Don't know why Its necessary to get the third degree when trying to purchase cigars. Two gentlemen walk in after me and get first class service and are allowed to stick their hand in their humidor. When it's my turn I'm asked "what do you want" and then doesn't let me get close then handed me cigars and walked me to the front to examine my id before and after scanning, then gets bags for the two gentleman at the other register while I'm standing in front. Just a tip, you don't need to wear a suit and look classy to enjoy a cigar. On a bright note they have a good selection and I enjoyed my cigars. read more

Everything is ~2x overpriced here. The minimum order (via Gopuff app) is increased to 12.95$ (prior tax/tip) and the delivery fee is 2.95$. You end up paying ~16$ for the items that are barely worth ~6$. Considering the 10$ Chase monthly credit for Gopuff purchases, I do not see any net credit or gain that the customers might receive. Buy a bottle, get the second for 5 cents? Yes, please!!! I recently posted a review about Powell's Sweet Shoppe--a candy shop. The BF calls BevMo the "adult candy shop"....totally appropriate. Their selection is gi-normous from vino, beers, spirits, and more. In addition, they carry a good stock of drinking snackies such as import cheese, olives, crackers, and Toblerone. Toblerone you ask? Heck, chocolate always compliments a good Cabernet. Depending on the store and day of the week, BevMo offers free tastings of their featured beverages. This past Saturday we sampled a few ports and a Spanish red. And yes, somehow I ended up walking out with a few bottles. This particular location is pretty small and parking is somewhat limited due to the large amounts of shops and restaurants nearby. I prefer the Camden location because it can rival the square footage of a Costco. Their nickel sales happen a few times a year and is a great way for us to restock our vino racks. Unfortunately for us, bottles never stay long at our house. But what's the use of wine if not to drink it? :) read more

This has to be the smallest Bev Mo ever. I have to say that I am shocked how much stuff is crammed into this little place. We were in the beer section looking at all the ales and lagers when some guy comes up and asks if we need. We asked some of his faves and he proceeded to educate us on a lot of beer stuff. I was so impressed. They had a special on some of the bottles of liquor too but I cannot remember the exact deal. Of course often they have the buy one bottle of wine get he other for .05¢. How awesome is that? I love this place and the beer man made it all the better! PS: They also have a lot of the single bottles and 12 packs in the fridge section of the store. read more

Dearest Bevmo, I generally am a huge fan of you, but will never visit this particular location again. It would be lovely if you'd hire employees who actually have people skills, rather than ones who bitch at every single person in line for no reason whatsoever, even when they're determinedly cheerful. That older lady who was running the cash register on the 3rd around 2pm? Yeah. She's incredibly unpleasant, which also makes her slow, because she's taking so much time to yell at each customer. You may want to give her a talking-to, or reassign her to other duties. I'm sure there are some numbers she could crunch, or a stockroom to which she could be relegated. I do not have ONE nice thing to say about this place... I used to come here every now and then but now I will never return. For my wedding anniversary I decided I would get my husband beer. No, not because I'm cheap (but I am) but because he LOVES beer. I knew he never even heard of San Miguel which was recommended to me by a coworker from the Philippines. Being that the hubby loves dark beer that's the one I was looking for out of the four that are produced. I called EVERYWHERE! This store was the only store (not just the only Bevmo) in San Jose that had the dark San Miguel beer. From what I understand it's not exactly the most popular beer out there but there were also issues with the distributor making it even more scarce. Anyway...this store had it! SCORE! I ask the guy on the phone to put it on hold for me. He doesn't ask my name so I volunteer it. I tell him I will be there in the evening and he confirms that it is not an issue. I spend 15 minutes looking for parking. It's a busy time for Willow Glen. Beer is not on hold. Cashier is a lazy idiot who ignored me and other customers. I had to ASK her to ring me up. Another lazy employee just brings me a case of San Miguel beer. I buy it trusting he brought me the beer requested. I don't know ONE thing about beer. The next day I learned it was the exact opposite of what I asked for. Jerkface. To add insult to injury the cashier did NOT ID me. DO YOU KNOW HOW OLD AM I? I am ID checking worthy. When I told her my age she laughed at me. ARE YOU SERIOUS! DO I LOOK OLDER THAN FORTY?! My MOTHER is in her 40's. Where was this lame cashier when I was underage? This is definitely one of the smaller BevMo locations out there. The selection is still what you'd expect of BevMo, just on a slightly smaller scale. A typical weekend for me involves wandering into this location, perusing the beer selection and finding a new and interesting brew to take home. Prices on spirits and wine are definitely competitive and it helps to have a BevMo card to save even more. With check-ins using the Yelp app I'm now the "Duke" of this location and the Fremont store. My dad's had a BevMo card dangling off his keys forever. Last time he was in town, I invited him over to my place. We went on a walk and then I was letting him inside and he noticed my keys. "Oh, you have a BevMo card too!" he said excitedly. "No dad, that's a Border's card!" And my dad marveled at how an intelligent and lovely daughter such as myself could come from an alcoholic father. Parking at this BevMo is a bit tight and the store is long and narrow, but Daniel Garcia deserves a 10! Daniel was very pleasant when we ordered the four kegs for my daughter's wedding this past Saturday (Oct 12, 2019). He also followed up on the day of the delivery. It wasn't the best experience. There's a women, brunette, maybe the manger, pretty rude. It's corona times I get it, so she placed my change on the counter. Where as I placed it in her hand. I asked for a bag, she grabs the bag and hands it to me. I'm not too familiar with BevMo but I would assume if a customer purchased a large quantity or heavy items, it would be bagged. I asked her do they not bag the items there, she replied I would if you asked me, but I did. I didn't have time to confront her any further, but I will never go back. Good selection but Wilfred Wong's reviews can bite my a$$. Seriously, the guy will give a 90 for any swill someone throws in his trough. Sorry, just pissed off cause I wasted enough $$$ for wines he should be ashamed of touting. So that being said, ignore their in-house sommelier Wilfred Wong's recommendations (cause I'm not kidding the same rating for the two buck chuck as for a chateau la tour. ok, that's probably not accurate, but it COULD be). Also, I've learned from being a sucker before to completely avoid their inventory clearing scam of the 5 cent sale too. I've never found a wine that was worth half the price they were charging that was on one of these sales. Disappointing to know you've just cleared out their undrinkable stuff. This particular BevMo however has a nice selection of tequilas, whiskey, and grappas as well as wine. Their beer is not competitively priced however and I think that's a mistake - its worth it to me to go to Cherry liquors at Willow and Bird for beers. I also get a little annoyed that the Lincoln avenue entrance is usually blocked. But there's almost always parking in the back, so thats good. Nice staff - very helpful. BevMo is just a business nothing special. You go in buy alcohol and leave. The staff is limited and the higher end hard alcohols are locked up, so you end up waiting for someone roughly 3-5 minutes. Then they carry the precious bottle to the register. I go there mainly for the 5 cent wine sale. It great. They used to let you mix and match higher priced wines, but "their policy changed" as I was informed. I'm sorry trying a wine at $40 a bottle and your making me get two? I liked when I could purchase two different ones on the sale. So if your looking to try wines, go to Safeway. Safeway often runs a 10% off with purchasing 6 bottles and an additional 30% off with club card. You can mix and match any. They have competitive prices. I left BevMo today with 2 1/2 cases of wine, no longer excited about the 5 cent sale. read more

