Dozen Oysters , Crispy Deviled Eggs, Deviled Eggs

Service was great on a Sunday at the bar. A weekend happy hour is a rarity and this one was a good one. The happy hour prices were actually happy hour prices too! Being in union market the vibe and ambience is nice. Lots of different patrons and people were friendly. The fried deviled eggs were good, but the regular deviled eggs were delicious. I always try the deviled eggs at restaurants, and I'd come back for these. The oysters were pretty good as well. A nice quick spot to stop before our Labor Day weekend activities.

Stumbled upon Bidwell at Union Market and I don't think I can rave enough. The oysters? Absolutely delicious--and always a deal at $1.25 each if you double up (otherwise $1.50). Basically a permanent happy hour, and I'm here for it. The mussels in white wine sauce were chef's kiss--I honestly inhaled them. The sauce was perfectly balanced, and the garlic bread that came with it was the ideal match. I'd go back for this dish alone. We also tried their jello shots, which were fun and tasty--definitely on the stronger side! As for drinks, the mojitos were on point. Our server clearly knew what he was doing. The atmosphere is warm, casual, and effortlessly cool--an airy, friendly space within Union Market. With indoor and outdoor seating, trendy décor, and a laid‑back, neighborhood‑gathering vibe, it feels welcoming whether you're with friends or flying solo I would definitely go back. Can't wait to go with the girls next time!

Cobb Salad with unique delicious ingredients of butternut squash and parsnips = delicious

We stopped in here on a Sunday night after doing an entire lap around the entire venue to see what tickled our fancy. I'm so glad we landed here and were impressed with the fresh food and variety of vegetable selections. I chose the crispy oysters and this was a plump tender crunchy flavorful delight. My fresh Cobb salad had additional atypical ingredients of diced butternut squash and parsnips, which made this an A+ delight. Fantastic service was relaxed and friendly and the restaurant decor is cozy and intimate. Would happily return here to sample more menu items.

Service was good but the food wasn't. The Kale salad wasn't washed well so each bite was gritty with dirt/sand. Another friend got the same salad with chicken and had the same grit, plus the chicken was inedibly dry and tough. Another person in my group had an awful stomach ache after eating an egg dish. Really disappointing.

This place was a breath of fresh air after a long day of traveling! From the moment we sat down, the service was absolutely phenomenal. We actually stumbled upon this restaurant right before walking into the food hall after noticing a sign advertising a deal on oysters. I usually steer clear of raw seafood, but my curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to try just one oyster. The staff was so friendly and didn't judge me for ordering only one--which honestly made me laugh. To my surprise, I *loved* it! I ended up ordering five more and devoured them in seconds. I also tried the kale chip nachos, which were really tasty. The bartender was still in training but super accommodating and made us some great cocktails. If I lived in D.C., this would definitely be my go-to spot!

Came here for a private birthday party. It was in the back against the windows. It was excellent and I highly recommend this place for a private event. Staff were extremely attentive. Never a dirty glass , plate or napkin sat. Food (passed appetizers)- very good. There was a burger on rye and a raw tuna on a fried chip that were my favorite. I ate too many of the burger but loved every bite! The fried mozzarella sticks were big! I didn't try the deviled eggs. There were also fresh shucked oysters with many types of topping choices set out to get at any time. There was a server with champagne the whole time. But after a glass my friends and I were ready for a martini. Carlos took care of us for drinks. (Since it was a group event, you ordered the drinks within the party- you didn't have to go to the bar to order.) While there I saw the huge pizza oven and a clam pizza and now MUST go back to try it!!!

We went to Bidwell on a whim for brunch. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to be seated promptly. I had a yummy salad for lunch. It was good, but I thought it was a little overpriced even by DC standards. I like that the restaurant is attached to Union Market. There are so many vendors to explore. The market provides a good shopping opportunity or a chance to find a sweet treat after the meal.

Bidwell is fantastic!! I don't understand why it doesn't have a higher rating! Their burger (a patty melt) is insanely good and their turkey burger is great, too. I've also had the shrimp appetizer and their Caesar salad with salmon, which were both delicious. They have an amazing bottomless brunch! They bring a bottle of champagne and a bottle of juice to your table in an ice bucket, and they have the best service so it is truly bottomless! I didn't love their brunch food (I've had the omelette and burrito which I would not recommend), but it was a fun experience all around (and you can order lunch/dinner items during brunch)! We've had some of the best service we've ever had there! So friendly, nice, and helpful! Although, that's not the case every time - but all of our servers have been good at the very least. We like their seating options, especially outside - they have some of the best tables at union market!

