complete the job (less than 15 minutes). so we got the heat back on the same day which was wonderful. But we were charged $520. We were told that we need to paid for the time which Tem control spent on getting the parts.

Hugo Lopez, the technician (pleasant fellow), who came was very knowledgeable and thorough, offering some alternatives on a couple of minor issues, and GENTLY encouraging me to pay attention to changing my air filters. As far as the crapped out thermostat went he got around that problem with a jumper and had a replacement with him on the truck. I passed on that $120 one since I'm planning to upgrade to either Nest or Honeywell smart thermostats in downstairs, upstairs and in the garage. It's been cool so I can use his jumper trick if I need to get things cooled off upstairs. The price was reasonable for his 3 hours of work. I'll be calling them again................ (One comment about my reviews. If I receive a really good service, dining or shopping experience I may post it. If I have a REALLY bad experience I make sure to post it so others are warned in advance.)

Another heating company in the area came out to look at it and told us that the furnace required a new part that was not available anywhere in the Chicagoland area. (which was just a lie to try to get us to buy a new furnace from them instead) Wanting another opinion, we called Fricold. The serviceman came within the hour and fixed our furnace quickly, apparently having no problem finding the part needed. That furnace is still working fine today. Since then, we have used Fricold for our regular HVAC cleaning and maintenance. In addition to providing good, honest services, they are always very courteous. They also take their shoes off (or put covers over their work shoes) before entering the house, which I appreciate.

This year called back to see if we could continue to see what could be done with the AC that was working kind of sluggish. The guy was very rude and said he stated we would have to replace the furnace and AC and would not work on it anymore. Which is odd because he really never checked the AC and last time he did come to check on it, I replaced the battery in the thormostat and it actually started working again, so he really did nothing. Yes its old but check on the unit first before saying that. The furnace was not the issue i was even asking about at the time.
