This place would make a killing in Shoreditch. First off, the butcher side of things is like an art gallery for meat. I've never seen meat displayed like that, and now I can't help but think this is the style that should be replicated everywhere because it's genius.
Now for the restaurant side - the waitress didn't speak much English, but understood some. The chap doing the butchery spoke better English than I did, and subbed in for the waitress to explain the menu and take our order.
So yeah, we ended up with a crazy volume of food. We shared the beetroot salad to start, and then went for the butcher's choice of beef for the main with the accompaniments. We each had a piece of spider steak (one of the best steaks I've had period), a bavette steak and I think an onglet. All really good, but man, that spider steak. Amazing.
You get three sauces and three sides to share, and if you finish them they'll refill them. You can also go out to the shop and pick out your own meat, paying €12 on top of the normal price for use of the restaurant and the sauces/sides.
We will be back as this isn't far from the hotel we like in Paris and now I'm going to be talking about that steak till we get back there in a couple of years time! read more
