These guys are painless and you walk out feeling great, within 2 hours the numbing wears off and you don't have any pain. it's almost too good to be true and they are quick with their very professional staff. I was sent to Dr. Baker at the Gilbert office as referral from my primary dentist. I went in for a root canal, that he quickly realized I didn't need, instead I needed a bone graft and extraction and implant and that I was extremely infected into my sinuses. The infection caused me to go in the early stages of sepsis yesterday evening he prescribed me an antibiotic and steroids and check in on me multiple times monitoring my health. He also ensured that I was able to get into an oral surgeon the next in order to have the tooth extracted. He called again to check on me after. He went above and beyond and restored my faith in dentists. I would recommend to anyone! read more

They were incredibly kind, professional, and patient with me -- and I was a very nervous, trembling patient who's definitely not a fan of dental procedures. I was assigned there by my provider. I walked in to the Gilbert office and no one greeted me for about 15 minutes, even tho I was the only patient there. It's just rude. They took me back and told me they only had permission to do one tooth, the wrong tooth. I expected him to let me leave and come back when the paperwork got straightened out, but they started doing other stuff even tho I resisted, x rays, temp tests, that would not be covered by my provider. When I kept telling them not to do things that I did not come for, they wouldn't stop. Him and his assistant trying/using distraction to keep me from leaving, we only want to do this..........and that. I had to make them let me out of the chair and take the bib off. Like being sold a used car I didn't want. I felt coerced and forced to stay. I wouldn't go back there, ever. read more

My regular dentist recommended Apex due to me needing a root canal retreatment. I was in a lot of pain and was told over the phone the next available appointment was 2 weeks out. I told the receptionist I'd take the appointment but if anyone canceled or something opened up I'd gladly take it. She ended up calling me an hour or so later and asked if I could come to this location asap. I of course agreed and had my consultation. The Dr did some tests and ended up doing the entire procedure that day. I expected to have to come back but I'm so grateful they were able to get me in and treated. Overall the entire experience was great considering the amount of pain I was in but it was fast and as painless as possible and everyone I came in contact with at the office was super nice and friendly. read more

I actually went to this office for a second opinion but I decided to go with Dr. Banfield because he really took the time to understand my needs and concerns. I needed a Apicoectomy Surgery and a new root canal. I was very nervous for this procedure and he walked me through it multiple times and made me feel safe throughout the procedure. Cost was definitely another concern and he made sure to do these procedures in the most cost effective way. I actually had called and wanted to go to the Mesa location, but this location had same day availability so that was why I ended up here. I found it by researching online on who did gentlewave and who had good recent reviews. Location was easy to find. There's parking available. Walked in and was slightly confused as there are two doctor offices with doors. Go to the one on the right. Checked in at my appointment time and the lady asked me to fill out some paperwork on the tablet and asked if it was my first time and asked for a photo ID and insurance info and confirmed my estimated cost. Form was easy to fill-out except the screen protector made it a little difficult to tap, but it worked. Finished and gave tablet back and asked to use the restroom, which is to the left of the receptionist. Fully stocked toilet paper and paper towels--as in a little hard to pull to use, but better that than not having any lol. They have little cups and a dispenser for mouth wash. Sat back in reception area and was called to the back. She took some Xrays and they were able to use the 3D X-rays I had done at another doctor's office so that saved me some money, but note, this place was about half the cost for the same X-ray so I wish i had done that here! Gave my referral form for that other office and she was curious why I decided not to go there and I just said I wasn't comfortable at the other place and decided to go here. She was really nice and calm. Dr. Mortenson was my doctor. I needed a root canal and it's my first one ever. He did an initial consultation and then gave me options to do the procedure and I was like yep, thats what I'm here for. He did end up doing gentlewave on me since he had to go in pretty deep. I told him in the past, doctors had to use extra numbing on me so he gave me three shots and I didn't feel a thing other than the pinch of the needles and then pressure when applying the temporary filling. Otherwise, I felt NO pain. I've heard such horror stories about root canals that I was really prepared for pain, but nope. Didn't hurt during, after, or here I am 24 hours later. Unbelievable!!! I thought it was pretty cool how you could literally watch the work being done cuz there's like a reflective mirror so I could see him opening a hole, drilling, filling it with stuff, covering, etc. He was polite, calm, cool, and collected. Mostly explained what he was doing as he was doing it. Asked me before and after if I had any questions/if he answered all my questions. Told ME I did a great job after lol. He was really good, precise, and gentle. Very matter of fact. Gave me pain medications to pickup at my local pharmacy. If I had to get a root canal again, I would go to Dr. Mortensen again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others:) read more

Prior to service, spoke with staff about handling of payment, which they insist on having in advance of service regardless of the fact client was referred but regular dentist. Payment, in full, was made for entire service AND THEN insurance billed. At that time was told our payment would be credited back to account from where it was drawn. Two weeks later still no credit to correct account but they show payment from insurance company has been received. Patient asks for correct resolution, told they can speak following day. No communication although staff (not person that handles checks/accounting/payables) insists she herself did call. Same person that can not resolve issue, can not do anything but make excuses about charges to run a credit card and then charges to credit back to credit card. All this after the long hold and person just left on vacation explanation. read more

