It's Bi-mart. Not the nicest one I have been too, and it seemed like I was the only one in the entire building.

Thrift stores in college towns are full of surprises and discarded treasures amidst semester shifts. This store has a section dedicated to both University of Oregon and Oregon State collegiate wear, convenient for new students and alumni. If you need storage, there are usually dorm and moving essentials on hand, such as totes, easy to assemble shelves and drawers. There is also a better selection of clothing, footwear, outerwear and accessories (purses, backpacks, hats, and jewelry) here thanks to the evolving student body. If you need a book for a class, their shelves are bursting in all genres. I found a beautiful Indigenous children's book, a handful of modern Little Golden Books; including Dolly Parton, Elvis, and The Golden Girls, and several vintage The Far Side books by Gary Larson. Everything I purchased was in like new condition. I'm sure the Portland Leather clutch ($8) will be a nice gift for a dear friend, that is, if I don't keep it for myself!

She also found a precious moments figurine, it was missing something from it but it was half off. My daughter found a scrub top for my Mom, which was really sweet. I agree with other yelpers, some of the prices are higher than the original price of items. But sometimes you can find a good deal and it's fun to look for the certain color tag that is half off.

I like this Target. It seems smaller than the two in my own town, but I've always found what I need…read morehere. I love the end-caps with clearance shelves on them. I found a perfect replacement storage tub I use at work for less than $5 on clearance here, and it was more heavy-duty than the old one. Employees seem ok. I've never had any of them go out of their way to help me. The ones in electronics go overboard in greeting you and wanting to help you find things. I'm going to presume that's the loss prevention training talking there. Try to stay with people as much as possible. Unfortunately their over enthusiastic attitudes were a little off-putting as I'm trying to shop and discuss things with my husband. I see a game he might like, ask him if he owns it or not (he's got a million video games, so I can't keep track of that, and have to ask), employee jumps in to say it's great and starts rambling about it. I'd love to say, shut the hell up because I wasn't talking to you, but desperately trying not to be rude, and wait for the rambling speech to end so my husband can respond and we can continue our conversation. It's like the electronics employees are trained stalkers and the rest are zombies who don't acknowledge you exist until you reach a register. They have a Starbucks inside. Seems like they all do these days. Which can be cool if I'm in the mood for something, we will stop. It's not a store I frequent, but will stop at when I'm in town. I just try to avoid the electronics section. Otherwise I find great clearance items in here, and that's always worth the trip.

No "hello," no "can I help you," not even a flicker of acknowledgment while I'm literally standing at the register waiting. I finally had to ask if anyone was even running it, and all I got was, "She'll be with you in a minute." A minute? Try eternity. Ridiculous. I left everything right there and walked out. Amazon, take the wheel, I'm done.

I hadn't been to Rice's in years. I don't know why. Part of it probably was convenience. It's…read morenot on my normal route. It's a special trip. I usually commute by bike, so that's a bigger deal, especially since it takes some cycling on less than ideal streets to get there. I recently needed some wound management supplies. On the way home, my friend stopped by Bi-Mart first. I am a big fan. They didn't have what we needed. We went by Rite-Aid knowing they are usually the most expensive. They apparently carried one of the items we needed, but they were out of stock. We did take note of the price. I waited in line to ask the pharmacist in case they had some other things in back that weren't on the shelf. They told me to go talk to the other part of the store as they just dispense medication. Another line, and I got a cold, "Nope; if it's not on the shelf we ain't got it." We were going to head out to the other Bi-Mart and Safeway next, but decided to stop at Rice's on the way. I am glad we did. My friend didn't want to stop there, but my friend's mind has now been changed. Not only did they have all the items we needed, the prices were much more affordable. Did I mention the staff is very friendly? No. I guess I didn't. Well, they are. Helpful and friendly. Even though it's out of the way, I think I'm going to tell my doctors to change all my prescriptions to Rices. If that helps keep them in business, it's a no-brainer. Small independent shop that cares about the community, unlike Rite-Aid which is a huge corporation - allegedly number 148 in the Fortune 500. Far more personable. It reminds me of growing up in the '70s. One of our neighbors was a pharmacist at an independent drug store nearby. We always used that pharmacy for the same reasons I'll always use Rice's now.
