What images do the words " Root Canal" trigger? Well, you can erase all the negative connotations and replace them with Comfort, Painless, and Calm! I was referred to Superstition Springs Endodontics by my general dentist. I needed a root canal and I am PHOBIC about Novocaine (seriously so!). My dentist assured me that I would be in good hands and that Dr Hale would be sensitive to my needs. So, with a bit of encouragement from the pain in my tooth, I made the appointment with Dr. Hale. I had never met Dr Hale before this visit nor do I know anyone from this dental office. I make this statement because my review may sound too good to be true. Dr Hale messaged my gums as he inserted the dreaded needle for the Novocaine. I waited, I waited. No pain! But then came the roof of my mouth! After kindly and gently prying my mouth open and assuring this grown woman that it would not hurt, he added pressure (I think he used a cotton swap) to the site where he inserted the needle and it was over in a second WITHOUT pain! The procedure was PAINLESS and I must tell you that the three of us (dentist, assistant, and me) had interesting conversations throughout (my input was a bit difficult to understand as I was the one on the chair LOL), making the time pass so quickly that before I knew it, I was cleaned up, sitting up, and ready to go home. I have never written a review before this one. I usually think about it, but a busy life interferes and I never get around to it. I was compelled to write this review to tell others like myself: DO NOT FEAR! This dental office was a positive experience from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. I had an intense issue with one tooth for over 2 years! I had a permanent crown placed on this tooth and after a year had to have it removed and replaced with another crown. I thought I needed a root canal back then, but my dentist told me I didn't. He was wrong. Fast forward, the pain in my tooth slowly and progressively got worse to the point where I could not stand it anymore. I dismally thought that since this tooth went through so much trauma that at this point even a root canal wouldn't help. Nonetheless I did a search on the Internet for top endodontists and came across reviews for Superstition Springs Endodontics and Dr. Hales. I Iiked what I read and saw (see Dr. Hales video) so I called the office. The friendly and empathetic staff got me in to see Dr. Hales on the same day! I was so happy but also very nervous. When I got there, I found the office to be clean, the staff professional and that the doctors use all the latest technology. I was reassured when I met Dr. Hales who told me he could help and save my tooth and crown. Dr. Hales is extremely gentle, is friendly, and has a great demeanor. After my 1st visit (I had 2 visits total), the pain was already gone! After both visits, the office staff called me the next day to know how I was doing. They also gave me Dr. Hales cell phone in case I needed to call him during the night or weekend. I am so glad I went to see Dr. Hales. My experience was amazing, my tooth pain is gone and he saved my tooth when I didn't think it could be saved. I highly recommend Superstition Springs Endodontics. Wow!!! What a wonderful staff!!! Now it makes sense why patients bring them gifts!!! I had to have a root canal done today and was extremely anxious (all weekend) and it was written all over my face! The office personal were so welcoming and calm, I started to feel at ease. Then, they called my name!!! Panic set in! I had a terrible experience at another facility, so I was a LOT uneasy!!! I also explained that I have a high tolerance to Novocain. It does take several shots to numb me enough for ANY procedure. They listened to my concern and realized I was not kidding. ( I mean, who really likes their entire face to be numb for 5 hours? Not me) but it runs in my family and it was explained that being super nervous/anxious can play a roll on how well it works and lasts. Once I was comfortable, the procedure began. I was told what was going on during the entire process plus some small talk was done back and forth. Believe it or not, made me feel better. I am a "SUPER BABY" when it comes to my mouth/teeth! I just can't help that. They made sure I was comfortable the entire time and treated me with respect and didn't make me feel like I was causing a problem. I have to go back in 3 weeks for ANOTHER root canal and know I will be taken care of with kindness. I would recommend them to anyone needing a root canal or any other major dental procedure!!! I was referred to this practice by my DDS when it was determined I needed a root canal. Dr. Hales' office was able to schedule me quickly. All of the front office staff I spoke to in person or over the phone were pleasant and professional; and they answered all my questions thoroughly. The waiting area and treatment rooms are clean and attractive. I was impressed with the quality of the digital X-rays. At my request, Dr. Hales explained all the steps of the procedure in easy to understand language. The administration and monitoring of the nitrous oxide was spot on. I've had a few bad experiences elsewhere where the levels were uneven and caused discomfort so I appreciated this expertise. Dr. Hales has a calming, professional manner. The administration of the numbing agents prior to surgery was skillful. The only discomfort I experienced was the typical - and anticipated - fatigue of keeping ones mouth stretched open for long periods of time. The after care instructions were provided orally and via written instructions that also included Dr. Hales' cellphone number if needed. I'm happy to say I didn't need it. At the front desk I was given a take away bag that included Advil so I could start right away. I would highly recommend this practice and Dr. Hales specifically based on my positive experience. read more

