The people are nice, but do NOT get your nails done here. I had to ask the nail tech who says she has been there for 19 years to cover my whole nail with the nail polish after seeing that she was finishing up and leaving the sides and bottom of each nail bare. She then responded "oh you want it to cover the nail?". Then said "well at least it's a pretty color". It was clumpy and uneven and I had to immediately get the gel polish removed and redone somewhere else. Don't waste your time or money! read more

Very disappointed in the Beyond Spa at Hackensack Wellness Center. I knew not to trust the older woman that booked my appointment. She had trouble with the computer when i booked it! She told me to come in at 1130am ....and when i arrived on time....she tells me she had me on at 1100am....wtf?! I was looking forward for a body massage for 2 weeks! They tried to accommodate by giving me a quick 25min massage...wtf is that? I went through the trouble of bringing my 2 year old and 6 year old out to their child care center. Just to come to this error! I new to the gym, and they seemed promising. Very disappointed....never going to this place. Ill spend my money elsewhere...no thank you! read more

I go here a couple times each year for a Swedish massage. The price is very reasonable and is what keeps me coming back. I feel confident in the workers because it is at Hackensack Medical Center. I would never go to some random place have have people play around with my muscles. Spending time at the salon is also very relaxing. Starting with the dressing room lotions to the sauna. They used to have flavored water available but I think they stopped it because Covid. Hopefully that comes back because it tasted amazing after a massage. read more

Hidden gem! I have been here 4 times already within the past month and I will keep coming back. I've gotten blow outs at different locations but nothing compares to the blow out I got at the spa. I felt like I was Hollywood ready and couldn't even hold my head straight walking down the hall, that's how voluminous and good looking I felt. I also love the spray tans here, my coworkers always complement me on it and say that it looks natural and not overdone or orange. On a whim, I woke up this morning and made an appointment for a hot stone massage; 50 minutes for $95 (at one of the top 10 best medical spas in the world) sounded reasonable to me. They tell you to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled session so you have time to enjoy the facilities. During the week they have valet outside of the building to park your car for you but since I came on a Saturday, I had to park it myself in the hospital's parking garage. You just have to mention this to the Spa Receptionist and she will give you a paid parking ticket so you don't have to shell out $6 to exit the garage. Beyond has a very clean locker room that include 2 separate showers, a sauna, a steam room, and 2 separate bathrooms. The sauna is a little small (could comfortably fit 3 people) but the steam room has more room. You are assigned a locker to change, and they provide you with a soft robe and sandals for your feet. I slipped into the robe and tried to enjoy the sauna but it wasn't long before my masseuse found me to start our session. While they do have massage rooms as part of the women's locker room, I was escorted down a hallway and into the men's locker room to use one of the massage rooms in there. My masseuse was a wonderful woman named Lin who made me feel so comfortable and at ease. The massage was amazing and the time passed so quickly as we talked about life that when it was over and I had to sit up, I felt like I was waking from a dream. When I got back to the locker room, there were 4-5 women in there waiting for their treatments to begin but by the time I got out of the sauna, all of them had gone so I had the entire locker room to myself. :) I just wanted to note: the steam room is nice but when it comes on to produce steam, the sound is almost deafening. The sound of jet engines jolts you out of a relaxed state and I had to cover my ears to tolerate the noise. Aside from that, everything was perfect. I believe If I'm going to shell out the money to have a massage, I want to make sure it's going to be worth it and here, it was definitely worth it. I couldn't have been happier. read more

I went in to get a facial in 2011. The staff didn't use the facial steamer correctly and gave me 2nd degree burn on my face (saw a doctor). She put fresh water in the steamer before putting it over my face (you are supposed to let it warm up before using it) It then spit scalding water on my face. Its been 2 years and I still have the scar. The owner showed up and took me downstairs to the hospital and when I asked if she was going to help pay for my doctors visit she threatened in front of everyone to call the police and she started screaming at me. I would say I was humiliated but that would not explain the misery and embarrassment this place put me through. Not to mention walking around with a burn on my face for weeks. The good thing is that this spa is in a hospital so the emergency room is near by since the staff and owner don't know what they are doing. read more

