new to town and was looking for a new place to get clothes altered (my grandmother was a seamstress and i like my clothes to fit right). checked it out based on the good reviews with my items and they said they could do my alterations but they were working on a wedding dress fitting so requested i schedule a consultation for the following week. i did and when i came back, the manager was quite cold during my fitting. she also claimed one of the alterations i wanted was physically impossible based on the double seam, i knew this was wrong and she simply didn't want to do it, and i had it successfully done with another tailor in town. i did have them alter another item (a simple downsizing) and it seems like they barely made an alteration at all. i'm unhappy with the result and am getting it re-altered elsewhere. the owner was super nice and i think they may prioritize wedding dresses and gowns as it seemed like they give those projects lots of care, maybe just not into actually sewing whatever though! read more

I had many of my own clothes (jackets, dresses) altered at Sew Whateva along with my wedding dress. Deb and her team are fantastic and quick! My wedding dress was overall very simple and didn't have any lace or any details on it. They were able to get my main alterations done within 2 weeks. Then did a second fitting to see if any additional alterations were needed and added on the bustles. This took 1 week and the dress was ready at my third and final fitting! (Again the quick turn around time was really just because my dress is very simple. It might take longer if my dress had more intricate details/ lace). It might be on the pricier side in terms of cost as they charge by the hour, but I think the quality of their work is worth the cost. The final cost wasn't surprising to me -- I did expect a certain cost for wedding dress alterations and it was actually a bit lower than what I expected. Overall, I was really happy and pleased with how my wedding dress turned out! I will still continue to use them for my future alterations. read more

I went to Sarah about six months in advance of my wedding (because that's how long they were booking out in Chicago where I got my dress) and she told me to come in a month before the wedding so we scheduled a fitting then. My dress needed to be taken in about two sizes and shortened a bit as well which was the tough part because of the intricate lace. About a week later she had most of it done and wanted me to do a fitting for the bottom again and for the bustle. Everything was so perfect and she did an incredible job with the lace on the bottom. No one could notice it was hemmed at all which was impressive! I would go to her with anything I ever wanted tailored again without hesitation. Amazing work! read more

Deborah has done multiple fully custom from scratch pieces for me from a bikini and theme wear for a fitness competition to a custom designed wedding dress. All absolutely PERFECT and wonderfully made. Deborah is beyond talented and gifted in what she does. Best in the state and no one can touch her. She also did all my bridesmaid dresses and many of my friends wedding dress alterations. She has also done many alterations as well for me. Noting is too simple and nothing is to hard. Extremely overpriced, with long wait times. I can only compare to past experience at other shops. First experience at Sew Whateva (Sept 2019) I had two nice shirts altered. After years in law enforcement I like my clothes to fit neat, even regular clothes. The shirts came out good, but was surprised at the cost and long (4-5 weeks) lead time. Upon arrival, one shirt wasn't even done, so they pulled it off the rack and did it real quick. Next visit May 2020, I bring in three pair of shorts. Lead time 5-6 weeks. Price tag a whopping $120! They claimed it took very long to complete the work and hourly rate is high. Few months later, out of disparity I brought in another shirt and they wanted around $65. This time I called the owner directly and complained. For reference, I had a shirt altered across the freeway at Men's Wearhouse, last minute and they did it for me in 10 minutes! Cost was $12! In California, I've had up to six uniform shirts/pants altered, with new patches sewed on for around $180. And it only took 7 days! I was given an excuse about COVID, and somehow the work they do with the "film industry" kept coming up. read more

The work was excellent on the dress however the price was exorbitant (alterations cost more than the dress to bring up the hem and bring the body in at the bust) compared to other tailoring I've had done for bridesmaid dresses. After having another shop butcher the alteration on a nice sport coat, I brought it here and she showed me what wasn't right. A week later, it was perfect! Upon picking the sport coat up, she mentioned that she specializes in leather work. A little while later I brought my $1500 leather motorcycle racing suit that had been damaged in a crash. Fantastic! I needed a dress hem shortened for an event on the weekend. I went by the reviews on several places here on yelp. I called them on Monday afternoon and needed it by Friday. They got me in for the fitting that afternoon to make the alteration and left my gown there, confident that it would be ready by the weekend. The dress was ready by Tuesday!! I've never had to get anything altered before so I was a little nervous. Plus it was a formal dress and I'm just so insecure in dresses. My total was $95, $75 for the hem because it was a double layer dress plus $15 for a rush fee because I needed it in a week and I got it right on time! They did an amazing job on repairing a leather jacket that was flaking. The whole upper section of the back needed to be replaced with new material. They did a flawless job and restored it so it looked like nothing ever happened.
