The place has changed. More pedicure girls on a Friday but they pay no attention to their customer. They just sit there, do the pedicure, and speak Spanish. The nail girls, the same exact thing but they speak Korean. So rude. The only saving grace they have left is Jessica. She is excellent, friendly, pays attention to the customers sitting in front of her, and talks to them. She's the only reason they are getting two stars. I stopped in for a regular manicure 15 minutes before closing on a Monday night and they took me without a problem! This is a clean, well-kept salon with a competent sweet staff. The owner is fantastic. She is like their quality assurance inspector. She will check your nails before you leave to make sure they were done correctly and if there is ANYTHING unacceptable she will have it redone. I normally don't rate nail salons because 90% of the time I have a pleasant and satisfying experience. Even if it is an unsatisfactory experience in terms of the actual service, normally I'll chalk it up to the establishment having a different nail polishing technique, etc. However with Beyond Nails in Lyndhurst NJ, I feel like I would be doing a disservice by not sharing my experience. I have never felt so embarrassed, insulted, disrespected and belittled at any salon in the country. The minute I walked in I felt a really weird vibe. Everyone stared at me but didn't say a word. I looked at one of the nail techs and gave her a look that suggested I didn't just come in there to survey their decor. She gave me a look that said what do you want? I said I'd like a manicure and pedicure. Despite the weird looks I walked over to the polish shelf and grabbed my color. I then stood there and waited for someone to come over. A woman sitting motioned for me to sit down at her booth. She did not speak, she did not say hello, she did not even smile. I felt uncomfortable to say the least but I let her do what she had to do. She started speaking Korean (possibly a different language - not sure) and started taking off my polish. She then handed me off to the worker who was sweeping the floors. She motioned for me to go over to the spa station for my pedicure. Alternately she (the Mexican girl, not sure of her name) was very friendly. She did what most people at nail salons do which is smile, say hello and proceed in an inviting manner. She didn't do the greatest job on my feet but I felt like, for one, she is obviously the friendliest worker at this salon, and two, at $20 for a mani/pedi, you can't expect luxury treatment. So I tried to keep the criticism at bay. No one ever brought her my polish that I gave the first rude woman who passed me off to her and I then had to ask them to bring her my polish to actually paint my nails. I've never experienced anything like this. It was truly the coldest nail salon experience I'd ever had, and as the evening progressed it just worsened and worsened. When she finished with my feet, they motioned for me to go over to a third woman at a booth. I sit down at her and I received the repeat treatment from the first woman. She absolutely would not acknowledge me, no smile, no greeting, nothing. At this point I just want her to finish so I can leave this awful place. She proceeds to do a half ass job on my manicure, as if she doesn't even want to touch my hands. But the confirmation of what I already expected was received when I asked her three times to cut my nails even. The third time I asked her she had an attitude and was clearly disturbed saying "yeah I cut". She then starts speaking Korean under her breath. I then ask "is there a problem". She starts going off. Her boss comes over and makes matters ten times worse than they already were at that point. She goes back and forth about how manicures and pedicures are not done after 7:00 to I heard her say she cut your nails down to she barely speaks English to you have an attitude to for you to be educated you sure don't act like it. At this point I am livid. I am not only embarrassed that I'm even having this argument in a professional establishment, but I am embarrassed and further more frustrated that I have to defend myself to the owner, who clearly should be defending me. The owner proceeds to walk away saying all kinds of things like you don't know me, etc etc. I have never felt so discriminated against at a business. This was clearly a case of racial profiling, stereotyping and discrimination. My service was absolutely horrible and I regret patronizing this establishment with my business and stepping foot into this nail salon full of staff and owners that are too ignorant to realize that money comes in all shades.... and mine just happened to be brown smh... I've never had such an rude and unprofessional experience. Apparently if they decide they don't want to do your nails they leave you waiting. I won't say it's racial but I've been here about 3 times over a period of time and the same thing. They seem to push out services for (not white) customers. When I finally had it and got up to leave the woman who was supposed do my nails magically was free. Said she wants to.pay. and told another woman who walked in to sit down. I moved to the area about two years ago and at the time was looking for someone close to home, clean, friendly with reasonable prices. Pros: I like how I can call and make an appointment days in advance or a few minutes before i go. In the event they do have room at that very moment they tell me a better time to walk in. The only person I see is Maria for my pedicures and she never disappoints. Cons: They don't have a wide variety of colors so I started buying my own. Which I don't mind since I can do the touch ups at home. On occasion I have noticed the owner Kathy giving preference and priority on a particular clientele. She is definitely rude to a lot of her consumers. On several occasions I have seen her pull her employees off from lunch/ break to assist the customers while she watches TV (guess that's the perk of being the boss). The only reason I give 4 stars is for Maria. When she leaves I leave too. read more

