Love this place. Good beer. Great people. Family friendly. Dog friendly. Good pizza. I mean seriously, what is not to like??

Great place to hang out and grab a beer. Mary and the staff are always great. Unfortunately there are some entitled parents that let their kids run wild and unsupervised. The staff here is not a baby sitter and should not have to remind parents of their responsibilities as parents. I've seen the staff have to remind parents that their kids can't run wild and play in the streets only to see the parents get upset and complain about being asked to watch their children. This is a brewery not a kids birthday party palace. read more

We've been patrons of Calicraft since its very early days and have always appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere. Frankly, I think that is a huge part of its appeal and success in a suburban Walnut Creek location. That's why our experience last night was so disappointing. We met friends there with our kids, who spent the vast majority of the evening sitting at our table on their tablets. At one point, they got up and were running around, and a bartender named Caitlyn rudely yelled at them and then spoke to us in an incredibly disrespectful and condescending tone. We are absolutely capable of redirecting our own children and would have had no issue with a staff member politely asking us to have them sit down if there was a safety concern. What was not acceptable was the way it was handled. If Calicraft no longer wants to be a family-friendly establishment, that's certainly their choice, but they should be clear about it. You can't build a loyal customer base around being a welcoming neighborhood gathering place for families and then treat those same families like they're an inconvenience. After supporting Calicraft for years, we left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome and really disappointed. read more

Hard no. Like a playground with beer. We're here right now and have to leave from screaming kids running around. Waste of a good brewery. So sad. read more

The staff is very kind and very social. The place was a bit crowded but they have plenty of seats inside and outside. Sadly only 2 outdoor heaters. I tried their pink caddy and Tokyo cosmo. The pink caddy was a bit sweet and the Tokyo was more sour than tart. read more

Came here on a weekend expecting a nice, relaxing day at a brewery... apparently I accidentally walked into an elementary school with a beer garden. Kids were running absolutely EVERYWHERE while the parents sat around drinking like they had hired invisible babysitters. No supervision, no discipline, no "hey, get down from there"--nothing. At one point I was genuinely wondering if the parents even knew where their kids were. There are literally signs telling people to stay out of certain areas, yet kids were running all over the newly planted plants like it was recess. Look, I have nothing against kids, but a brewery is not a playground. If your kids need somewhere to sprint, climb, yell, and run laps, there are plenty of actual playgrounds nearby. Take them to Pixieland or COPA across the street and let them burn off some energy there. And maybe keep an eye on them while you're enjoying your beer... because watching two adults drink while their kids are running around unsupervised is not exactly the "relaxed afternoon" I came here for. The beer was good, I'll give them that. Unfortunately, the atmosphere felt more like Chuck E. Cheese with an IPA menu. Definitely not the peaceful brewery experience I was expecting. read more

Do you love herds of screaming children? Self absorbed Parents who let their kids run wild? Then this place is for you!!! Came here randomly on a bike ride! Great outdoor space and food pop ups. Really nice chill vibes, great stop for a ride. Bike friendly!

I was really looking forward to checking out this new space. We stopped by on a Monday night for a beer. The view was great and the indoor space was nicely decorated. Normally, I do not rate places by service but in this case I will. The bartender was very efficient, but she was the only one working. It took a long time to get a drink and when I finally placed the order, they were out of one of the beers. We had to bus our own table in order to find a place to sit. Hopefully they are just working out the kinks and we will try it again. read more

Calicraft is one of the best Brewers around downtown Upstairs Mitchell Dr., Walnut Creek, Fairfield, and Davis I've been to the mall high-quality beers and the owner. Blaine and his staff are fantastic. read more

I want to love this place, but almost every time I go I don't have a good time. I love kids and have three myself, but the amount of unsupervised children running around is unbelievable and ruins the experience. When I tried to ask a staff member if there was anything that could be done about the young kids running and throwing things past my table over and over, he brushed me off and basically told me that there's nothing they can do about it. Parents don't seem to care at all, they just drink away while their children are screaming, running around, throwing things, and doing whatever they want. I don't understand how it's legal! Most of the beer is pretty good and I love the pizza that they usually have, but the atmosphere is almost miserable. I've heard that their next plans include a dedicated kids area, but I'm sure that it will just attract more of this behavior. There are better breweries in the area, I'm done trying to enjoy this one. read more