Great spa! My initial reaction was "how could this be a good day spa when its part of a hospital?" They definitely proved me wrong. I came here for my cousins spa day. Its not actually in the hospital but in the building next to the hospital where all the offices are located. It's on the 9th floor and a bit hard to find cause there were no signs but you just have to keep walking around and you'll find it eventually! The ladies were super sweet. They gave us a suite like area big enough to fit 12 people and with a mini kitchen. They let you bring your own booze and finger foods (veggies, dip, tortilla rolls, cheese and crackers). You can order a lunch from there but you have to do that ahead of time. They gave us a you of the place, it was pretty big surprisingly. We all changed into our robes and they showed us to our suite and had all our food set up on the table, and gave us plates and champagne glasses! So kind of them! The suite also had a view of the city in the distance. The masseuses came in and called each of our names when it was our turn. I got a 50 minute massage. It was a little painful but thats what i heard is supposed to happen because you feel amazing afterwords, which i did! After the massage, I went to the steam room and then the sauna that anyone can use at any time. They also had these cold cucumber towelettes right by them so you can wipe your face after. Its so refreshing. They also have water and iced tea in a couple different spots for when you get thirsty. The spa was very clean and nicely decorated as well. And as for prices, much cheaper than most day spas out there. I will definitely come back again! read more

Out of convenience, I use the Beyond Spa for manicures and pedicures being that its close to home and the only place I trust being clean in the area. I'm always satisfied with the services, which is why I give it 3 stars. However, being a spa, you will pay spa prices but the place needs a little polishing. Pun intended. It's a bit outdated and they don't spend as much time on the lotion massages, which is usually my favorite part when getting a pedicure. After all, it is their "Signature Pedicure." From beginning to end they spend about 30 minutes on this pedicure and it's going to run you $38 plus tip. Also, note that after 5pm during the week there is no valet parking in front of the building so you have to park in the hospital parking garage. The Spa will validate your parking but keep in mind that on certain days it could take 15 minutes to find a spot and walk to the Spa. -MJ read more

I've never had a massage by a massage therapist, let alone been to a spa, so I was excited to go. I received a gift certificate for a 25 MINUTE RIGHT THERE MASSAGE for Christmas and finally used it today. We're in July. Anyway, I''m glad I went. I've already decided to go again next month. Comfy robes, the cucumber was so refreshing, and the music & ambiance was just so tranquil. I didn't catch my massage therapist name (the only downfall - not so terrible) but she did a fantastic job. I will admit I'm a little sore a few hours later but it hurts so good. I had no idea I had to many knots. Can't wait to book another appointment. I was pressed for time today but next session will be at least an hour and I'll be sure to use the sauna. read more

I received a gift card and came here with my sister and father. My sis and I opted for the Swedish massage. My father opted for the pedicure (lol). Odd location. You have to park in the Hackensack hospital garage (validated) then take the elevator to the suite section. We figured it out fairly easy, but if I was alone I would have been confused. The staff is SUPER nice. We were escorted to the changing room. They had nice little amenities throughout the place, granola, cucumber water, lotions, etc. It was really nice to sit in the steam room and sauna before our massage. The massage itself was really nice. I felt relaxed and comfortable the entire time. My sister enjoyed herself as well. My dad loved his pedicure! He really enjoyed the peppermint lotion they used. Really nice spa. I've had several services, all of which have been wonderful. Also, I go here for my waxing services; My skin is sensitive and their bikini waxes never irritate my skin. It's super clean, too. It's in the building next to Hackensack Hospital so it's kind of a pain to park in the garage which is always mobbed. But they do have valet services! I recently visited the spa with a friend. She ordered a spa package that cost her upwards of $400.00. It included lunch for both of us. Lunch ended up taking place in the hallway on some side chairs with food brought up from the hospital cafeteria. Got my nails done. The manicurist's table was as a dusty as an abandoned house. Got a salt scrub. Took her 15 minutes. I felt like I got an oil job, not a scrub. I think the people are nice, but the spa has slipped. They keep asking me to vote them in for Best Spa in Bergen County. Unfortunately, they aren't. I'd say SoJo spa in Edgewater is the best as of 2018. Beyond Spa charged us $600 for a massage, salt scrub, and lunch. We paid $400 at Sojo for an all-day spa experience that featured multiple rooms with various services. Add ons like manicures and deep tissue massage were additional. The place is huge and there aren't any dusty tables there. I think Beyond has a lot of catching up to do. They are nice ladies from Jersey, but they need more than familiarity and pleasant smiles to garner five stars. read more

