This is a brand new establishment right on the main boulevard. Besides a brewery, it has a large food menu as well. Surprisingly, there are also a lot of wines to choose. The that I visited they had 18 beers and 4 non-alcoholic beverages to choose from. There's a lot of seats inside as well as a huge outdoor area. This is truly an A+ establishment. What an adorable space! The aesthetic is so clean. 6:30 on a Friday and there was still some seating available and no line. Just got drinks before dinner. I had the Cab Sauv / Hat. Popped in on a Thurs late afternoon and walked right up to order. Grabbed 2 flights, was surprised it was 3 beers per flight. Rolled 6 different IPA and they were all a bit different. Some were more malty, some more fruity. Decent brews. Looking forward to continued variety. Options for wine are nice for the other halfs. Place was bright inside, wide open. Cool views of the brewing process. Beertender seemed a bit green and could smile a bit more but that didnt dim the experience. Figuring out parking took a moment but not bad. Really fun new local hangout. Met friends here during one of the World Cup games and it was bustling with great energy. They have good outdoor seating that accommodates dogs and kids. Good selection of wines and beers. (But they need better N/A drink options.) And their fresh tortilla chips were crispy and melt in your mouth amazing. The seating layout feels a bit disjointed; some tables feature fixed benches paired with chairs, while others are just a few chairs around small tables in the center. The outdoor seating area seemed decent. They offer a good selection of beer pours at $10 each, but the food is pricey and falls short. A basic salad $20, and the $21 birria tacos consisted of bunched meat that lacked flavor. Service was good with the convenient order-at-the-register setup. Fantastic!! Finally Open! Great beer selection and excellent wine selection as well. Yet to try what appear to be wonderful snacks. This place is selling a variety of West Coast IPA's and Mexican German and American lagers and pilsners. Have not yet tried the birria or Tinga tacos, guacamole or chips. The beer and wine is great. I sampled a German pilsner which was crisp and clean and the imperial Stout which is luscious, rich with flavor, bitterness and alcohol. Although not advertised as a bourbon, barrel-aged drink but reminded me of such beverages. Friendly staff. Comfortable seating, lively spacious and feel good music. Nice indoor outdoor experience with large openings. Plenty of accessible entrances, ramps. Super friendly staff serving and cleaning. We've been loving Western Flyer and are so glad it's finally opened, it's quickly become one of our go-to spots in Lafayette. The tacos are consistently delicious (fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot every time), and the chips + guac are a must-order... perfectly crisp chips and super fresh, well-balanced guacamole. It's also such an easy place to bring the whole family. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and there's truly something for everyone, whether you're there with kids or meeting friends. And the drinks...so good. The beer is on point and super refreshing, especially on a warm day. And they have other options for non beer drinkers. Very cool new brewery at the south end of downtown Lafayette. Not a ton of parking nearby (some street/metered in the area), but a decent amount of indoor & outdoor seating once you get there. It was pretty packed on a Friday evening but the line went pretty quick to order. Definitely seemed kid & dog (outside) friendly. If you ask they'll do a 'flight' of 4 slightly-less-than-half pours for the price of 2 beers, which was cool since i could try 4 of their 17(!!) beers on tap. The rice lager, Czech pilsner, experimental hazy IPA, and experimental regular IPA were all quite tasty and made very classically in their respective styles. I wish there was slightly more description about each beer (especially the many experimental ones) on the menu. Next time I'm there and it's less crowded I might ask to have a sip/taste of a couple of them. read more

What a great new taproom in downtown Lafayette. We went for a Friday lunch. Street parking was a breeze. There's was a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. Yes, the music was a little loud, but we talked a little louder and forgot about it. We had French fries ($8) and a variety of 3 tacos ($19). The tacos weren't huge, but they were adequate and tasty. The pig and steer were better than the chicken. Western Flyer has an extensive lineup of beers, especially IPAs, with 4 hazies and 4 West Coast. Pints are $10. My hazy (#3) was delicious. The menu claimed it was 7.6% ABV, but the board behind the bar claimed it was 6.7%, and the bartender didn't know which it was. It tasted more like 6.7 than 7.6 to me, but who knows? I'd like to come back with my 2nd Sunday group. read more