This cozy, well priced, personal salon sits along Rte 21 within a luxury rental building. Suzy and Jessica are terrific and so nice. Their pedicures and manicures are excellent and they really care for their customers. After 10 manicures, you get one free! Run to this nice salon. read more

I do not recommend this place to anyone. The customer service is very poor. The owners/cosmetologists that I interacted with are not friendly at all. You barely get a hello when you walk in the door. On top of that, they don't have good management skills. You could walk in, ask approximately how long the wait would be for a service, and they will say soon. Forty minutes later, you are still waiting to get a manicure. I do not recommend this place to anyone. There are much better places where you could get the mani-pedi $20 deal without being ill treated. read more

I have been coming here since Kathy opened the place 5 years ago. She is THE CLEANEST NAIL PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!!!! (For the record I've lived in many states/countries) AND I have tried 10+ nail salons in Jersey. I have ALWAYS had a great experience and great prices. Don't even need appointments (except on Friday/Saturday). They used to do facials and they need to bring that back! Oh and, you can put the tip on your card!!!! read more

I have to agree, their attitude makes this place not worth coming back to. I am from South Jersey and those folks down there will take you even if it's 5 minutes to closing. If you walk in here at 6:30pm (they close at 7pm) you'll get dirty looks. I've been grabbed impolitely by the manicurist and one time, I waited so long to be acknowledged for an eyebrow waxing that I got up and left. The place is clean but it's small and often understaffed. I have too say I have been too every nail salon from Harrison too East Rutherford Beyond Nails is the Absolute BEST!!!!! I am a clean fanatic and like my nails too be perfect and Beyond Nails does both!!! (CLEAN & PERFECT nails) Since the day I started going there the owner Kathy has made it feel like home (I can't sit still and use too cringe at the thought of having too sit still) I don't mind going at all anymore not only does Kathy make you feel like family her employees do too.... (although she doesn't call them employees she calls them family it shows you what a nice person she is) I Go too Helen too get my nails done they NEVER break or chip I can go over three weeks (with the gel polish) and not worry.... I have seen other places charging an extra ten dollars if you go over a two weeks... Ughhh I am extremely HAPPY too have a GREAT nails salon too go too.... Every time I go to Beyond Nails they do an amazing job on my nails. Each girl is a true professional when it comes to coloring. I've been coming to Beyond Nails for about two years. I have found in the past 6 months it has really went downhill. Kathy the owner really needs to see what is going on. Jessica was the best for nails and she quit. The Pedicure girls laugh, fool around and I feel like they don't want to be bothered to do my feet. The whole time I feel like they're talking about me for no reason bc I'm pleasant and tip well. For an entire month the air conditioner was broken and it was a sauna in the salon especially in June. Last time I went I waited a full hour to get a pedicure. I am a regular customer however the staff took 3 people ahead of me who walked in later than me for a pedicure. Then it took another hour to get the pedicure so it was a 2 hour ordeal. Today I went and again another customer came in after me and was taken first to get an eyebrow wax. That kinda of stuff really infuriates me. I will be looking for a new salon bc I don't feel like for the money I spend there I am treated as a valued customer. read more
