He was so kind and helpful and even offered me a discount because the last time I came in the register was down.

Do not get your shoes repaired here. I will tell you exactly why. For context: I was seeking to…read moresell my Doc Marten's online however the only problem was that they had some localized and concentrated scratches on the toe that made them look unappealing. I researched scratch repair on youtube and found it was relatively easy yet buying the supplies was costly. I brought my shoes to Sedlak's on the premonition that the repair would be quick, cheap and bring them to look as I had seen online. The repair took the better part of 5 hours and upon returning to pick them up I saw that they were covered in a gross, uneven texture of whatever black wax they had used. Mind you, the scratches on my boot were isolated in nature and did not warrant an entire covering and henceforth ruining of the whole toe box. I was told that they do not do scratch repair directly, but can refinish the toe to make it look even, and less noticeable. This was fine to me until I had received my boots back and the once small scratches on a clean toe had ballooned into slightly less noticeable scratches on a toe covered in a disgusting spatter of bumpy black wax. WORSE STILL, I took my shoes back to the shop to negotiate a possible fix up or refund. I was told that the "nature of the scratches" meant that what is seen below in pictures was the best option. I kindly asked if there's a way to get the texture evened out (possibly hair brushing them) to which I was PERSONALLY HANDED the hair brush where for the following ten minutes I quietly, and vigorously brushed on the bumpy texture as best I could while the gentleman at the front desk helped other customers. IRONICALLY as I was doing this, an older woman came in and explained that they glued on her sandal strap the other day, and upon her daughter taking two steps in the sandal, the strap fell off. The gentleman at the counter told her "Ouhhh.. I was afraid that would happen" and proceeded to cautiously explain that their policy stipulates that they must CHARGE HER AGAIN for the strap that lasted but 5 seconds. She was not the least bit pleased. I am astonished that I was allowed as a customer to sit by the desk and fix the messed up finish of my boots that I paid to have evened out. What my $20 actually went to was a lesson on brush and wax friction and a right forearm workout. My reward was boots that look arguably just a bit worse than when I had brought them in. I am by no means an expert but youtube has shown me that scratch repair is doable by the average joe. I was not apologized to to any extent and the man helping me blamed all the issues with their repair to my shoe on the scratch. What they did was effectively put a tourniquet and do dialysis on my shoe that had a paper cut. If I knew that what happened would be the case I would've hoped that they would explain to me that the scratch repair is not in their line of work, and to seek extenuating help. I would rather be told that they can't do the job than pay to get my shoes destroyed. Do not take your shoes in to get any sort of work done to that respect.

Very Disappointing Experience with the JEWELRY DEPARTMENT!!!!!!!…read more I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Fred Meyer's jewelry department. I purchased a rose-gold, ring with a teardrop opal, and within a few months, the opal fell completely out. I eventually found the stone and brought it in for repair and resizing. Unfortunately, when I received it back, the repair was poorly done and the ring was actually hurting my lady's finger. She has worn it fewer than five times since we bought it originally and after we got it back. Also never left the house and stayed in a box (we just finally noticed why it's hurting and not in good shape) I was eventually told the ring was too damaged to repair, and employees acknowledged that the previous repairmen were not good!! What makes this even more frustrating is the manager's response. I was told, "I am the one who checks rings and wouldn't let this slide." Yet it clearly did slide, and I felt there was no real accountability for how the ring was returned to us. I asked for a contact above the manager and was told that information was confidential. so there was no one above her that I could speak with directly. I later asked if they could call me, only to be told they were on vacation and, if they did call, it would be a in "incognito mode." Phone number...So honestly, I feel like a hopeless customer. I can't speak to anyone above the manager, and upper management feels completely inaccessible--and truthfully, a bunch of crooks hiding under rocks. I understand their standard return/exchange policy, and I take full responsibility for not addressing the issue sooner. I'm a truck driver and frequently away for work, which contributed to the delay. On the day I brought the ring in, I checked Fred Meyer's website beforehand and saw the stated 60-day return and 90-day exchange policy, so I understood that I was outside the normal window. Also at the store I was told it's actually 30 days, however the stores website at this location stated 60-90 day exchanges. I also understand that Fred Meyer Jeweler has contracts and policies they have to follow. However, I don't believe having a contract should mean customers can't have other issues considered when something like this happens. This wasn't buyer's remorse--the ring failed, was repaired, and came back in unacceptable condition. They offered me everything except a full refund, including exchanges. I didn't want another ring, nor did I want this ring back because I genuinely believe there is a design flaw. I worried that if I exchanged it, I would only end up back in the store asking for repairs again. I even tried to settle for another of the ring but asked for a free warranty going forward, especially after being told the previous repairmen "were not good." Instead, I was offered a gift card to Fred Meyer... I didn't spend this much money for grocery's.... it's my lady's proposal ring. I'm not here looking for a gift card to buy a bunch of groceries. I want to feel respected and understood based on my experience as a customer. At this point, I don't want another repair or exchange. I wanted a fair resolution to a situation that was not simply me changing my mind about a purchase. This was supposed to be a meaningful proposal ring, and Fred Meyer's jewelry department has turned it into an incredibly frustrating experience. I expected much better. To anyone ever considering Fred Meyer Jewelers, I wish you nothing but the best. But there are much better people to work with. Harry Ritchie's is the GOAT, and I honestly wish I had never considered this place to begin with. This is absolutely my last purchase ever from this business. Horrible across the board. Godspeed, and hopefully nobody else runs into an unfair situation like mine, because when you do, your gonna be locked in and not understood- I don't want anything to do with this business again so I simply excepted the same ring (new) resized. No warranty. I will get repairs from someone else. Goodbye Fred Meyer jewelers and not another dollar more.