This is a difficult review to write as I'm conflicted on this establishment. I want it to be a success as I live in Lafayette and prefer to patronize local businesses as much as possible. The space itself is actually very cool. It's spacious and stylish and the staff is friendly and efficient. An employee there by the name of Kristen is their single best asset. Now to the food and beer. It's ordinary AT BEST and expensive as well. I can live with expensive but the food and beverage need to live up to the price. Their's unfortunately falls far short of this. The beer is fine. Nothing outstanding, nothing awful. The food is where they are desperately falling short. While the beer is average the food is as bad as any food I've ever had in an upscale place. I've visited with friends and family multiple times and have tried everything they serve. It's simply not good. The one thing that's "decent" is the chips and guacamole. The salsa they serve with it is meh. We've mostly stopped going but the last few times we were there we noticed that overwhelmingly, patrons were only drinking. No food at the tables. If there was food it was almost exclusively the $14 chips. It's really about the only thing that's palatable. I do hope they can get the food figured out. A place this size in central Lafayette will never make it on beer alone. It's got to be a huge nut to crack each month. If they don't address the food problem, I don't see them lasting into the new year. read more

For the past 25 years I've been to breweries up and down this entire state and when I visited Western Flyer Brewing on its official opening night it became abundantly clear to me that this brewery is in a league of its own. Sure, like other popular breweries it has great tasting beer, is family friendly and dog friendly and has good food and good friendly service. However, what sets it apart is the extraordinary architecture with wonderful natural light from windows that stretch from the floor to its 20 foot tall ceilings! There are walls of windows that open up accordion style allowing the inside vibe to be continuous with the outside vibe. There are cool secluded spots for couples or small groups to gather that gives them a sense of privacy, some of them appointed with beautiful propane fire pits. There is a long rectangular seating area next to a 3 foot tall glass wall that lets you feel a greater interaction with all the shining stainless steel brewery equipment. Western Flyer Brewing will most assuredly be a destination for people throughout the greater Bay Area. Oh, did I mention they have a selection of good wine as well?! read more

Wow, what an amazing find this place is! The building/architecture is simply beautiful as is the interior decor and furnishing, there is both inside and outdoor seating . Best of all, there are 17 different beers on tap, all brewed on the premises. There is also a wine menu (13 wines; white, red and sparkling), by the glass. So far I have tried 7 of the IPAs and 3 of the lagers/pilsners (over several visits that is!), all are outstanding, as good as it gets IMHO. Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As brewpubs go, this place is as good as it gets. As an added bonus, there is a kitchen that serves outstanding Mexican cuisine. The menu is currently being developed. So far I have tried 3 of the tacos and an amazing Mexican salad. Make a beeline for this place, you will not be disappointed. The man behind this incredible enterprise is Logan Jager. Logan is very friendly and a joy to discuss beer with, he undoubtably knows what he is doing. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. We've been anxious to try Western Flyer Brewing for sometime. We finally decided to drop by this evening on a perfect Summer evening. We sat outside on the patio and had a beer, a glass of rosé and guacamole and chips. The offering of beers and wine is good, although I wanted a dark lager which they don't offer. The food is typical brew pub fare; tortilla chips, street tacos, quesadillas, etc. The venue is comfortable and casual. There is outside and inside seating. Dogs are welcome. What a delightful surprise and great addition to the community! The long awaited opening of Western Flyer Brewing Company did not disappoint. The selection of hand crafted beers is impressive as well as a nice offering of quality wines. The light bites available include tacos, quesadillas, and guacamole with chips. I tried the guacamole and it came with two amazing salsas. The mango habanero salsa is perfection with just the right amount of heat! Being a fan of really good beer, I find that this is my new favorite place to meet up with friends around the fire pit or other fun spots they have. Sorry, Russian River!