Lobster Taco..... not really but yep it's awesome
    Rich R.

The service was great and the food was great. Definitely get the lobster taco which is not really a taco at all. It's a small bit but "oh my", I could eat ten of them, so very tasty and worth not missing. Also try the Irish Onion soup, if there is not an inch of cheese on top then I can't math- cause there's a lot.... Who said "sorry this is too much cheese?" - Im pretty certain no one EVER.... So the sourdough grilled cheese, also with too much cheese- said no one. It's awesome too with just a touch of truffle.....

Still a solid choice at Union Market. I enjoyed some cocktails and dinner on this visit. We had the crispy deviled eggs to start. It was a first for me, and I loved it because the yolk was so creamy. The salmon with veggies was soooo good, healthy, and filling (because hello, I was saving room for dessert). The sangria was a surprisingly wonderful end to the meal! Lightly sweet with fruit notes (and literal fruit).

We stopped for a late lunch. The white pizza was excellent! I would definitely order it again. The patty melt was served on a delicious rye bread but the patty itself was nothing special. We also had a house salad which was a nice light addition to the pizza.

The "mountainous" deviled egg. The scale might not be properly captured, but it's massive.

Bidwell was a very pleasant and kind of unexpected surprise. I was in Washington DC for the weekend surprising a great friend of mine for my birthday. Because of that and the lack of planning ahead of time due to the surprise nature of my trip. The restaurant had a very eclectic menu for brunch/lunch, and I'd love to go back to sample many more of the dishes they have on offer. When I'm visiting new or unfamiliar restaurants, I often like to try many dishes. And I'll often order a larger number of only appetizers rather than one larger entree dish. As a result, I had the; lobster tacos, the deviled eggs, the fried calamari, the roasted cauliflower, in addition to the butternut squash soup. The fried calamari was very good (as expected), and the lobster tacos were suprisingly underwhelming. I think that I was particularly disappointed with the soft shell "wrap" on the tacos. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting with respect to the shell/wrap, but the texture of what I did get felt like it took away from the dish. Everything else about it was pretty crisp and tasty, but those tastes got a little "lost" in the soft/uneventful warp of the taco. The butternut squash soup was just a half a hair "under" salted for my tastes. And as I've gotten a little older, I've become VERY sensitive to salt levels in restaurant food. Restaurant food tends to be oversalted to my tastes, but this particular dish was just the slightest, minute amount under on the salt. Yet still it was overall quite good and very light (which is a good thing) for a butternut squash soup. By contrast the roasted cauliflower felt just the same half of a hair's width "over" salted to my taste. it was still very, very good and really well prepared temperature and texture wise. What I thought to myself as I was having this meal was that if I combined the roasted cauliflower into the butternut squash soup, then both dishes would have been at a perfect level of saltiness. The standout surprise was the deviled egg, and it was the only dish that I remembered to get a picture of before I finished it off. The height and volume of the deviled eggs filling was a real surprise, which may be hard to decipher from the photo but it's "huge." It's flavor (which was very mustard forward) - I loved. I don't know if "everyone" would have loved it (because I think people are used to more simplified and sweet/er flavor profile for deviled eggs). However I thought they were really speacil and stood out from the rest of the menu in a good way. There are still so many dishes that I'd like to try there, that I'm 100% sure I'll be back to try this place again the next time I'm in Washington, DC.

This place is just the cutest. A gem sitting right. Y union market it's just too conveniently located. They have an oyster happy hour where oysters are 1.25 if you by by the doze and 1.75 if you don't buy by the dozen between like 4-630p. Their wood oven grill makes all the pizza slap. Loove it when it's fresh and you gotta try the charcoal crust! The oysters are fresh and so is the calamari. A drink with gin and matcha? First place in the city to see do this and I'm equally in love every single time. I've always had pleasurable service here and the location couldn't be more pristine! Perfect for all occasions and had indoor and outdoor seating. Casual ambiance. Great place

The food at this location was great. The red snapper with the rice and tomatoes was very flavorful. The red snapper could have been cooked a little harder. However, other than that it was great. Did I mention that we sat in most comfy green velvet chairs in our cozy booth? How sexy! Service: our waiter, Jordan, was the best! He provided great service and recommendations.
