Went in for a teeth cleaning (first visit to Arizona Advanced Dental) and at the end of the cleaning Casey Cutler told her she needed 8 crowns at a cost of almost $15K. This was the first time a dentist told her she needed a crown, much less 8 of them, so we decided to obtain opinions from other dentists. Two other dentists performed an examination and reviewed X-rays taken by Arizona Advanced Dental and both were shocked by Cutler's "professional recommendation". Not only did both dentists confirm she did not need a crown, both dentists were at a loss of words for how or why Cutler could possibly recommend 8 crowns. Cutler is either completely incompetent and/or highly unethical. In my opinion, he is knowingly telling his patients they need crowns, when in fact they do not. read more

BEWARE!!! SCAM ARTISTS!!! My dental hygienist had left the industry to be a stay at home mom and I was looking for a new one. I was referred here by a family member. The hygienist that she recommended I use was not available so they set me up with Vy. Everything seemed to go rather smoothly at first. she was pleasant and did all the basic exams and x-rays. The next thing I know she's telling me that I need a "deep cleaning". I know that at one point in the past I had a notch above a basic cleaning which I thought was a deep cleaning because I had missed several cleanings but this was years ago and since then I've only missed two cleanings in the last year so I found it little bizarre that she would say I need a deep cleaning considering I Had only missed my last two cleanings. But anyway I figured OK maybe I just need to do some thing a little bit more intense than the basic cleaning. We decided that I would come back another day to finish the work. When I was handed my estimate it was about $1200 worth of work. When I researched it with my insurance company it was considered treatment for periodontal disease. When I had a supposed deep cleaning several years ago it was only $90 so I definitely knew something wasn't right. I went ahead and got a second opinion from a different dentist and hygienist who both agreed that I did not need that. I have nothing close to periodontal disease and it sounded like they were going to be trying to provide me with unnecessary treatment. So anybody who visits this place, I would be extremely cautious and make sure that you get a second opinion before you shell out 1000+ dollars for treatment that you might not even need. read more

After horrendous experiences with another dentist (drilling before numb, burning the inside of my mouth during a root canal, breaking the tip of the drill during the same root canal and leaving it without getting out the entire root and not telling me, plus much more) years ago, I've been terrified of dental work. This place has been a life changer! The staff and doctor are beyond caring and gentle. They let me know every step of what they are doing, provided laughing gas with no hesitation or judgement and made me feel cared for. The doctor himself even called me the night following some work (another root canal and a crown replacement) just to see how I was doing physically and mentally. He has an instrument called "the wand" vs a syringe that does an even better job at delivery of numbing medication. I travel from buckeye to Mesa to get my cleanings. Absolutely worth the miles. He's taken excellent care of my husbands teeth which unfortunately require much work. The hygienist I've been assigned to is brook and she is very good as well. Really no need to look further. Please be sure to get a second opinion on the dental treatment plans proposed. Recently, moved to Gilbert and went in for my cleaning and walked out with a treatment plan of $2790.00 dollars!! 2 crowns and seven fillings! I was immediately skeptical, my previous dentist who I had been going to regularly never mentioned the need for so much dental work. So I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Needless to say the second opinion was only one filling needed and no crowns required. The second opinion dentist was surprised that one of the seven fillings was going to be put on a crown! From the first time I came into get my teeth cleaned I was greated by the receptionist by my name. wow, what business does that these days!? Just got through having all 4 quadrants deep cleaned. I had deep pockets and fun bleeding. Brooke was during the whole process. Having gone to her for years, she knows I'm a chicken when it comes to pain. She watched my facial expressions and clenched hands during the whole treatment. Okay-I hate going to the dentist as much as anyone. That's why I have chosen to make it as miserable for them as it is for me. I berate them every chance I get. For example, no matter what, I always wear a red shirt when I go to my dentist. "It's so the blood won't show" , I tell them. If I am feeling particularily naughty I will eat Oreo cookies prior to my cleaning. Afterwards, while looking into a mirror near the technician (and hopefully within ear shot of other patients), I will boast, "Wow you got all the black crud out of my teeth!" Please note; You may substitute a pulled pork sandwich instead. They also have DVD players at each station so you can watch a movie while your teeth are neatly removed. I like to watch "Strangers with Candy" while I am in the chair. This way I can see someone who has way worse teeth than me. Poor Jerri Blank. Bottomline is that they are really nice here. They laugh and have a good time while you are under the lights getting drilled on. All in all, good people and nice office. I have been going to them for almost 20 years! read more

While Dr Cutler was very nice and thorough, I have had a horrible experience with his office since. When I first went to his offices I was given over $20k worth of recommended treatments that they claimed I needed to have done asap. Now be aware I have kept up on my teeth cleanings and fillings and take good care of my teeth. Never before have I been given such a high estimate and such a long list or things I "needed" done. While I didn't agree with all of his recommended treatments, I knew there were a couple things I needed to take care of. I asked for an estimate on just those items and was given a $6000 estimate for my portion of the bill. I knew I wouldn't afford to do all of that right now and tried to work with them to get the most urgent things done, one of which was to re-cement a bridge with a fake tooth in a place I was born without the tooth. I was so taken back by their response to fix this tooth. I was told that the dentist couldn't work out of his treatment plan and it was basically and all or nothing, basically leaving me to decide between using their offered financial loan service or just not have a tooth. I felt very pushed both this time and while I was in his office to making a huge financial decision I wasn't ready to make. I have never had a dentist be so pushy about a particular service or refuse to do a service on my teeth. Needless to say I will not be back to this office and will be sure everyone I know is aware of the experience that I had there. read more

I could not have been more impressed with Dr. Dickson and staff at Arizona Advanced Dental. I called the office on a Thursday morning looking to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Fortunately, they just had a slot open up for the same day so I was able to be seen within hours. After the exam, it was determined a deep cleaning / scaling and root planing should be performed which they were able to do right then and there! Brooke, the dental hygienist who performed the procedure was extremely thorough in explaining what was going on, what I might feel, and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. Everything from the staff to equipment was top notch here. I will not consider going anywhere else from here on out. read more

I have never been compelled to write an online review before. However, after being a patient of Dr. Clifford since January I have been there 4 times since. I must say that Dr. Clifford and his staff are the best! I had planing and root scaling along with my two front teeth bonded to fix a gap. Shelby did an awesome job with the planing and root scaling along with a routine cleaning afterwards. Dr. Clifford fixed the gap in my front teeth perfectly! It's something I wanted done for many years. I was nervous as to what to expect. He surpassed my expectations and has truly changed my life for the better.
