Sometimes, even in the best of Companies, things go haywire. What matters is how ta deal with it when things go wrong. I've been a customer of these folks since they worked out of the storage space they had in Concord in the late 90's. Never had a bad customer experience until my last order, which was kind of a catastrophe. I can honestly say is that they stood up with square shoulders and admitted the mistake, made it right, and even involved high level management to make sure everything got corrected. In fact, they went way over the top. At almost every level of the organization, I was soured that their leadership was passionate about the customer experience. Getting a bit rare nowadays. I'm sure we've all had the customer callbacks full of excuses and how it was your fault, not theirs. Except for a few singular employees, (those at fault for the error), I never heard anything but figuring out how to solve the issues. Everyone understands leadership commitment to customer. If you are thinking about your next purchase, and customer service is important to you, you can't go wrong from working with these folks. Great Company! Once inside, I found about everything needed to make my own stuff (maybe later) and a working "laboratory" in full small batch production swing. That slows service down a bit if they're in the middle of a step. For our first Christmas together, I bought my honey meat. Yes, meat. The freezer was full of delicious, juicy red meat from Omaha steaks. For our fourth Christmas together, I wanted to get him the supplies needed to brew his own beer. Which was really a gift for me too, right? I know what my man likes. Red meat and beer. I did all of my holiday shopping online this year and, although we live really close to their store, I found myself on the Beer, Beer and More Beer website to order a brewing kit. After exploring the different options, through their easy to use website, I decided to call my mother and see if my parents wanted to split the cost to buy a nicer kit. She jumped on the bandwagon without hesitation and my parents ended up buying the entire thing because my mom wanted it be from them. They have five starter kits ranging from $69 to $479. Kits #1 and #2 are "partial", meaning that you may need to pick up a few other items to be ready to brew. Kits #3 - #5 are all complete and include everything one would need to brew up their first batch. Placing the order online was super easy and the shipment went out quickly. Everything was included and packaged well. The kits really do include everything you need to start brewing that day. The first round of beer was a basic pale ale and really good. It's always good to have a backup plan. Or at least some kind of backup option. Although More Beer isn't within my normal circle of travel, that's how I ended up. It was brew day & my homebrew partner informed me we needed 1 more pound of a not too unusual malt + a packet of a pretty unusual yeast. More Beer had both in stock. So I drove a little out of my way to come get it. When I 1st walked in, staff was pretty engaged with what seemed like a couple regulars. It took a little while to get their attention. Once I got some help, however, everything went smoothly & quickly. Staff gave me the rundown on how weighing & milling malts is self-serve. & the yeast was easy to find in their cooler. Although it took a while to get our gear when we went in to pick up the keg (a good sign, though, the place was totally packed on Friday afternoon, presumably in anticipation for all the parties later that evening...) the store manager was very friendly, walked us through how to use their keg, how the tap went in, etc, etc.... (I, for one, hadn't really had to deal with a keg since college) The beer was spot-on good... cool, refreshing Anchor Steam. Spent more than $5000, and was very disappointed with their service. Items committed to be delivered required multiple reminders and were delayed 2 months. And the delivery was missing items which caused additional delays. I even lost about $400 of my own money when I gave up on these guys and went ahead and procured my own supplies from other vendors. Today I found out that the CO2 canister delivered with my purchase was close to it's expiration date, and to refill it now I need to pay an additional fee with the vendor. I generally avoid leaving negative reviews, but these guys have certainly pushed me to do this. Only reason I give 2 stars is because their selection is excellent. Something that always impresses me about a business is when they talk you *out* of spending money. I needed a new brew kettle, as I was embarking into the heady world of all-grain brewing. So I wanted a 10 gallon pot to accommodate all that tasty, tasty wort. Armed with a gift certificate to B3, I trucked out to Concord, where I'd heard tales of this place. My choices were a 15 gallon pot, and an 8 gallon pot. Giving it thought, and considering that the 15 gallon ones were on sale, I went big. Then I saw the size of it, and immediately questioned myself. I could fit in the damn thing. I chatted to the helpful chap behind the counter, and listened to me weighing the pros and cons. Finally he introduced sense. "Look, the sale on the 15 gallon is a great deal, but if you're going to be sticking to five gallon batches - and I personally do, since I never want to be stuck drinking the same beer for two months at a time - the 8 gallon is more than enough for you, and cheaper too." Sold. They've got a great selection of stuff to boot. Not as well stocked with ingredients as Brewcraft, but they do have a walk in fridge WELL stocked with ready-packaged recipe kits to grab and take home - at outstanding prices. Great selection of keg equipment, as well as lots of stuff for winemaking. I love the rush I get when I walk into Beer, Beer and More Beer!! There is so much equipment laid out for you to peruse that you get the feeling that maybe you missed your calling as a brewer. With the help of an employee to pick out whatever brewing kit you need (beer, wine, coffee, soda) you can rush home and get your brew on in a matter of hours. There's everything you need for advanced or beginning brewing. Because I once made a Mr. Beer kit I consider myself an expert but I still really appreciated the help of Corey who let me, Erin S, and Akkis M build our own beer brewing kit. He walked us through the whole setup and brewing process while pointing out the needed equipment. One of the best parts of making your beer is standing in front of the big refrigerators