The food is not healthy a lot of viruses and bacteria around the table. We didn't get the correct order.

If you want piping hot, fresh egg tarts, this is the place to go in Little Saigon in Houston. Not…read moreonly that, but their mango mochi was so soft, chewy, and full of delicious mango filling with little mango fruit bits. But the egg tarts are the star of the show. Incredibly flaky with a creamy sweet custard filling. Others just don't compare. The guys up front were cordial and shout out to the hard working bakers and staff in the back. The inside is functional and reminiscent of the immigrants who brought this area together and continue to keep this community thriving. Next time we're in Houston we'll have to try their other pastries as well. As others noted, don't forget to bring cash as there is a small credit card fee.

I'm gonna start by saying that I'm pretty picky/particular about egg tarts. I've been meaning to…read moretry this place for a long time. I wanted to know if it lived up to its hype. We finally came around to checking it out and OMG YES. It absolutely is worth the hype. As a lover of egg tarts and someone who is also very particular about it - these have won my heart! I also heard great things about the mango mochi so we couldn't leave without those. Thankfully they still had some in stock. I heard they sell out quickly especially on weekends. Those also lived up to its hype. SO YUMMY! Tastes so fresh including the mangoes. My kiddo who LOVES mango anything loved them so much! My husband also got 2 savory pastries (I forgot what they were called and I forgot to take a picture) and those were yummy too. Perfectly flakey crust just like the egg tarts. We wanted to get sesame balls but they were sold out. Customer service was great. The guy that took our order was very nice. It was pretty busy but he moved through the line quickly. There's some seating inside if you want to eat there. Prices are very reasonable at $2 each for the mochi and egg tarts. The savory pastries were $3. It's located in a shared lot/area. Parking can be tight and limited on a busy weekend day but they have parking right out front for the Eck bakery customers. Also note that if you pay with card it's a 2.5% charge so cash is better if you have it. We didn't but we know now for future. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back. Next time we'll come earlier and get a bigger order and try their other offerings.

While there are crepe cakes available…read moreeverywhere, Lady M is the OG and their crepe cakes consistently deliver a silky, fluff delicate delight for special occasions. Each cake is made of layers of individual crepes spread with a thin layer of cream so it takes more effort to make one of these than the usual cake. ** Dubai chocolate (4/5)-- seasonal and soon to be replace with Dubai chocolate strawberry! Although pistachio cream and chocolate are usually pretty dense, the cream here still remained fluffy and light while feeling decadent. The pistachio didn't taste artificial either. ** Green tea crepe cake (5/5)-- always a classic and perfect for fans of strong tea flavor. Fluffy, airy, melt in your mouth goodness. Be wary of inhaling while you eat because of the matcha powder! Besides the crepe cakes, they also have "normal" sponge cake, mont Blancs, chocolate covered treats, and coffee/teas. The grand interior and set up of this location makes it feel luxurious but could definitely be intimidating or less appealing to solo visitors or those who just want to pop in and out. There are waiters greeting you at the front and a line of staff at the pastry case at the back. No price tags in the display case so sticker shock may be a possibility (there is a menu to browse for dine in you could ask for though). The inside looks like somewhere for high tea, and the service fits the part. The restrooms were clean too. It was really quiet on a weekend morning with just us. One thing I didn't like was it was FREEZING inside. Even with a hoodie, I was still quite cold so it was harder to enjoy the cakes to the fullest. Lady M will still be a special occasion place for me instead of a usual stop, but I'm happy to have the option to visit whenever instead of flying to New York, etc. If you've never had a "good" crepe cake, definitely try their original or green tea matcha versions!

You can dine in or take your desserts to go. The must-try here is the Signature Mille Crêpes cake. It's light, airy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. It paired well with the iced strawberry matcha. We also took home the Earl Grey and Tiramisu slices, which were just as good later with a hot cup of tea or espresso. The slices (and full cakes) are on the pricier side, but the delicate layers and unique flavors make it worth it. The staff at this location were friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better.

We also ordered a ube choux and two macarons (vanilla and pistachio). The ube choux was much better, the ube filling actually tastes like ube, which is pretty rare in ube-related food or drink. The choux, however, reminded me of pastry that has been sitting out for a while - kinda hard. The macarons were actually great. Flaky, soft, and the fillings were delicious. Sad that the quality has dropped so much.

However, we…read moredecided on Desseire as an Asian-flavored French techniqued bakery sounded like an excellent option. Its in a less trafficked area of Chinatown and sort of tucked away in a corner of the strip mall. It has a casual pick up and go vibe, with display cases of baked goods and a couple options on the counter (dont miss the caneles). The cashier (potentially also the baker) was friendly and was super patient with us as we were making decisions and then noticing a special and adding extra goods (sorry for making you box and unbox so many times!) Anyways, all the baked goods we got were reasonably priced around $3-4. They also have some larger tiramisu options but we didn't grab any this time. I got a canele, a variety of choux, and some cupcakes. I enjoyed the canele and it had a very nice crust but the center wasn't as custardy as some I've had but regardless I enjoyed it and I also rarely see caneles so it was a nice treat. The choux were the winners for me though, filled with various creams (I got mango, pandan, and pistachio). I really liked the choux pastry and found it light and crisp. The filling was also perfect, light, held its texture and didn't spill out as I was eating it, and perfect level of sweetness for me. I also enjoyed flavor of the cupcakes but I did think they were slightly dense. Overall, this was such a great find and glad we stopped by. It may end up becoming one of my staples to have pastries for the week!