The staff here is really sweet but the nail services are just eh. Bad news first: sloppy painting (I think because the staff here are a little older and may have some difficulty seeing or perhaps I am expecting perfectly polished feet and hands). They don't have an enormous color selection for the mani/pedi and the cracks on my heels are still quite visible even after a $45 pedicure. For the price, no extra intensive massage. I have to say I have tried this place three times now and I don't know why I keep expecting better. I thinks it's because it's a beautiful place and it's close to work. Good news: they do in room services if you're in the hospital and their massages are good. Also, they bring you hot tea and flavored waters and like I said, it's a true spa feel with spa music and pleasant aesthetics. Unfortunately, I am going to have to stick to my good ole Forest Skin and Nail salon in Paramus for a great mani/pedi. Their talent with Beyond's facilities would be a gold mine! Thee most excruciating extraction I have ever had. Round one, Nawal began with some cleanser without careful technique causing cleanser to go up my nose, thus feeling like I was drowning. Round two was having the steam on to open my pores but holding down both nostrils at the same time to extract, leaving me no way to breath through the absolutely horrific extraction process. I've gotten a facial before and have not ever been in this much pain. Im sure bleeding is somewhat normal but as I got up I saw one of the towels she used covered in what looked like faint blood. 4 days later, I have dark marks from all of the skin trauma. I have never had any marks on my face in all my years of living until this facial. The dermatologist said that with constant care the scaring should go away within a year. Way too intrusive and harsh, and now I'm walking around with scaring. Save your money and your face. read more

Went there and everything was perfect. They took me right on time, the full body massage I got was great. After I finished my services, I went to the sauna, steam room, and shower. They have snacks, drinks, and products for you to use to make sure every part of your body is cleaned and moisturized. You also can get a card that marks the services you got done. I have gone for many messages before at other locations but was disappointed when I arrived at the beyond spa located in the HackensackUMC wellness center. First impression was poor; there were old plastic cups sitting on the table in the waiting area. The water they provide was clearly sitting out for a while because the ice had melted and it was warm. The room was also very warm. Once the message had started I was disappointed immediately. The patting on the face/head rest was so soft my face was pressed against the plastic frame which was uncomfortable. Also, I was not educated/informed of the various different types of message they offer but rather was quickly asked "are you here for just a relaxing message or some other different type?" As the message began, it was very difficult to actually relax because I could hear the costumers/staff outside the door at the front desk talking/laughing. Once I was able to ignore the conversations going on outside I started to hear a lot of banging. The banging noise I assume was coming from upstairs and it sounded like someone was slamming weights down on the floor. The overall experience was not what I was expecting. I do not put blame on the message therapist who did provide a very nice message or the front desk receptionist who was very nice, I put the blame on the overall facility. The facility, the loud noises, and uncomfortable head/face rest are the reasons why I did not enjoy my experience at Beyond Spa located in the wellness center (the spa at the hospital is much nicer). I would not recommend or return to the spa located at the HackensackUMC Wellness Center. read more

Facial and massage treatment and staff were great. I enjoyed my services. My husband got me a package that included lunch, and when I asked for it they looked at me like I have 6 heads. Turned out the person who booked me didn't note correctly that I was coming in for the package. They than insulted me with two offers they gave me to fix their mistake. The first they gave me a 20% off coupon to come back because "it has more value then a lunch and it's better then getting lunch". The other was they offered to give me crackers and cheese with an apple if I was really that hungry! I was like are you for real? If the coupon to come back is so much better then the lunch then put that in the package instead of the lunch. People don't want coupons to return, they want what they signed up for. I conclude that the management who run this place truly don't understand the concept of the spa experience. They completely ruined the whole experience for me when I checked out. And worse my husband feels bad he signed me up for it. I don't think I'll return or recommend anyone to come here. read more