choosing which grains and hops packet you want to make your new favorite beer. It's a crazy adventure. This place is so unbelievably awesome. For first time brewers like myself, my hubby, & Holly B, it was a great place to gather information & buy our very first home brewing kit. We came in on a recent Saturday all ready to brew, with limited knowledge, & with no supplies at all. Luckily they have starter kits that make it a snap to get started. Cory helped us out & walked us through the whole process, giving us options & prices for everything. We chose our starter kit (less than $200) and then tried to choose our beer type. So many the choose from! Pilsner? Amber? Nut Brown? Stout? They've got it all. This place really gets you excited about beer. Cory made sure we had everything we needed to go home & whip up a batch of beer that day. I was merely a spectator, but it was fun watching the brewing process. Wow, the worst costumer service that I have experienced in years. I placed an order close to Xmas and according to their website, they said they would have it delivered on time. Okay, they didnt. I paid for express shipping and they stated that they would not credit my account for the extra shipping charge. The costumer service employee I spoke to on the phone said that the manager said that I should have known that they would not be making deliveries on the 23rd. Right. How I am supposed to know. Well. After getting some bad info from my old LHBS I decided to come here on a long trek from Fremont during rush hour. It was quite a distance from where I live. I came in to find ALL kinds of things I've never had at my other LHBS. Better, fresher, more of them. I was doing my first all-grain and had never had to mill my own grain. I asked the guy at the register, "so I've never had to use the mill before, how to I adjust the crush?" Without looking up he told me, "its not adjustable." Ok, "so should i put all the grains in 1 bag or separate so you can ring em up?" I don't remember what he said but the attitude was very much of "this would be a great place to work if it weren't for all these annoying customers." Very squidward-ish. 15 minutes later he was a bit more helpful and asked if I had any questions. I'd still come here but that wasn't the best first impression. read more

Perhaps I'm the only person who has had a bad experience. My wife ordered me a deluxe beer brewing kit for Christmas. Lots of boxes showed up, I was happy and put them away until a later date when I could play with my new toys. A month or so later I realized almost everything was missing. Multiple attempts by Morebeer to get everything to me, finally everything has arrived, mostly unbroken... In the meantime I have taken a class to make beer and my wife took a class to make wine. With the kit all my wife needed to make wine was a bucket and 6 gallon carboy so I want to a local store and got what she needed. Got home and realized Morebeer had sent me a 6 gallon instead of 5... I wasn't going to write a review but they went above and beyond to give terrible service. The girl who handles this stuff was nice enough to give me attitude and insinuate it's my fault for not realizing sooner that they had messed up. 60 day hassle free return policy is not exactly hassle free. I recently made a purchase of a product that many online stores carry, and because I was unsure if the specific product would fit my needs, I ultimately chose More Beer because of the aforementioned return policy. Despite all the online research I did on the product, I wasn't able to really get an idea of how it would suit me until I had it in front of me. Well, turns out the product was not for me. After submitting a return form request, I expected to receive return shipping labels. Instead I received a return address to California and was told that I am expected to pay return shipping. Return shipping is between $40-$50 which is 1/3 of my total purchase price. That's a hassle. Even though the product shipped from Pennsylvania, good ol' Keith informed me that the company was based in CA and that I would have to ship it there, even though shipping to PA warehouse would save me about $25. This stipulation should be very clear on their website under the returns FAQ. I understand the uncertainties that come along with buying products online, but these major suppliers are putting the local guys out of business, so you would think that they would be more apt to eat the cost of return shipping to ensure a strong customer base. Overall I feel like the customer service reps plain don't care, and if that's how you want to run your business thats fine, but I for one will not be making any future purchases with this company, nor will I recommend them to anybody, and will definitely be sure to clarify their hassle free return policy to everybody for them. read more

This company has quite a few products, particularly in the "equipment" or "gadget" genre. They're also fairly active in the Homebrewing community and do a lot of advertising on The Brewing Network. The pricing is average to high for most items. They do a "deal of the day" everyday that is often a decent deal if you're looking for that one particular item on that day. They have a free shipping option for orders over $59, but unless you have a LOT of time to wait, that option isn't a great one. I've ordered from them online 2 different times using this option. It took 6 days the first time, and 7 days the 2nd time for my order to leave their facility. They advertise 2-4 business days, which is quite a long time to get around to fulfilling an order, but even 2-4 days is faster than my experience with them. My personal opinion is that free shipping options shouldn't significantly delay the fulfillment of the order. Obviously, it's going to ship with the cheapest (i.e. slowest) option through the post office or UPS, but that shouldn't delay how quickly they get the items out the door. In today's day and age, online ordering should be fulfilled within a day, or two at the latest, regardless of how expensive of a shipping option you choose. Your opinion and expectations may be different, so I thought I would share mine in case you agree. There are a lot of alternatives out there for online homebrew supplies and equipment, so look around and try ordering from different companies. Midwest Supplies always gets orders out immediately, so check with them if you're looking for an alternative. Depending on what you're ordering, even with shipping they may come out cheaper. read more
