I cried. I think the review can remain there, but I'll expand: I've been to the actual Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. It was the #1 museum I have ever been to, and I've been around the globe. I wanted to know if this would stack-up. It didn't. Why? It's a whole other experience. From artistically leading you through the history of Vincent and his turbulent life through his own writing, to sitting you down for about 30-45mins of pure immersion of his art... It was beautiful. I cried. This is not something you take babies to, or young children. I mean, you can but they would get loud and board. This is an adult experience that I'm so happy I went at 8:30pm to see. The music the voice-overs, the quotes, and the actual art moving along the walls feels like you are there with Vincent. Feeling the stroke of his brush, his sorrow, how art healed him, and the story of the underdog with GENIUS! I cried. You exit through the gift-shop where they have many of the same articles you can get in Amsterdam. I got magnets. I cried. 10/10 recommend this living experience. BONUS: they have the history in Spanish for those who want to join. The inclusion in that is top notch.

I love the impressionist period and I have always loved art and took extra art history classes in collage for fun. It was an enjoyable experience, I loved refreshing my memory with the history part at the beginning. And the immersive experience was good, colors were crisp and clear unlike some other reviews I saw. I think it was a fun way to enjoy art and is a unique experience. I went with friends and that made it more enjoyable too. We all went to Sawmill Market for lunch after. I'm sure this event has been helping them so for that I'm glad. However... it was underwhelming... as an elite Yelper and seeing a lot of reviews from elites that went to the Yelp event. I'm disappointed that they allowed those reviews on this page.. usually their is a separate review page so maybe something happened or their was a mistake... not sure why they are on this page... For someone who paid $50 for their ticket.. It seemed very over priced. I don't know the cost or Logistics that goes into planning preparing and putting on this type of event but one room seemed lacking for what I paid.. just saying.. I'm going with another friend at the end of the month with a VIP ticket and will see how that goes... and if it's worth the extra fee..

Defimite Highly Recommend *****(5 stars) The Van Gogh Immersive Experience is the "take in the big picture and then look at the details" exhibit. It Is an absolute must if it arrives wherever you live. This was a VIP Invitation only event, (Pre-Opening) therefore, we enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, champagne and wine. The Heritage team members were excellent and quite welcoming. I loved every nano second of being here at night. Located off of I-40 and minutes from I-25, The Van Gogh Immersive Experience is housed in the Sawmill/near Old Town area. Ample parking on the property, near Hotel Chaco, Sawmill parking lot and on street The building's layout offers guests enough room to simply enjoy the many digital artwork(s) on display. Please sit and be still while taking in the highlight of the show: the paintings. There is no rush, so you can enjoy the exhibits at your own pace. It truly is a meditative, calming experience. Magical. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed attending this beautiful and interesting exhibit on Van Gogh. I'm grateful to have been invited as a Yelp Elite to this event which included wonderful appetizers, cocktails, and Van Gogh swag at the end. Really made my plus-1 and I feel like VIPs so thank you for that. The Yelp add-ons aside, I went to an immersion event in NYC last year so I basically knew what to expect. That one was a show on fractals and it felt like you were inside a kaleidoscope. Beautiful. Like the Van Gogh show, it was also educational... which I really liked. With Van Gogh, most people know some things about him; especially about his ear and suffering from mental illness. One really interesting thing I learned is that Vincent painted Starry Night from his window while he was institutionalized. A lot was presented about his close relationship with his brother who was a great supporter of Vincent and his art and who is credited with sharing/preserving so much history of the artist through their letters. For this educational info alone, I recommend going to this showing. Then, of course, there was the viewing of the art. There was something magical about hearing the music of Don McLean's ''Starry, Starry Night'' while being surrounded by larger- than-life images of the art that inspired the song. When you go to a museum and are lucky enough to see one or two original Van Gogh paintings, it is really special. At this event, though you weren't looking at originals, you got to see collections of his art, like his many self-portraits, side-by- side. I guess I never realized there were so many self-portraits. I also learned that Vincent couldn't afford to pay for models, so he painted himself and people he knew in life. I didn't time the loop of the images projected on walls and floor, but I'd guess it lasted about 45 minutes. After a while, we were keeping alert for people vacating the few benches that were there so we could sit down. Note: there was a lot of movement in the images, especially upon entering the immersion space, so it's easy to get a little dizzy. My only disappointment with this event was when I found out the price of the tickets. Perhaps there are costs in presenting the work of a master artist over fractals, but the price was nearly double. I just wish it was a little more affordable to allow more people the opportunity to enjoy the experience.