For a place that makes money claiming they're kid friendly they sure know how to disappoint you! We came to their temporary location and wow! Their beer is fantastic and the pizza is to die for. I can't remember the name of the pizza but it had tater tots on it! Service was fast and the bartenders were so nice! Their bathrooms were super clean too, although a bit a cramped. They had a sand box looking thing and an open area for kids to run around. It's super family friendly so keep in mind there will be kids around. We will definitely be back! read more

Walnut creek is very very hot. Wish the beers here were a bit colder. We ordered the beer here and it was barely cold. Not really what I'm looking for on a hot sunny day. Not a family friendly brewery like all others. We had a terrible experience with service. We understand other customers have been upset at having kids around them and not having their parents check in on them. This is what other reviews mention and I believe this is what the service staff are probably annoyed at having to do. We visited Calicraft right after the renovations, however, we've been customers for many years prior to kids and now with kids. We visited with another family, so there was a total of 4 kids. First, our children were getting up and down from the picnic tables but they were all within our view and not around other people. They were working on some arts and crafts and brought their own toys. There were other costumers who sat next to us and were actually engaging with my 2 year old and it was all friendly. At times, yes, the kids would get up their tables and walk around our table that was right next to us. However, a staff member approached us with an attitude and told us kids had to stay seated where we were seated (so they couldn't leave their tables as of it's a formal dining place?). I understand approaching parents to get their attention with their kids, but we were all fully aware of their whereabouts and they were with us just standing right next to us! Secondly, we took the kids to get water from the water fountain and a staff member who was walking by to go to the restroom stopped and said "they have to be careful." Us parents were right there helping them get water because some couldn't reach the fountain, plus they were not even playing or making a mess. It's this constant monitoring of kids and making families with children feel unwelcome. Perhaps all the bad reviews from other costumers regarding their experience with other children has led staff feeling irritated or annoyed at just seeing children at the brewery. Our kids were behaved considering that they are kids, and I'm not saying this just because they are ours. If this business wants to consider addressing the complaints they've had from other customers, perhaps having a children's area or family games like other breweries would address this issue. Some of the nearby family friendly breweries that have included ways to be inclusive of families are headlands, side gate, bare bottle... With the renovation, it is upsetting to know that adding a kids area was not considered, or at least that's what we were told by the waitress. She specifically said "it's not a top priority for the owners" when we asked if they thought about having a children's area, so now we know it's not a place that welcomes families with children. Calicraft, we've been customers for so many years! And now we wanted to bring our children to be part of our outings (as so do many other families with children), but it's unfortunate you are not welcoming them, I'm not mad, just upset We won't be coming anymore, unfortunately. read more

Kudos to the staff here. They are some of the nicest people I've met. For what they have to deal with they are extremely professional. I'm not sure why people come to a brewery and let their kids run around unsupervised. If you want to have a drink and not have to watch your children maybe stay home? There are group of kids running around as well as small children with no one watching them. If the behavior would not fly in a regular restaurant why would it be ok here?!?!? It's a beer garden not a playground. The owner should be concerned about liability and put some rules in place. The staff should not have to babysit parents and remind them what their kids are doing is dangerous or unacceptable. read more

Love this spot and the beers but it genuinely feels like a playground for kids... screaming running jumping nonstop with parents who let them do whatever they want instead of parenting. IF YOU HAVE KIDS GET A BABYSITTER OR TAKE THEM TO A PLAYGROUND NOT A BREWERY!! read more

This place is terrible! The waitress yelled at the kids all the time. We came here thinking it's a family place but nope. It's the opposite. It's dirty, no food options, no drink option but crappy beer. Oh and service was negative 10. read more

I've been to Calicraft a few times now, and can safely say the quality of the beer & vibes are both consistently high. If you're looking for a relaxed environment, fantastic local brews on draft, and laid-back service, Calicraft is a great option. If you're up for a crawl, add in Mike Hess up the street. While there is plenty of warm, comfortable seating inside, I've always been outside on the picnic tables. The bike rack & immediate proximity to the Canal Trail makes this a bike/beer lover's dream spot. Food options depend on which food trucks they have visiting; last night, wood-fired pizzas dominated. Kids run amok (the area can feel like you're drinking beer in the middle of an elementary school recess), which makes this a great choice for parents. I'm more of an adult-vibes-only drinker, but there's no reason to avoid Calicraft. Two kolsch's & a tip were about $18. Two beers and a couple of hours of relaxing after a ride felt completely worth it to me. They played fun, energetic rock jams & the fire pits added a cozy feeling to an autumn afternoon. Cheers! read more

