There are a couple Bevmo around my area but this is definitely my favorite. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. I usually place my order online and pick it up from the store. One time, one of the bottles that I ordered was out of stock and they gave me a call on my cell to let me know and offered me 1/2 off for another similar bottle. How sweet! read more

Another reviewer compared bevmo to costco. I would say they're nowhere close. Many years ago they may have been. You won't find boutique small batch liquor here and you usually pay higher prices. I recently checked the 2015 gold medal winners at the SF spirits competition. They had almost none of the winners. I just returned from Kauai with a bottle of Koloa rum. $35 at the Koloa rum store. At a local market on Kauai I paid $30. Costco didn't have the koloa spiced rum I bought but the other white rum was $29. Bevmo's price is $40. They used to have a great selection but not any more. You'll always find the big brand liquors at Bevmo but not the specialty distillers or the special flavors. read more

I am writing this review because of WC BevMo's employee/beer manager (?), Christian. He went above an beyond to get me the keg of choice for a family mourning the sudden loss of their beloved dad. So many stars aligned and it started with Christian. He found the keg at another store and went on his lunch break to bring the keg to his store for me. My friend that passed was a selfless man who always did more for others than for himself. Christian stepped right up and did the same. I'll be forever grateful. read more

I purchase 95% of my wine and other alcoholic beverages here. The selection is huge and the prices most of the time can't be beat. Even when stuff is on sale at a supermarket, it is often times at or still above BevMo's prices. Not to mention BevMo has some awesome sales as well. Outstanding wine, liquor and beer selections. To go along with that they have classes with multiple wineries represented so you can judge them nose to nose so to speak. The cheese selection is the best in the valley with different samples out most of the time, also if you see something that interests you the guys will cut you a sample but watch out that's how they suck you in. read more

Having this BevMo within walking distance is dangerous. This BevMo is apparently the biggest one in country. It has a great wine selection where I can usually find at least one or two of the Wine Spectator top 100 wines in stock. It's hard to pass up on their cheese selection, caviar, spirits, chips, snacks, you name it. If this thing was open 24 hours, I think I'd have a serious problem. The only bad thing is that whether or not you're the person actually purchasing the alcohol or just going with a friend, you have to show your ID when checking out. Its not the law, it's a 'store policy.' It was kind of annoying because I look young and since it's pretty close by, I've walked without taking my ID a few times and had to walk back to grab it. read more

The staff here is always exceptional, but someone went so far above and beyond on this visit that I felt compelled to write a review here. Here goes: I wanted to buy some charcuterie, but no one was behind the counter. I asked the first person I saw, who I think was the manager (Kyle), if it was still open. He said they had just closed it down, but they wanted me to be happy and someone would help me if I could wait for a few minutes. I did, and no one had come. I offered to another guy to go up the street to Lunardi's so as not to inconvenience anyone, but this guy and Kyle (who walked up then) insisted that they wanted to help me at Bevmo. Kyle sliced all of the meat himself. The scale even ran out of the price stickers and Kyle called someone to walk him through fixing it. He was absolutely delightful to chat with and went *far* out of his way to help me. Throughout the whole thing, he and the other guy I spoke with were all smiles and very upbeat. They have a great team there, and it will keep me going to BevMo instead of the Total Wine that just went in nearby. read more

I went in to this location yesterday looking for a nice cognac for my father for father's day. I know very little about cognac and was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful help I was given by an employee whose name tag said "Goodie" (I believe he said it was because his last name is Goodwin). He has helped me there once before and both times has been incredibly patient and knowledgeable about the alcohol with good suggestions. When I had selected the box set of cognac that I wanted, he went to the back and found a nice, sealed one and brought it to the register for me to purchase. Came here last night about 1.5-2 hours before they closed. Handful of employees working, about 2-3 times that amount of customers in the store. I've been to a few different BevMo's and this one has the MOST helpful employees. I was greeted when I walked in, was asked 3 times by 2 different employees if I needed help (which I did), fast response when I wanted a bottle of cognac from a glass case. The best part was Karen B. who was sooo nice, friendly, and helpful. I had two bottles that wouldn't scan and a box with a hole at the bottom but Karen took care of those for me pretty quickly and when a line started forming behind me, she immediately hopped on the phone/loudspeaker for another associate. It was so close to quitting time for these employees but they didn't show it. They didn't act like asking them for help ruined their day like some places do. read more

This is their flagship store (their "Main & Geary" wine label is named after this flagship store), and the place to go for the selection variety, although not necessarily for price. This store really has almost anything alcohol-related. Their prices are rarely competitive, though. If Safeway has the same item, one can almost always get it more cheaply at Safeway (and the Safeway at Treat & Bancroft about a mile and a half away has a pretty good selection). That being said, if you want an unusual wine, liquor, beer, or cheese, this is the place you'll find it. I agree with many others that they go way overboard in carding people. It's ridiculous enough that they card someone like myself, who's well into his 50s. But I've seen them card men with gray hair, balding, and wrinkled, who are obviously senior citizens and haven't been teenagers in many decades. Their sales help are generally quite knowledgeable and helpful. This is not the place to go for your everyday dinner wine or beer. But if you're looking for an unusual bottle of wine or a rare bottle of liquor, this is the place you'll find it. read more