Vincent Van Gogh. One of the planet's premier artists. His style is very distinctive. Once you've seen a few of his paintings, others jump right out at you. Doesn't matter the subject. You know it's a "Van Gogh". This immersive experience was one not to miss. If you miss it in ABQ, it is a traveling exhibit. Check out their website and head to their next destination. Standing in the Exhibit Hall with photographs changing into paintings, the movement of his brush strokes and the feeling of his world all were very powerful. Visitors were in awe. I was in awe . . . as paintings moved across the walls, pillars and floor. Far better than one painting at a time. It was fascinating to see the connections and movement in his work. Thank you Yelp for providing this wonderful opportunity. Thank you Destiny, ABQ Yelp Community Manager.

This was a great experience this evening. The experience viewing the amazing art with music was a great experience. The way you flow through really gives you the full experience.

Wonderful experience! The highlights were the last part of the experience where everything was immersive...moving...with background music. Very cool! Thank you Yelp, Destiny and Van Gogh exhibits for making this experience available to those of us in ABQ!

Wow! This event was just so colorful and informative. I thought I knew a bit about Van Gogh but I learned so much this evening. There is a curator here that filled my husband and I on such more than I knew. Her perspective was appreciated. She gave us some insight on Van Gogh that I never thought about. When you first arrive there is signage about about his life. Quotes, thoughts, information as you work your way through the queue. Once inside the main exhibit you'll find yourself immersed in art work. Sketches, drawings, and painting techniques from Van Gogh's early years, influences and time periods of his life. I've seen many of his works in Los Angeles and hubby has in New York but this event encompasses all his work at once. You see in in front of you, projected on the floor and kind of 3D. Overall, this experience was great. For families, the young ones might do well with 1 hour inside because artwork cycles about that long. I enjoyed myself. Thanks Destiny for this Elite event.

I've been wanting to go to one of these for awhile and was ecstatic to hear it made its way to Albuquerque, finally! It's a place you should experience at least once. Absolutely fun for all ages and THE perfect photo op! It's also a pretty quick walkthrough but once you get to the "good part" you won't want to leave!

Wow, Outstanding experience! Van Gogh's story and the immersive experience with music and the painting coming to life is something I will remember for some time. I throughly enjoyed this exhibition. I you are thinking about attending you will not regret it. I highly recommend it, I really enjoyed myself.

Van Gough comes to life in this huge room with a constant change of famous works of art stretched out into monster size murals on the floors and walls. There is maze before you enter the main room with quotes and some background history. There are a few benches scattered around. They could do with a few more places for people to sit while the murals constantly change around the room. It was a fascinating recreation of this master's art works. Thanks for sharing this special e with me.

Beyond Amazing!!! My friend and I attended the evening of 3/1 thanks to Yelp. I got a cute canvas tote bag with the sunflower print, a magnet, a lanyard and key chain - all with beautiful Van Gogh prints. The appetizers were very tasty and the wine was amazing. Now for the exhibit - breathtaking. I felt like a child just gazing in awe and the beauty. Big shout out to community manager Destiny for putting this together PS - Starry Night was my favorite

I was so excited to see this exhibit was coming to Albuquerque and got to experience it last night. I was not disappointed! The photos tell the story so much better than any words can describe. Every surface of the gallery is covered in Van Gogh's work--it surrounds you and creates such an immersive experience. Set to music and subtly changing, the paintings come to life. Some of the animation gives viewers a sense of what it's like to be an artist creating a piece-- starting with black and white line drawings and adding color to bring a painting to life. This was the second time seeing an immersive Van Gogh exhibit. I first went in Paris and was blown away by the experience. Because the venue in Albuquerque is so much bigger, there's an entire room leading into the main gallery dedicated to telling Van Gogh's story. Fun fact: he painted so many self portraits because he was too poor to afford to hire models. He's quoted describing himself as lower than the lowest. It's fascinating to think about his position in society and his perception of his worth and compare it to how he's impacting millions of people 140 years later. If you're even the slightest Van Gogh fan and are open to seeing 2D art transformed into a 3D experience, I recommend checking this out before it leaves!