I can only speak positively about this office, both Mesa and Gilbert location. They were able to schedule a same-day appointment for our son at their Mesa location and arranged a root canal within about a week and a half. However, due to the severe pain he was experiencing overnight, they managed to fit him in within 2 hours at their Gilbert office this morning. The staff is incredibly kind, caring, and professional. I had a conversation with Delayna, who went above and beyond to help us get him in as soon as possible. Both Dr. Baker and Dr. Mortensen were fantastic, with excellent bedside manners. this office in Gilbert is just rude and have a attitude for no reason and just read a review before mine and they had similar issues it's sad I'm not the only person they treat like this, if you are miserable don't work with customer service PERIOD. Front desk was very cold and curt in person. I went into the office to make an appointment and this lady with dark hair who was older behind the right side was very snappy. I asked who I should speak to about making an appointment and she snapped there are three calls waiting and we are SHORT handed. Then she said "sit down" and we will call you up when we can. It's not so much what she said but her tone of voice. No way I can imagine her demeanor will improve so I left and will not go there again. I instead asked my dentist for a different referral and I'm going to another office with a different attitude up front. Nobody should put up with attitude like that. If only the doctors would have hear her I'm sure they wouldn't like their patients treated that way. read more

Check-in: Someone was ahead of me at check-in, so Anielka took me on the side and she was so nice and friendly! Check-in was quick and easy with their fancy tablets to input patient information. Root canal: I received mine from Dr. Baker (and Belinda, dental assistant) who was great! I've gotten a lot of dental work done and I feel like this was the least amount of pain I've felt when getting injected!! We did a 3D X-ray which I believe helped Dr. Baker do my root canal more successfully, as it showed one of my root split in 2. I loved how he went over everything! Afterwards: It's been almost a week now and no issues with the root canal. My tooth feels great and I'd definitely come back to him, if I needed another one. Let's face it, no one likes going to the dentist. I had been referred to Apex Endodontics after a root canal from another provider had resulted in an very bad tooth and gum infection. Obviously, this was not ideal but the office made the best of it. They were very efficient with my care, cost efficient, and time savvy. I was in pretty bad condition, to the point where I could have lost three front teeth (this infection festered in the matter of a few weeks). Dr. Nathan Baker and his staff was phenomenal, he explained everything in best case and worse cased scenario in plain English, he prescribed an antibiotic which did its job and forced the infection out so the teeth can heal and within a few weeks the infection was able to be drained and subsided saving the teeth with nothing more than a follow up in a year. Just for comparison, the other option was to cut the gums open and remove the bad tissue then allow that to heal, so this was an amazing option. They were also reasonably priced regarding their office visits, I went there 3 times and it was less than $200. Dr. Baker has some of the best bedside manner of any Doctor I have worked with and has his focus on the care of his patients. I would highly recommend this office. Keep in mind that in many of their reviews they are dealing with people like me who already have been worked on by other dentists and they step in and take over the healthcare. This office also does root canals in the event you want a fool proof plan to get such a major treatment completed. read more

I have only had one root canal before many many years ago. I had to have it redone due to it getting infected. My Dr was Ethan Baker. I also arrived for a consult and the front desk assumed I was just going to go through with the procedure. The evaluation seemed rushed but after I was sure, everything went great. Nathan knows you cant talk yet he will tell stories and talk to keep you comfortable. That was a nice change from other Dr's who are completely quiet. He also seems to say what he is doing next to keep you informed. While the initial arrival was rocky, it all went well and ended well. I would go back. read more

After my first review, Dolores contacted me from Apex. Ultimately they gave me a full refund which was not at all expected, but appreciated for the troubles. The communication was handled via Yelp messages, but she was polite and professional. :-) I would have much preferred to deal with this without using social media but when I attempted I was unsuccessful. I am thankful though they did respond. I had been to Aspen Dental in Casa Grande and they had told me they couldn't figure out which tooth was bothering me. The Apex people said, "How soon can you get here?" Dr. DeBaker sent me here for an assessment, but they seemed more concerned about hitting me up for money to pay for a root canal BEFORE they even did the assessment to determine whether or not I should get a root canal in the first place. This is obviously a place of business where their first priority is maximizing the money they extract from each patient and NOT what is in the patient's best interest! Once I got in the dentist's chair, the Dr. came in and convinced me that I needed another root canal. Wham, bam and 30 minutes later I was out of the chair and paying the bill... I only went here for an assessment! Anyways, I think the Doctor who worked on me did a great job, was very skilled and highly efficient, plus he got a second opinion from one of the other doctors... But, make no mistake, this practice is a money generating enterprise with little concern for their patient's best interests. The receptionist reminds me of a mafia bill collector! read more

I have had two root canals here, one a scheduled revision and one in an emergency. I must say the staff are incredibly understanding and helpful during this painful process. The doctors have great bedside manners and do amazing work. They helped save my tooth that was mangled by a dentist previously. I was referred by my dentist to have 2 or 3 root canals done & I put it off for a month. I woke up with excruciating pain, called Apex and had an appointment for the next morning. From the minute I walked in, everyone was very kind. I knew I had a chance of needing all 3 root canals done & was so grateful I could have it done that day. I took full advantage of the nitrous oxide & the 2 hour appointment was pain-free. I was given pain meds and antibiotics & reassured if I needed anything, to call 24/7. I have an appointment in 2 weeks for the re treatment to be completed. I received a call from the office the next day to check on how I was feeling. I appreciated their kindness every step of the way. I hope to never need another root canal, but if I do, I know where I'm going! read more

I had my first root canal in my life here just today. I must say I was terrified and the oral surgeon and assistant that took care of me made me feel very comfortable and pain free. Along with a lot of the other reviews on here, I have an issue with their payment. Before I went in, my dentist didn't know for sure what tooth it was and whether or not I would even need a root canal. But right up front, they were trying to say that I would have a 200 dollar payment due before leaving. As it turned out, I only owed 45 because it was a different tooth than they originally thought and the job wasn't as hard to do as it would have been on the other tooth. I just wish they would have known the whole story first before telling me I was going to owe a total of 259 when in fact I only ended up owing 45. If you do go here, just be very careful to watch out for sneaky payment collection. read more
