Was on a company road trip today, where I was the driver, driving from Honesdale to White Haven. At the exit where we got gas, was Bettelli's Villa. We arrived and the door was locked. We called and they opened in a half-hour. I looked all around and every fast-food joint in the area was close by. Since it was my project and I was the driver, I said let's just take a break and wait the half-hour. Was so glad that we did. The door was now open, we were seated, and ordered two pizzas, some soups, and some garlic bread. It took us forever to place our order too, because we couldn't decide what to get and I had two project managers with me. No one could make a decision? A custom pie and Jess' Favorite or something like that. The pizza came out and my heart sank a bit... Thin crust pizza, which I'm not a fan of... I took the corner closest to me and couldn't be happier with that bite. Crispy bite with a thin layer of crispy dough with an amazing sauce. My mouth was tingling, feeling all of those flavors. Well worth the wait, and just an amazing bite. The two project managers ordered some pizza half-baked to take home with them, it was so good. Tough to rate. There were 13 of us for a college graduation and it's middle of nowhere PA. 5/5 accommodated a crowd, reasonable prices compared to expensive CT locations we frequent near the water. 4/5 reasonably good pizza, I know a low bar but I enjoyed it. 3/5 ok bathrooms, ok menu selections 2/5 super tired decor and parking lot needs some help 1/5 nothing on tap? That's weird. Beer can selection was terrible, bud & a few other mainstays, pizzeria next door has take out beer and a fabulous selection, I was tempted to bring some over. Normally I give pa and nj a break on their beer selections as they are routinely awful, but the place next door proved good beer is possible to find in wilks barre. Overall I think this winds up as a 3/5, it's overall fine and easy for them for lift into a 4/5 rating if they stock some better beer or if they literally have someone run next door to get a fringe beer. read more

I have been noticing lately their parking lot has been full on a nightly basis, it's been a long time since I have dined at the restaurant. So, knowing they have tripe, I have had a "hankering " for such. No disappointment here. Outstanding!!! Super tender in a light meat sauce. I love tripe and I am always looking for a good spot. Well my search is over!! I ate at the bar and had a delightful experience. My server Jaylynn was absolutely fantastic. She was such a pleasure to meet and was ever so attentive and friendly. The food was great but however. The service sucked. It took us an hour and a half to get our food. And my one friend asked if he can get a military discount.And the lady told him no straight up no. After we got our drinks and everything we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. Salad took twenty minutes to get served and bread if not longer. But our entrees, it took us an hour and a half to get our food. Because we asked the one waitress and says, excuse me, i'm sorry to be rude everything. But what's taken so long to get our food. And then she said, well, you're gonna have to bear with us. And it's obviously gonna be a long time for you guys to wait. Okay, no problem then after we got our foods and everything.Then, she asked us, would you guys like any dessert?Nope. No thanks. So we are kinda of glad we didn't get dessert. Because the food took long. Then, after that, she said to us, I'll put you guys together.And she told me that I was going to be on a separate check.What the whole twenty percentage thing. But you could have told us in the beginning When we first walked in. And I do understand you charge more on a card because I did use a card. And she did ask me, are you gonna tip. no. Why? Because our food took long now if it didn't take too long.I probably would tip. So I told her the truth. After we signed the papers and everything. I took the pen and said I am keeping it. After that, we left and said we are never coming back ever again. If anyone decides to go there, don't go there, you will regret it. While I didn't have time to visit Old Forge itself, Wilkes-Barre was the next best thing and along the way, so I stopped here to try this unique style of pizza. The place is run down, the booth seats were patched with duck tape and both my husband and I got glue residue on our clothing. The service is slow at its best. The only person there is a lady that is not only very slow, but kind of crabby. The pizza was ok and the pasta was not good. It was chewy and bland. We were wondering how come we never ate there before... is we know why will won't. It's a shame because the building has an interesting design, needs a remodel and better food and service. read more