The short: One of the smallest BevMo's I have ever seen. At least they have the basics and some. The long: Out in Willow Glen for the weekend and after dinner I wanted to grab a little something to take back to the hotel to continue the adult beverage consumption. Imagine how pleased I was to find when I wandered on a BevMo halfway down the block. I wandered in and what did I find? I had just made a wrong turn into someone's closet. Yup it is that small. On the plus side there is just about every kind of booze you would want there, even if there is not every brand you may want. You will also find inside employees who are more than happy to help your find whatever it is that you are particularly after. Sure it isn't the regular giant BevMo monster store, but the staff makes up for it. What works: A wide range of products to choose from. What to improve: Parking sucks but hey it's the part of town you are in. read more

All BevMo's are the same, I'm just picking on the one on Lincoln Ave in Willow Glen. It's just a liquor store with overly bright lights and loud music. I find the wine selections to be bland. The 5-cent sales seem like a bargain until you bring the wines home and realize that the original price was too high, so they're dumping what they had. The Wilfred Wong reviews are a gimmick that has always annoyed me. Everything is "86" to "91" points. Ever had a 75, Wilfred? Even once? Where'd you come up with that point scale? His comments never match up with the quality of the wine, in my opinion, and they deserve to be ignored. read more

I think Bev Mo is fantastic... and I actually have a family wine business. I iike the Wilfred Wong reviews... I guess he is one of only 170 master sommeliers in the world and Bev Mo has him on staff. His ratings match my pallet well. There are a bunch of wines that are 90+ points and under $15... woo hoo! I also like that they have a few exclusives where they apparently bought out the entire production. Also incredibly convenient with the parking in the back and very nice staff. Haven't tested their knowledge but I just scour the store based on price and rating... and the signage is pretty informative. read more

The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend stopping in even if just to peruse the wines on sale. If you are in the mood for a stroll, this Willow Glen store is one of many in the quaint neighborhood. Parking is located in the back of the store. How, you ask? Here's the down low. Pros: - Willow Glen pretty much speaks for itself. Cute neighborhood. - Lots of shopping to the left, right, and across the street. - Some items that are consistently found at all local Bevmos. - Shorter, quicker lines. - Staff are busy, but happy to help. - Parking lot in the back if you're having trouble finding parking on the street. - Smaller means less rummaging. Cons: - Their stock is less than other stores (because it's smaller), so they haven't had my Rumpleminze a couple times I've stopped by. - Shorter hours. - Parking *might* suck. I prefer the Blossom Hill or Tomas Expressway shops to this one. But it DOES have a quaint atmosphere. This particular location wasn't as big as ones I had seen in photos previously and my friend said they didn't have quite as wide a selection as other BevMo!s, but I was impressed regardless and they did the job when it came to picking up some liquor and beer. read more

