Great art and a great frame shop. I often conclude that the Weems Gallery has the best art work representing New Mexico artist.

I recently purchased two pieces of fine-art paintings on canvas. I saw the pieces online and knew what I was looking for when I walked into the Weems gallery on Wyoming for the first time. I looked around for a few minutes and found my pieces. The price was right as they were on sale. So, I purchased them. I was happy to own these beautiful works of art, but my experience with the woman who condescended me left a bad taste in my experience there. She treated me with no more respect than as though I were an ignorant gorilla seeking to purchase something that was above my unrefined, know-nothing inabilities. All I wanted to do was make my purchase and leave quickly, as her contempt towards me for my not having a doctorate in contemporary fine art was palpable. To the very end, she disregarded my concern about wrapping the one-thousand-fourteen-hundred-dollar paintings, dismissing my inquiry because they were sale items. I used to love Weems. Not so much since it sold & they moved. Part of it is that the founder is gone - sad, but by itself not a reason to mark them down, because change is inevitable. Why I mark this store down now is the way I was treated when I went in for the first time since COVID. The best descriptor is "with indifference", which was hurtful for this longtime customer. The clerks seemed more interested in relating to each other than with me, the customer. And in telling me that my several gift certificates collected during COVID (& not used then because I am high covid risk) would no longer be honored. Not done very sympathetically! Altogether a negative & disappointing experience. I told those who usually get me a Weems gift certificate not to do that in the future. read more

I had an issue with this place (the frame shop), -- they did however resolve it professionally. They may need to train their staff on a few business/framing "must do's". I also feel there is a degree of complacency by senior staff and management, and may sub-consciously cater to specific zip code clientele. read more

This is one of my favorite art galleries of all time. I live in Tucson and travel to Albuquerque a few times per year to visit family, so I have been going to Weems for years. I have bought many pieces of art from Weems. I find that Weems has great prices and a wide selection of really really good (great) artists. I have attended Artfest in the past and some of their great sales! I noticed that there were a couple of negative reviews due to staff. I have never experienced any problems and have always been totally delighted with everyone there. Now - Weems is a great place for GIFTS! If you are looking for something that is unique and not wanting to get your spouse something like a vacuum (just kidding) or an instapot (not kidding) that they will LOVE then this is the place. SO - what I have done in previous years is visit Weems with my spouse and see what they like...then snap a quick picture with my cell phone. Being out of state, I would then call into Weems when I get home. They would pull the piece, take it down the complex to the UPS store and next thing I know it is home! Major points for me!! Overall - this is a great place. I will continue to stop in a few times per year when I visit Albuquerque!! read more

My mom suggested we visit Weems to see the new art work. They had a wide range of artistic styles from traditional southwest to modern works. In the back they had pottery. I'm a potter as a hobby and loved the different style of pieces. The real reason I am writing this review is the staff. They did a an excellent job of letting us know we they were available if we needed anything and giving us the space to enjoy the art work. Most people do not realize how delicate this balance is. Weems staff pulled it off. I hope their buyer continues to expand the variety of works. Next time I have out town guest I will be taking them to Weems to show off what Albuquerque has to offer. I just picked up the last of about 9 pieces of artwork I had framed at Weems Gallery and I am BEYOND delighted with every single one of them. The staff took tons of time with me, worked with me until I was happy with everything we had picked out and had great suggestions that I wouldn't have thought of without them. They were helpful, patient and extremely knowledgeable and creative. The quality of the framing was, in my opinion, consistently excellent across all 9 pieces. If you have something you care about you should get it framed here. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. We've had about 15 prints done here over the years and only one was done incorrectly. They fixed it immediately with no argument and when they finished it was perfect. They also have a really great selection of pottery and other items that are perfect for gifts. read more

Overall, the service is friendly, but the quality of their framing is too inconsistent for a high-end frame shop. I've had several pieces framed here over the past two years, spending thousands of dollars. Usually the quality is great. But two jobs in particular have forced me to find a more consistent option. On one job, I had a large print framed. It cost $550, which is a lot, but reasonable given the size of the frame. When I picked it up, they used the wrong color of mat. They also pieced it together from smaller mats, which I specifically told them not to do. They redid it, but when I picked it up, I noticed they reused the backing the mat was attached to. You couldn't see from the front, but the back is crumpled and looks unprofessional. I later noticed they dirtied the edges on the print, probably by storing it in an old sleeve. The error on the mat color was easily fixed, even if they cut corners to save on the cost. But the damage to the print probably can't be reversed. I wasn't going to go back after this experience, but given that they had framed about 10 other pieces without any problems, I decided to give them another chance. The next two pieces were fine. Then I had another print framed and ran into more problems. The frame was filthy when I went to pick it up. There were smudges all over the frame and glass. I told the lady helping me it wasn't a big deal as long as it wasn't inside the frame. When she cleaned it, there were smudges all over the inside of the glass. They took it apart, cleaned it and delivered it to my work to save me the trip. But considering how much work I've given them and how much money I've spent in their shop, this was too much. For the prices they charge, there's no excuse for being sloppy and careless with their work. read more

Extremely poor customer service. My Husband and I came to this store with the intention of purchasing a gift for a friend. Within minutes of browsing, a washed up, rude and wrinkled old woman dressed as if she came from the circus approached us yelling "you need to get out" over and over again. When I asked why and if we still needed to get out even if we were buying for a friend she said yes. Although the doors were open and people were in the gallery, she made a point to tell us to get out even though we were just shopping and minding our own business. No hello, no thank you for coming in, zero class. We had picked out a gift for our friend but unfortunately due to this woman's poor attitude toward us there was no way we were going to reward it with a purchase. We have frequented high end galleries across the country where they actually know what good service is and have something to be proud of and have never been treated as poorly as we were here. Weems needs to look at themselves and who they employ as their attitude towards customers is anything but first class. read more

Amazing customer service! Visiting from CA and the manager of the frame sho and the artistic guy (sorry I don't remember your name) were so incredibly helpful even tho they weren't going to frame my print there. They helped me find just exactly the matting I had been wanting. Just wanted to say how much I appreciated that! I will definitely be doing biz with these people in the future And that the owner showcases young undiscovered artists is awesome!