Calicraft makes great tasting beer right in the heart of Walnut Creek. They have a lot of outside seating and a fair amount of inside also. You can book different areas for an event, depending on your needs. For an inside room I was scoping, the price is around $10 per person, which does not include any beer. They had some food vendors on site but I didn't get a chance to try them out. If you're not sure what beer to order, check out the Oaktown Brown Ale! read more

Let's level set this review, a snap shot of Calicraft at this moment in time. The brewery is under construction, so there's a makeshift beer tailer and expensive $$$ ($20 personal pizza) food vendors. Beer, good! Food, idk. Because why bother eating with a horrendous ambiance (construction backdrop in the middle of suburbia). The bad: All websites need to update how this establishment currently looks, not how it looked (pre-construction) or how it will look (when the place is phenomenal). The good: In 2026, I promise to visit when the venue is fully complete and give an updated review, when the place is likely going to be amazing, again. All in all, what a waste of time to travel to this brewery as presently providing service, when there are soooo many other options. read more

The beer was okay but nothing spectacular but I like the family-friendly vibe. My review is mainly about the service. There are two issues. 1. Before going, I checked their website, it listed two food trucks for Sunday, but only one (a pizza place) was there. 2. There was also a strange issue with the charges. After I swiped my card, the screen didn't advance, but it showed $16.94 (including tax). The bartender said the payment went through so it was good. Now, my credit card showed a $30 charge and, the next day, a $9.96 refund. My guess is they charge a $30 deposit for a flight and then refund the difference, possibly keeping a ~$4 "service fee"? I wouldn't mind tipping for good service, but that should be voluntary, just not hidden in the billing. read more

Its ok, will be better once new taproom done. In the meantime its all outside and only food is limited food trucks. Kind of high maintenance walnut creek douche vibes and things like reserved picnic tables. read more

Awesome brewery hidden off the main roads and in the back of a big parking lot in a little industrial complex! Plenty of parking, dog friendly, lots of outdoor seating (and some indoor seating), super friendly and helpful staff. And the beers were super tasty and reasonably priced (I did a flight of 4 to try a bunch). They had a food tent making pizzas outside and I guess they have other food tents/trucks and events throughout the week. Definitely coming back here often to try more beers. read more

Met a group of women at Calicraft Brewing in the evening. It had ample seating on the inside with bench-style tables. I was able to secure an open space with a nice long bench. I liked how the establishment had twinkle lights decorating the interior. Outside the establishment, there were plenty of benches, but unfortunately, there were no heating lamps and sitting outside on a cold evening was too uncomfortable. I'm sure it would be nice to sit outside when the weather is warm. The brewery does not serve food, but they had a pizza food truck on this particular day by the name of Citizen Pizza Company. Please check the calendar online on the establishment's website to see which food truck will be there ahead of time. The service by Citizen Pizza Company was very unpleasant. I did not have a great experience with the pizza owner as he was really rude and snappy. Also, upon arriving the establishment there was a lady who appeared to be the manager of Calicraft Brewing that was extremely short and demanding. Overall, I did not get a welcoming vibe from this establishment, but I did appreciate being able to meet with friends at a clean venue with an open space. read more

The food and drink was fine. The place needs more trees so that we can sit in the shade and enjoy our drinks. I personally thought it was just ok. read more

While doing a little wedding anniversary trip to the bay, my husband and I came to Calicraft brewing because it was near our Airbnb. They have a large parking lot with plenty of outdoor seating. The indoor seating is limited, but there are spots. I love that they are both dog and kid-friendly, as we had our two large dogs with us. They appear to have a rotating food truck, and it was serving pizza the night we were there. They have a nice variety of beers on tap as well as some of their beers for sale to-go. My husband loved that they had Amber and red ale options. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. read more

Don't let the unassuming location of a random industrial park fool you. The hidden location comes with a wide array of local brews plus ample parking. Whenever I visit home, this is the go-to spot to meet up with friends. They offer a little something for everyone, there are plenty of local brews on tap from hoppy IPAs to heavy stouts any everything inbetween. Even if beer isn't your thing they have hard fruit spritzers. As for the folks who are DD's pregnant or just don't want a drink they have non-alcoholic options available as well. Aside from the brews, something I appreciate about this brewery is the multigenerational atmosphere. This space welcomes families and is both kid and dog-friendly. There are plenty of tables for large groups, birthday parties and cozy corners for date nights. They don't serve food but they have rotating food trucks and welcome outside food. Once you reach the life stage where the majority of your friend group is starting families, it's nice to know that Calicraft is a space to sip on a cold one with friends in a space where they know their children are welcome. read more