Small but cozy.. I think the guy who was working here thought me and my friend were crazy because we had just come from Tlaquepaque and downed a few Chevalas! We actually stopped by here because we saw they had a wine tasting going on. We had 5 minutes left! Never been to a BevMo outside of the city, but this one was a bit smaller than most I've been to, but very organized. There's a front and back door which is great for those who park in the lot or on streets. The service was friendly and super helpful when I asked for champagne suggestions. Nice neighborhood liquor store with a decent selection for being smaller than most bevmos. The aisles are a little tight but manageable. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a parking lot behind the store, which I use if I'm getting a lot of stuff. I have been to the Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Camden, and brand new Blossom Hill Bevmos; I have tried Bevmo.com; I went to the Los Altos and Cupertino Whole Foods, which are renowned for their beer selection; I even called City Beer in San Francisco (who gave me a name of a shady-sounding liquor store in Berkeley, and that's when I was about to throw in the towel). Then today on a whim, I decided to look up the numbers for all the other South Bay and Peninsula Bevmo's on Yelp and start calling around. The first one I tried was the Willow Glen location, which-silly me !-I totally forgot existed. The phone was answered promptly, and I barely had to explain myself when I asked for Celebrator Dopplebock, from Ayinger (this was quite a relief after one of the guys at Whole Foods had looked it up in their inventory under "Celebrater Double pock"...wtf!). I was OVERJOYED when the salesclerk on the phone informed me that they had thirteen precious little bottles, so I raced over and on the way through the door, forgot to grab a handbasket. Another clerk was stocking the tequila (which faces the beer: this place is quite small) and handed me the box he had just emptied so that I could carry my loot (seriously, they do customer service right at this place). I proceeded to tell him about my attempt to find this beer, and how excited I was that they had it. He smiled at me like, Okay Beer Lady, get a real hobby. But I do have other hobbies. I just can't share them here. Anyway, I bought six bottles and the total was a little over $18. I know that seems kind of expensive, especially for only six 12-ounce bottles. But it's a 6.7% beer so in alcoholic value, it's more like I bought eight Fat Tires, ten Guinness Drafts, or four Chimay Bleues. Justifying my purchase means I'm an addict, doesn't it? Hmm... well I am giving this 4 star power cause the place is small. had trouble finding it. also had to park on the street cause i missed the driveway to the parking lot in the back of the store. You can miss it cause again it's a small inlet. The only reason I went hear is that I've been trying to find the elusive Red Horse Beer ! ! Fellow yelpers suggested I try Bev mo and this is the only place that had them in stock. The staff that was working there was really great I had to call ahead and ask for directions to the place cause my GPS couldn't find the address maybe again cause the place was small I have no clue as to why it couldn't find the address. Alright finally find the place. Walk in and walked around and I couldn't find Red Horse. So I was saying to myself noo they don't have it I was starting to feel sad me having to come all this way and they don't have it in stock after all. I ended up asking the gal at the register and she was kind enough to show me where it was. What great service she even remember me as the person calling for directions. One fine Saturday afternoon about three weeks ago, we stumbled into the new Bevmo on Lincoln Ave. I was wondering if they carried the elusive Shaker Rose Vodka I have been looking for. As I expected, they don't carry it. However, the narrow aisles of this lovely lure of libations does carry quite a bit for such a mini location. They even had twenty five cent wine tasting the day we swung by! Friendly Bevmovian Fred poured generously from five (or was it six?) unheard of labels and we tasted with assorted cheese and chocolate accompaniments which was swell on the palate. We unexpectedly opted for a bottle of chardonnay and sloshed the rest of the grape juice down the spittoon as it wasn't worth a mid day hang. Nice upside sale, Fred! read more

i walked into this place with my bf, and his cousin and my boyfriend and me grabbed what we got in line to pay and they guy rang up all our items and THEN asked for ID so my bf showed him his ID because i had left mine at home, then he asked for my bf;s cousin's ID....and we he didn't have one cause he was underage but he was just accompanying us so he denied us service because he said that we touched the bottles with no ID so he couldn't sell it to my boyfriend.....can you say UNFAIR? these people are ridiculous so does that mean all the people with kids that walk in there are denied service also because their kids play with the different bottles?! read more

Very upset with my recent experience walking into this Bevmo. I was carded as soon as I walked in, there was other customers younger than I that did not get carded. While looking for a wine to gift for someone one of the employees would just stare at me with my girlfriend. The other employee stocking was just cursing the whole time didn't even ask us if we needed help. I've been to many bevmos and this is the worse experience. I enjoy going to this Bevmo. It's close to my house, the staff are nice and they usually have exactly what I'm looking for. Today, they lost my business. Here is why... I was in line about to pay for my groceries and some stupid lady walked in with her DOG!
