I can't say enough great things about Dr Williams, as he is awesome!! He is kind, gentle and very down to earth. He's excellent at what he does too. He put me at ease on my very first visit! I had to have some very old crowns replaced but he helped me thru my anxiety plus I was offered the laughing gas which really really helped me. My teeth with the new crowns look and feel fantastic!! I have the worst luck when it comes to dental issues. I willingly drive 3 hours to see Dr. Ladd at his office in Mesa because I know the quality of the care I will receive. Today I came in with a throbbing toothache. He was able to do a root canal within minutes of seeing my condition. I will not see another dentist as long as Dr. Ladd is in business. I went to Ladd for four or so years, truly one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. He created problems in my mouth that STILL, three years later, I'm trying to fix. Not to mention, he is unreasonably expensive. He has given me a few fillings and a crown, and every single one of them has given me problems. The crown had me in pain for a solid five months after getting it on. He did nothing to help that, I was taking several ibuprofen and Tylenol a day, with little relief. The fillings fall out after two or so years, eating things like pizza, things that clearly should not cause a filling to fall out. His patient education is frustrating, he talks to you like it's too complicated for you to understand, which gives me the feeling he actually doesn't understand. I have spent so much money trying to fix what he messed up, and experienced so much unnecessary pain. If you're going to go to him for cleanings, fine, the dental assistants do a good job. But if you need actual work done, trust me on this one, DO NOT GO TO LADD WILLIAMS. You will regret it. There is no excuse for such a horrible dentist to still be practicing. read more

I was recommended to Dr. J Ladd Williams by MetLife after I had a bad experience with another dentist. The experience left me nervous to return to the dentist, but Dr. J Ladd Williams and his team made me feel comfortable and at ease. My appointment started with a consultation with the dentist and hygienist to get to know my dental history, what my expectations were and me personally- which was a nice touch. One thing that was very interesting is that I have had marks on my teeth since the time I was a child that no dentist has ever been able to explain to me. The Dr asked me if I had been on heavy antibiotics at age 3, which I had, and explained to me that this was the reason for them and further explained how they form. We were referred to Dr. Williams for an emergency dental need for my husband. I'm so glad we were. The staff was great at communicating and getting us information and medicine, even on a weekend. My first visit with Dr. Ladd was a pleasant one and I weighed approximately 300 lbs. Dr. Ladd and his staff were great and treated me with respect. My mouth was in bad, bad shape and I had not seen a dentist in approximately 8 years. The first initial temporary teeth were great and I could not stay out of the mirror. I continued to look in the mirror and discovered that my teeth were beautiful and so was I. By the time I returned to Dr. Ladd for my permanent teeth I had started a life changing program. I had a healthy mouth and I wanted my body to match my teeth. I wanted my body to look as healthy as my teeth. I started eating properly and exercising on a daily basis. On 1/27/2015, I returned to Dr. Ladd's office for a cleaning and to thank everyone in the office for contributing to my life changing experience. I have lost 40 lbs. and I'm still loosing. The first initial visit to Dr. Ladd and the first initial temporary teeth were the start of my new life. Dr. Ladd and his staff are a great crew. Going to J Ladd Williams DDS is a mistake you will regret. All of the work He has done for me never lasted over a year. From fillings to crowns to root canals to bridges all have been bogus- cheaply done and amateurishly executed. I have wasted so much of my hard earned money on this shaver its a crime. He has caused my mouth more problems than he ever helped. If your mouth is healthy he can probably help you in some way but if you have real dental problems that requires real knowledge and caring, He's way out of his league. You would be better off going to Mexico for dental work if you need any serious work done. He charged me 10,000 dollars just to do some imprints and have some cheap removable dentures for my implants made. These dentures have had to be repaired now 4 times in the last 1 1/2 years (teeth falling off) costing me another 600 bucks. He won't stand behind them or his work- ever. I can't even eat with them now (because they are cracking) for fear of them breaking again and being useless. The specialist that repairs them says they were cheaply made and I need to spend another 3500 to have a quality one made. Ladd really doesn't care about you no matter how many soft smiles and assuring sounding talk he gives you- only your money or your Insurance Company He can gouge. I was considering legal action, but since He is family, I was talked out of it- for now. read more

I would recommend Dr J Ladd to anyone looking for cosmetic dentistry or any type of dentistry. I have been to various dentists over the past 30 years from a car accident that happened many years ago. I had lost my front three teeth along with jaw bone creating a difficult situation in making my teeth length appropriate. After going through a process of researching many dentists for cosmetic dentistry due to my bad experiences with other dentists; and, interviewing former clients of Dr Ladd, and grilling him and his office staff with a thousand questions, a decision was made to move forward with Dr Ladd. As a retired dental hygienist new to the Mesa area, I am so happy to have found Dr. Ladd Williams & his friendly, caring staff. They really do go the extra mile to provide the highest level of service to their patients. I came to this office with a difficult cosmetic situation... an existing cracked front bridge, probably caused by repeated clenching/grinding in my sleep. I also suffered from migraines for 18 years. Dr. Ladd spent a great deal of time adjusting my bite to relieve my clenching forces and now I rarely experience any migraines!! Once my bite was perfectly aligned, he set me up with an excellent periodontist, Mark Waring, DDS, who did some gingival contouring so that we could achieve aesthetic perfection with my new front bridgework and crowns. This reviews is many years overdue, but every time I drive by the office on my way home I feel so angry. I never took the time to call or acknowledge what happened or write a review. I truly believe my daughter had a root canal that she did not need. I was also instructed to have an urgent root canal on the front of one of my teeth because I had a so-called infection that I needed anabiotic's for immediately. I got a second opinion. There was nothing wrong with my tooth. I remember going in taking time off of work for teeth a cleaning and the doctor never came out because he was on the phone with another dentist. On a second occasion The hygienist did my cleaning in maybe five minutes and I was sent on my way. Things may have improved over the years but the way this practice started out was truly unbelievable. I believe it was a means to make money by suggesting procedures that were completely unnecessary. If you're looking for a dentist, your search is over, you couldn't make a better choice! I couldn't ask for better service! The only dentist who I've ever been to that shares his knowledge in an understandable manner, just doesn't ramble off teeth numbers to his staff. Not to mention he seeks the why, rather than just fixing issues as they come along - finds the patterns and thinks about the long term. You can tell Dr. Williams and his staff genuinely care about their patients and do their best to make uncomfortable situations the best they can be. I've had to experience the most invasive procedures to date for myself under his care, which was also the least amount of pain I've had in a dental chair. I can't even imagine if I had such procedures done else where. Even the administering of the anesthesia is the least painful I've ever had. It's a bit of a trek for myself and I'd easily triple that just to receive Dr. Williams's services. I'm not one to write reviews, but I understand the struggling of finding a good dentist and this practice certainly deserves rave reviews! read more

I went in for a crown, knowing how important it was to do, but not excited about it. They were ON TIME, which is excellent - except for me as I arrived late. Very graciously they got me seated and started. Here are the highlights: painless injection, comfortable environment, nothing scary at all, great conversation. It felt like they've done it a million times. Now that the numbing has worn off, the area where they worked feels fine. I have no pain and look forward to the next visit.