Yes I am an alcoholic and this is how I picture heaven. Ok seriously I'm not an alcoholic, more of an alcoholist. BevMo has just about everything that I could wish for except for a particular Steele Pinot Noir that seems to have become very scarce and a Caribbean beer that apparently was affected by some sort of embargo. Other than that I love the place but I have to say that the cashiers must hate their jobs. Two out of three are not very nice so I suppose that working there must not be a lot of fun. read more

They recently earned two more star. While I am still pissed that they card everyone in your group when you check out and refuse to sell you alcohol though you are over age of anyone in your group is under (DUMBEST POLICY EVER). I am still upset about this some 4 years or so later. Anyways they earned one more star in my view as they sell Neige - a hard to find apple Ice Wine and yes it is very hard to find because I called every distributor and resaler in town to avoid spending money here but they were the only ones who carried it and at 40 bucks a bottle it beats the 10 bucks a sip you get at high end restaurants. Great gift idea. Anyway they earned one more star on top of that because it was here I discovered Louisi a Moscato d'Asti which was buy one get one 5 cents. I bought two and later returned for a crate which is an additional 10% off. So $120 for 12 bottles of the most amazing wine I have ever had. While I hate their stupid policy, their store selection and pricing is slowly winning me over. read more

We love this Bevmo because the staff here is so friendly and helpful! My fiancé and I bought the wine, beer, and sodas for our wedding here and everyone who helped us was the best! Chris, who helped us with the tastings, was so knowledgeable and helpful. He made the whole process fun and simple. It was clear he really knew what he was talking about and we really appreciated all of his expertise and his willingness to let us try a variety of different wine and beer until we found the right ones. I gotta give major praise to bevmo in Walnut Creek. I went in there to buy wine for my wedding and got a little carried away. Immediate buyers remorse as soon as I swiped my card. The employee helping us was incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. I'm kicking myself because I didn't get his name, but he was young, with glasses and a beard. That guy deserves a raise. I came back in and explained that I would like to exchange the wine I bought for some less expensive ones. Without hesitation or exasperation he helped me do just that. All with a smile. The employee at the customer service was just as awesome. No problem exchanging the big order and was friendly about it the whole time. I work in grocery retail and I know how frustrating things like that can be. They even had people who had called out so they were short staffed, but still even handled the situation like professionals. Thank you guys at bevmo! read more

I actually heard a rumor recently that BevMo in Walnut Creek is closing or going out of business which is prompting me to write this review. I don't shop at BevMo all the time, since it's sometimes a bit pricey, and I kind of prefer the one stop shop mentality, and unfortunately you can't buy bread at BevMo. That said, I still really enjoy going there on occasion, and there really isn't anywhere else like it. I like my drinks, and I like my wine, and you can find stuff at BevMo that they don't have anywhere else. You can always find the perfect gift for any of your lush friends, who otherwise have everything. You also really can't beat the wine sales they have. Where else can you get a bottle of wine for $.05? BevMo also has really cool wine and beer tasting for free (I believe). At the end of the day, I would be really sad if we loose this place, and I will start to make an effort to go more often. read more

We stumbled into this place on accident. What a lucky accident. This place is great. They have everything you could imagine, plus drinkware and snacks. I love the kiosk of mini bottles (woo hoo). There is also a glass-bottle soda pop aisle, with such Midwestern favorites as Vernor's and Faygo. Stop by... it's fun. read more

I would order items online and they would be all ready to go when I arrived. In my opinion this BevMo used to be somewhat better a few years ago, when they were at the south end of the strip mall. They used to have an incredible selection of international and domestic beers but that's mostly gone, and parking at this place is a total PITA now; difficult to get in and out of, and frequently crowded. That said, I really like BevMo's because of their great selection and because they make it easy to choose great wines at reasonable prices, even for someone like me who doesn't know a lot about wine. The parking keeps me out of this particular store; I usually hit Trader Joe's or Cost Plus if I can't get to one of the other BevMos. read more

I've been a customer of BevMo for a long time. They have so many different brands of wine, beer, sprits, liquors, snacks and accessories. Especially the one near where I live, they have a deli where they sell different types of cheese to go with your wine. So far, employees working behind the deli counter area seemed to know what cheese goes with what type of wine. I haven't had a bad experience with any of them yet. There's always someone there asking if I need any help selecting something or just checking to see how I'm doing. They are very polite, professional and very knowledgeable on the alcohol they have. I love their $.05 cent promotions !! and they have coupons that you can use with purchases. I thought when Total Wine and More opened up across the freeway in Walnut Creek that it would have some impact on my alcoholic beverages purchasing. It has not, although many spirits are much cheaper than BevMo. But overall, I still spend just as much money at BevMo. One thing I wish BevMo would do is price match what Total Wine & More. read more