Amazing office. When my daughter was in 1st grade, she had fallen in PE class and broke off the bottom half of one of her top front teeth. Dr Jason Barney was able to reattach the bottom of the tooth, make it look nice, and make it strong enough to be able to function just like normal! Dr Barney was so great in following up, and explaining how he wanted to make sure the tooth kept growing and the root could fully form since he said that was really important to be able to implement the more permanent solution later, once she was grown enough, of a root canal, bleaching, and crown/veneer. Well, the tooth broke again about 3 years later (bumped it on her violin case!), and we were able to get right in, and Dr Barney again reattached the tooth like new! Another 3 years later, post braces and wearing retainer, the tooth broke again! And once again, we got right in, and Dr Barney reattached the tooth, again like new! We are now about a year from being able to implement that permanent solution. But I just can't say enough about Dr Barney's skills, his kindness, and his willingness to explain and take time to answer questions. Not to mention his staff, all of whom have been so kind and helpful over the years, always willing to listen and fit us in. If you ever need a tooth saved, this is the place to go! read more

I have been to many dentists in my life! They have not been the greatest. I know this because I have extreme anxiety and have had really terrible experience with them. Today I was treated by Dr. Hales and it was a completely different experience. While I did have anxiety at the beginning of the procedure, a root canal, before he started any work, he ensured that I was comfortable, he explained things clearly and he was very pleasant. I did not experience any pain or discomfort, other than the pinch of the syringe when administering the anesthesia. I was awake for this procedure and found myself relaxing as he worked on me. He explained everything before, during and after the procedure and was very attentive to my fears and anxiety. My favorite thing was that they used a silicone shield around the tooth and mouth, which prevented me from experiencing and discomfort with the terrible taste or swallowing during the procedure. In fact I tasted absolutely NOTHING!! It was an incredible experience. I would highly recommend him and will absolutely be utilizing him for future work. I'd be writing a novel if I wrote about my entire experience with Kim and Dr. Barney. I will try and keep things short for the sake of the reader. I was recommended to come to this office for a route canal by my family dentist. I thought it odd that my own dentist would refer me out for a route canal, but I'm so glad she did. This office is modern, beautiful, and conveniently located off the 60. I completed all of my new patient paperwork on an office iPad and it was super convenient. Kim and Dr. Barney are super professional, very polite, and make you feel completely at ease. They went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and did not feel any pain. They communicated everything that was happening, what to expect, and what to do after. I really appreciated this thorough communication and care they provided. I had a root canal done today with Dr. Kayafas and Tyler, his assistant. Let me first just say I was dreading having it done. Not that anybody wants to have a root canal, but I am a dental professional and I felt very self-conscious about needing to have one done. The front office staff were so welcoming more than accommodating- just so kind. Dr Kayafas has such a calming and kind demeanor. I felt confident in his treatment recommendation and it was performed quickly and absolutely without pain- including getting injections! He reassured me that I did not need to be self conscious and that he was glad I was getting it taken care of. And I believed him! Tyler was great, too. He was very personable and professional. My experience far exceeded my expectations and put all my worries to rest. Would highly recommend them to anyone. Dr. Barney is the best! If you are looking for someone to see go with him! He is first class and is one of those people that when you meet him, you know you are in good hands. He is very knowledgable and will answer any question you might have. Dr. Barney's expertise and quality of his work is hands down the best you will receive. Every time my family dentist sees my post-root canal x-rays, he comments on how well they looks and the quality of work done and he has never even met Dr. Barney! The staff at Dr. Barney's office is also great. They are very kind and helpful. His office is clean and professional. Today was my first visit to the Superstition Springs Endodontics Office. I was extremely elated and amazed in the professionalism and services I received. No one likes a Root Canal, least of all me. However, if you must undergo this procedure then this is the absolute best place to go, and Dr. Tonioli is the man to see. I had no pain or discomfort during the entire process, and I find this exceptional because I unfortunately have undergone several Root Canals in the past and have never had such great service as this. His assistant Miss McKenna was very caring and conscientious in the performance of her duties. She consistently ensured that I was comfortable and was experiencing no issues, while Dr. Tonioli performed and narrated the procedure. Had my first root canal ever on Tuesday. I opted to do it in spite of my swearing I would never have it done. (orthodontia and the desire for straight teeth lost me a few molars, so I could not afford to lose another tooth to extraction ) I felt no pain, except for the off key singing of my endodontist as he and his assistant sang in warbling harmony to ABBA's greatest hits. Since I embarrassingly love ABBA too, I could only imagine the view the endodontist had as I attempted to sing along with my mouth open like a clam on the bottom of the ocean. Sadly, I have to go back sometime at the end of July because I have a sneaky root that decided "F this killing jar...I am OUTTA here!" and decided to hide. Maybe I should bring along my Gordon Lightfoot "Greatest Hits" CD to counter ABBA........it might be too dangerous to bring the Bee Gees. read more
