If you read the owner's response below he does not actually deny their office refuses to see patients who do not wish to have X-rays due to the health concerns related to common overuse. Rather, he becomes highly defensive, dismissing all concerns in all caps saying such a request ensures "an inferior level of care," which he just cannot allow. This is precisely the kind of mentality I was wishing to warn others of -- right there on full display in his own ALL CAPS response. If you do not wish to have X-rays on your first visit - or whenever you choose (not when they choose) - they will refuse to see you. A piece of my molar had broken off due to not visiting the dentist for 10 years I had been brushing my teeth and have a Sonicare toothbrush which really makes a difference. I found out that I just was not going far enough back with my brushing. I was recommended to this dentist by a coworker after getting tired of constantly being bombarded with upsells at other dentist offices. True to her word, she definitely suggested a great place. The whole staff truly feels like a small family - and treat you as such. I've only been there twice, but I know I'll be coming to them for the remainder of my time in the valley. I rarely will take the time to write reviews, but here I am because my experience with Dr Acosta and his staff has been exceptional! It was a Saturday morning and I needed help. I was unable to reach my dentist at the time and started calling around. Dr. Acosta promptly returned my call and rescued me. I'm so glad I found them! The staff is wonderful, very helpful and treat you like family. Dr. Acosta is innovative, (my teeth aren't easy to work with because I am a grinder and he was able to help me). I still need more work done and I will continue to go to Dr. Acosta. I had a cleaning today(visit number 4), and I must say it was one of the most thorough cleanings I can recall having! I am recently new to the area after being gone for about 10 years, so I chose Dr. Acosta because of the great reviews & rating... He and the rest of the staff/practice certainly do live up to the excellent reviews!! I can't emphasize enough just HOW much I dislike visiting the dentist. However, Dr. Acosta and his staff made me feel really confident & comfortable in their care. I am really impressed. Having some bothersome tooth pain, I decided to schedule my annual cleaning & exam with them, too. When I called to make my appointment, the gentleman on the phone was very kind and thorough in gathering information. I ended up having to call back two days later saying my tooth pain could not wait another week, and they were able to squeeze me in promptly that afternoon for Dr. Acosta to take a look and set me up with some relief until we could analyze the damage & take further action. Dr. Acosta and his staff were incredibly helpful & caring. They really treated you like you matter! He was able to find some damage causing the abrupt pain, even went to the effort of showing me and explaining in depth WHY this was an issue and causing my discomfort, along with what may be the best route for treatment. Assured me we would get this taken care of following my comprehensive exam & cleaning. And for someone who reallllllly does not like going to the dentist- for once, I have great peace of mind going back and am very confident in their work & care. I really appreciated being treated so well as a patient, and them taking the time to squeeze me in, knowing that tooth pain can be really awful to deal with. I can't thank them enough or stress just how welcome and taken care of they made me feel. No no and nope! How this place has 5 starts is soooooo beyond me . Do NOT go here . Let's start with the pros the staff was very very nice. That's it ...... on to the cons. This place felt and looked so dirty , outdated and just unorganized . When I arrived they were very busy and overwhelmed one dentist to 5 patients waiting in waiting rooms I understood they had a hectic day. But the service was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The seats were cracking, dirty, had hair on them ewww.....They took xrays, the dentist talked to me for a few minutes about my gums irritating me told me he would prescribe a mouth wash then the nurse told me I was done and sent me to check out. At this point I was so lost and confused never have I had a 2 minute dentist appointment , didn't review my xrays ? Didnt exam my teeth fully . I wasn't there for just my gums I was there for a full dental exam my yearly exam?!! So in a confused daze I went to check out she asked for payment for the xrays and then was sending me on my way. What about my exam? What about my prescription for said mouth wash? So I asked what was going on? Why didn't I get an exam? The dentist was then called back and tried to bring me back again after I was told to check out. I told him I have no interest in using their services and I wanted to leave. I would never