A heaven for bikes, accessories, repairs, and general know-how and bike advice. From the moment you step in, everything looks delightfully clean, organized, and well laid-out. All the staff are incredibly helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and efficient. (A special shout-out to Rachel, who spent time patiently explaining all the basics of how I should choose a bike as a beginner and answering my questions/concerns.) Someone also spent a solid 30 minutes helping me pick out the right type of helmet and fit, and the shop was fine with staying open past their regular hours in order to get my bike modifications (adding kick stand, etc.) done in time for me to take it that evening after I bought it. They seem to really care about helping you have a better biking experience, and aren't just trying to sell you things or move on to the next customer. I've never had to wait to see someone, and advice was always rendered candidly and without any kind of snobby attitude.
The customer service is what really what puts this place on its own level, but they also have a an amazing repair shop that turns things around very quickly. Both my husband and I bought our bikes from here and are so glad we did. A bit on the pricier side, but it's worth the slightly added expense for the much more pleasant quality of the experience. They didn't have my particular bike size (I'm on the extremely petite side) in stock when I visited, but they promptly ordered one and it came in right on time in less than a week, as promised. (Compare, for instance, to City Bikes, http://www.yelp.com/biz/city-bikes-washington-3?hrid=8U_bjlaiU10r838-j0moKw, another bike shop in the neighborhood, which could not get its act together to order a bike for test-riding in nearly a month.) Another cool plus they offer is free maintenance on their bikes for a year, and the store hosts weekly group rides and classes around the DC area.
