This is the first Better Buzz location I visited when Better Buzz started to pop up in North Orange County. My friends raved about Better Buzz and their drinks, especially the Best Drink Ever®. Due to the hype, I decided to try it out when I was in the area. Best Drink Ever® (hot and iced) My first visit was through the drive thru. There were only two cars ahead of me, but it took quite a long time to get through the drive thru, about 15+ minutes. I was really considering backing up, parking, and walking in to order but then another car pulled up right behind me. The employee was very friendly and upbeat. Even though I had signed up for the rewards program prior to my first visit, they could not locate my account when I pulled up to the window. For the first time, I ordered the Best Drink Ever® (hot). I was not blown away by the drink, nor the cost of the drink. On my second visit, I decided to park and walk in to order since my first experience with the drive-thru was not very efficient. It is very spacious on the inside. I decided to give the Best Drink Ever® a try, but this time easy iced. Overall, it tasted a bit better than when I ordered it hot, but it still oversells the name Best Drink Ever®. It is not the Best Drink Ever, and the price is too high for what it tastes like. I have now tried 3 drinks and 1 sandwich from Better Buzz, and from 2 separate locations (one down in Encinitas). I cannot recommend their coffees, their Better Breakfast Sandwich was delicious last time I ordered down in Encinitas. Maybe I am just not ordering the "right" drink, but with a name like Best Drink Ever®, how could one even get this wrong? If you order on the inside (at least at the Placentia location), there are stickers near the register for its customers. There were some parking spots near the store, but they were a bit narrow. I just do not understand the hype of Better Buzz. Overall, support a local, independent coffee shop. It will taste better, and may be even cheaper. read more

I really wanted to understand the hype around Better Buzz because I pass by it all the time, so I gave it a fair shot, three separate times. Unfortunately, I still don't get the "buzz." The coffee just isn't coffee-forward at all. Every drink I've tried has tasted flat, bland, watered down, and strangely cheap. The best comparison I can think of is a Coke that's been left sitting out with the cap off for days - technically you can still tell what it's supposed to be, but all the life and flavor are gone. All their drinks lack richness or depth. Even the vanilla syrup tastes super cheap, unlike true vanilla bean flavor. You are better off getting a $1 latte from McDonald's, because they are comparable. 1 star for being extremely quick, but maybe this is what contributes to their cheap-tasting coffee (pre-made). read more

Bottom Line Up Front: Better Buzz is a Southern California coffee chain that delivers delicious beverages, excellent customer service, and an overall experience that makes it feel like a mom-and-pop shop. The Drinks: I got the Best Drink Ever. That's not an exaggeration, that's literally the name of the coffee. It's a classic americano with creamy vanilla. Does that make it the best ever? No, but it was tasty ... though, I ordered half sweet and it was still more sugary than expected. Since I ordered it hot, I saved half in the fridge and then served it on ice later to dilute the sweetness. My wife got an iced White Chocolate Mocha, which was delicious. She also got it half sweet and it was well balanced, perhaps because it was already iced. The Service: I've been here a few times and the staff is always super friendly, very knowledgable, and quite accommodating. Unlike other places where it can be hit and miss or straight-up incompetent, Better Buzz always has, well, better service. Props to the management for proper training and good judgement when hiring. The App: Despite being a regional chain, Better Buzz has a superior mobile app than many international companies. It's simple to use, easy to read, and even provides me with random coupons, deals, and even a free drink from time to time. The Prices: While the cost of coffee has skyrockted everywhere since the pandemic, the prices here aren't exorbitant. Cheap? No. But also not a ripoff. In a world where a "fancy" coffee is now $8, but it's a relief to see at least one brand keeping regular-sized drinks around the $5-to-$6 range. The Location: This particular shop is easy to access off of Imperial Highway, but only if you're going westbound, as it's an easy right turn. However, if you're going eastbound, you'll have to turn left across three lanes of busy traffic to access the entrance to the plaza where Better Buzz is located. The same problem exists when leaving the plaza. Fortunately, there's plenty of parking throughout this commercial strip mall. The Setting: The interior is clean, well organized, and nicely decorated with just the right amount of decor. There are plenty of tables to choose from and the seats are comfortable. The Conclusion: Unlike a certain Seattle-based franchise, Better Buzz is a local chain that offers great drinks at reasonable prices with excellent customer service that doesn't make you feel like just another number. read more

It was not bad, just wasn't as creamy and cinnamon-y like the ones I've had. So I will say that their Horchata Latte is a lighter version of this drink. They do give a pretty heavy scoop of ice, which I was like I should've told them less, but it didn't make it taste any less horchata-y. Counter service was okay, though the staff was just talking with one another and guy I ordered my drink with almost missed my espresso shot in my drink, until his other co-worker told him my drink includes a shot. Thanks for catching that guy #2! One thing I did appreciate this coffee shop is that they have good seating space. I would return just for that. The staff is patient and helpful when explaining menu items, and they'll call out your name when your order is ready. *Best Drink Ever (iced): I had their classic vanilla iced coffee. It was delicious, and for me, was the perfect amount of sweetness while still letting the vanilla flavor come through. *Deluxe Avocado Toast: The deluxe avocado toast comes on multigrain bread and includes cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, microgreens, with a balasmic glaze drizzled on top. I understand that in any busy coffee shop, mistakes can happen especially when thousands of drinks are made every day. That's completely normal. Attended the invitation only Friends and Family event on 11/20/25. Located in Placentia where Chuck E Cheese is located. (Took over the Carls Jr spot). Great event with a wonderful and very cheery staff that handled the crowd really well. There was definitely a positive buzz going on! Employees were cheering and was very accommodating... all done with smiles! Unfortunately some people misunderstood this to be the grand opening but it's not until tomorrow. They tried to accommodate some who weren't on the list but had to turn people away at 11am to get ready for the next time slot but were very nice about it. It comes with greens, ripe cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and a balsamic drizzle. My barista (who was super friendly) recommended I add the hard boiled egg. Great choice. I love that the bread has a deliciously crunchy crust with a softly toasted center. This location is along busy Imperial Highway, in a stand alone building with great drive thru access. We went on their Grand Opening Day and decided to go through the drive thru so this review is only for that experience, and not their dine-in. I ordered a "Coconut Best Drink Ever" and the drink was yummy but definitely on the sweeter side of how I usually drink my coffee. Their festive holiday cups were also cute. It was very apparent it was their first day as service was not ideal. While in the drive thru, a worker was standing outside ready to take our order, but he hadn't even presented us with a menu. It was odd how they take your order before you get to the menu, but they don't even present you with a menu until you ask. The individual wasn't familiar with the items on the menu as he kept checking with the team for what items were available. The whole interaction seemed very confusing, but given that it was their grand opening, I wouldn't fault them for it (hence 4 stars for the coffee and because I like how there looks to be spacious indoor seating and a drive thru).