This review is long overdue! When my husband and I lived in Walnut Creek, we regularly visited this spot, whether with family, friends, or just the two of us. Whether it was a weekday or weekend, out running errands or hosting guests, this place was our go-to. Its convenience, offering both indoor and outdoor seating, made it an easy and top choice. They're open Monday through Thursday starting at 3 p.m., and Friday through Sunday at noon. If you're coming with a big group or planning a small get-together, it's best to arrive early. While there's a huge parking lot, this is a popular spot, especially during the summer or when the weather's nice. While they don't serve food, the food trucks offer great options for grabbing a bite. Quick tip: check the calendar to see which food trucks will be there ahead of time. The service here is outstanding, and honestly, that's what keeps us coming back - aside from the great beer, of course! Our favorites are the Cool Kidz, Spritz, and Cruz. All in all, Calicraft Brewery has earned its spot as one of my favorite places in Walnut Creek. Whether you're a local or just passing through, definitely grab yourself a great beer! read more

This a cool spot & I had no idea it was in Concord! My husband & I have tried & enjoyed their Cool Kidz that we picked up at our local Whole Foods so we were excited to visit the actual brewery. The parking lot is quite large & the outdoor seating space is large as well, a lot of covered & uncovered tables & lawn chairs to choose from. They also have a few large tables indoors that you can sit at. They have a variety of beers & spritz as well as slushy spritz! My favorites were the pomegranate blueberry slushy & the Cool Kidz Hazy on tap. The servers are SUPER friendly & the ambience is so laid back, we will definitely be returning! read more

Pretty good brew. Happy they opened a new WC option. Looking forward to trying it out.

What a fun little spot! And when I say "little", I don't mean that literally. This place is actually pretty damn huge. Geezuuuss... whyyy has it taken me soooo long to finally get here?! I remember seeing the signs on the street when this place first opened. It's down the street from one of my favorite weekend farmer's markets. I've been telling myself for years that I was gonna stop by. Welp, FINALLY made it here last year! And I can honestly say that I'm a fan. Good beer, good vibes, and good times! If you know me, you know that I'm a wino at heart. But every now and then, I gotta have a cold one or two. Dropped by on a Friday night and the place was bustling! Calicraft is located all the way at the end of a very inconspicuous parking spot on a random street in Walnut Creek. You would never know that this place was here if you weren't looking for it. They have a few a-frames out on the street which kind of helps. They've got a huge outdoor patio space that's decked out with several tables, lawn chairs, and barrels. There's also a smaller indoor area where you can sit inside, but the patio is definitely where it's at. It was super busy but all of the tables and barrels were spaced out pretty far and a lot of people were wearing masks even while they were outside. They had a live band playing and Cousin's Maine Lobster truck was there shelling out their lovable lobster rolls and clam chowder. Of course I had to get me some lobsta! They don't do taster flights here, but they'll let you try a splash of anything before you buy it. The beertenders are also super helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to recommendations based on your palate. I'm big on sours but sometimes they end up being a bit too tart for me. This was the case with their barrel aged sour blueberry. The beertender recommended that I try their popular Tiki Time tropical wheat and it was a hit. Ended up enjoying on the patio with my lobster roll and clam chowder. They have a pretty versatile tap list which I can appreciate. Many times I've gone to breweries where the majority of their taps are IPA's. Not everyone gets down like that, and I'm glad that these newer breweries are noticing this and adjusting to the times. Variety is definitely key. At night, the patio is all lit up with string lights. Didn't see any heat lamps, but that would be tough with the large space that they have anyways. Definitely a super fun spot to kick it, especially when it's warm out. Now that I've finally been here, I have no excuses. It's too close to not stop by again soon. read more

Calicraft is an awesome neighborhood taproom and one of my favorite places to meet with friends in the area. From the solid draft menu to the lively outdoor seating area, Calicraft provides the ideal venue for a cold beer on a laid-back afternoon. The menu is small but offers something for everyone, from fruity spritzers to bold double IPAs. My personal is favorite is The City West Coast IPA, and I've also tried the Cruz California lager, which I would consider ordering again. There is usually a food truck onsite - I have seen taco trucks during each of my visits. You can also order cans to take home (and enjoy the neat designs on the labels). In terms of ambiance, the spacious outdoor seating area is set far enough from the street and nearby buildings that it is not readily evident that you are sitting in the middle of a business park. There is live music on weekends, and the overall atmosphere is family and pet friendly (each group seemed to have at least one). I can definitely see why Calicraft has become a neighborhood fixture. read more