let this place as dirty as it looked touch my mouth. I have never experienced a dentist office like this. Rushed in, rushed out, no exam, no review of my xrays , just dirty and chaos . The doctor and the staff were always nice to me. A few days after my last examination a year ago, I noticed one of the teeth Dr. Acosta drilled in my last visit was not filled. It was either never filled or the filling was lost within a few days. I was so busy the whole past year that I got to take care of this only recently! I just moved to Tempe a few months ago and needed to find a dentist because I was due for my six month cleaning. I called Dr. Acosta's office and they got me in the very next day at 6pm which worked out great with my work schedule. I had an amazing experience at this dental office. I saw Dr. Acosta & Dr. Simmons and they were both super friendly and thorough. The staff here are awesome! I felt so comfortable and happy to be there, like I was part of their family. The dentist and staff were all very nice, I feel like my teeth are VERY clean after leaving, and they offer a substantial discount for ASU students and staff. OK. I don't like dentist to begin with. I chose this particular dentist based on these reviews and their location to my job and home. It doesn't look like the greatest place to go to get your chops maintained, but the Dr and his staff make up for it a hundred times over. Dr Acosta is professional, the atmosphere is very casual, I'm not just a chart number to them and they carry on like family which makes me want to laugh while I'm getting my teeth drilled. Do not go here. I came here for a cleaning and I got x-rays done. Usually the dentist will show me on the screen where my cavities are and exactly where they need to be filled. The x-rays were developed in a back room and were not shown to me. I was told I had multiple cavities and I thought it was strange because I had X-rays a year or so ago and was cavity free. I got a second opinion and was told I have absolutely no cavities and so this dentist lied to me. I did some research and dentists can "drill a hole" and refill it so it looks like there was a cavity there when actually there could not have been. After this procedure no one will know that you did not have a cavity. Please do your research and be careful before you trust everything they say. read more

Dr. David Acosta has been our family's dentist for many years. He's done numerous work for my grandmother over the years. Not only does she think the world of him, she refuses to go see anyone else even now, that we live in Tucson and Dr Acosta has his office in Tempe. We commute one and a half hours each way every time we need dental work because we are convinced we will not find a better dentist, a more caring person, a more welcoming staff and a more trustworthy office overall. At 93 years of age, after 20+ years of having full dentures my grandma decided to get mini implants. Naturally, due to her advanced age I was a bit skeptical about the full success of such a procedure. Dr. Acosta took the time to explain everything and reassure us. We felt safe and confident we were leaving her in good hands. I am ecstatic to say that she experienced very little discomfort immediately following the procedure, and now, two weeks later she tells everyone she can eat better than she did when she was 60! She is able to eat apples, steak, and bite off a French loaf. The only regret she speaks off is that she has not done this sooner. Huge thanks go to Dr Acosta and his staff. They have 100% of our trust and respect for the incredible work they do day in and day out. I cannot recommend Dr Acosta highly enough and I will never complain about having to drive to Tempe to see him again! :-) read more

My experience with this dental office has been very positive so far. I called to ask for a same-day appointment as I was eager to have a broken molar removed. The lady I spoke with was very courteous and helpful and got me in. The front office guy was friendly and efficient. The office itself was simple, clean and tidy. (I don't care much for overly fancy offices; they make me wonder how much of what I pay are for the bells and whistles.) The thing that made me really happy was that after Dr. Acosta examined the tooth I was complaining about, he dictated to his assistant to note the problems and refer me to another specialist for RCT and other things. I then explained that I was actually wanting to have it completely removed. I was bracing for a speech on how it's not the best option, etc. but instead he just asked, "Are you sure you want to lose this tooth?" When I said I just don't want to have to think about it anymore, he gladly obliged and took note of the fact that I had already let go of another molar before. He completely respected my wishes and I'm so thankful. I'll be going back for the actual extraction and will update this review IF anything changes my view of this office.