Our family had a funeral reception at Bettelli's Villa and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Jessica, the owner, opened early on a Saturday to accommodate the hours we needed. She was also very flexible with the food offerings and provided items that weren't on their menu. All of our guests commended how nice everything was setup and the relaxing atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We'd like to thank them all for making our get together a joyful memory. read more

Betelli's has been serving up my favorite pizza since I was a kid! It's unlike any pizza you have ever had. Perfect squares of happiness. The crust has just the right amount of crispness, the blend of cheeses works well with the ever so slightly chunky tomato sauce. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed ! read more

First off, the smell of death and mold and whatever else it can be that greets you as soon as you open the door is a deterrent enough. It hits you in the face. And I begged my mom to leave. It was my first time here. And we enjoyed their pasta, meat sauce, marinara. BUT MY GOD, THE SERVICE IS BAD. We received our food quickly. But after that our waitress, and there were 2 of them, and a third sat behind a bar that had no people at it, did not come back to our table. We had to flag them down or make serious eye contact. Once for some extra sauce. And then we waited like forever to get our check. At one point all three of the girls were sitting at the bar talking to each other and on their phones. We had a very nice dinner at Bettelli's on this past Saturday evening to celebrate our granddaughter's graduation from Marywood University. We were pleasantly surprised and so pleased with our experience. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and highly experienced as she handled serving seven people at our table and attending to our needs. The food was very good, from appetizers and entries. The only reason I didn't give a five star rating was one of the deserts wasn't what we expected for a cheesecake. The filling was not creamy, but dense and lacked a flavor. It was encrusted with an Apple Jack cereal crust, which was much better than the filling. Over all, we were happy with our server, the entrees, the atmosphere, and the courteous staff. I rely on Yelp to help me find decent places to eat while I am traveling either for business or with family. I really try to avoid chain restaurant & try to support local, family owned businesses. I thought this would be a nice place to try, Yelp let me down. This place really deserves only 1 star, because the customer service is so bad, but because the food was good I gave it a 2. Apparently you either need to be a local regular, or you need a reservation to get a table here. We were waiting for about 20 minutes for a table, behind another party, when a third party without a reservation came in & got seated before both us. After we were seated we saw at least 5 other tables that were empty & remained empty the entire time we were there. Almost 30 minutes we had waited for a table. Waitress brought us drinks, dinner & our check, never checked on us. Maybe we would have appreciated the privacy except during dinner a 2" millipede looking bug fell from the ceiling into my daughters dinner. We could not find the waitress to address this with. After it sat in her dish for about 5 minutes it crawled out of the dish & we killed it! The table next to us said something to their waitress who just looked at it & scooped it up. No apology! Another woman, I assume either manager or owner (tall blonde) came up to us to explain that they leave their doors open in the cooler weather & that bugs sometime get in. She tried to make a joke by saying "I assume you don't want to box this then?" No apology! Our waitress brings our check, no apology from her either, but tells us "since she ate some it, they are taking half of the price of the meal." Still no apology! I have been all over the East Coast, never have I had a bug fall into a dinner plate while we eating. Any place I have ever had a concern (and I can only think of one)!was addressed much more professionally than this. 3 meals, $70, not a single apology for a bug falling into my daughters food. People stay away. I should have listened to my wife & went to the Olive Garden instead. read more

I have never been to Bettelli's Villa, but growing up in the area, I was always curious. Well, I took my nine year old son there tonight and it was absolutely delicious. I seriously can't wait to go back! We ordered New England Clam Chowder, Italian style steamed clams and plain pizza. The chowder was full of fresh whole clams, chopped potatoes and was really tasty. The clams looked like they came out of a magazine, with fresh chopped garlic, stewed tomatoes, fresh parsley and more. Seriously- so good. The pizza was really unlike any other NEPA pizza I've had. It's the perfect combination of the best of both worlds- aka triangle and square. Perfect amount of cheese and sauce with a crispy element to the crust. There were three homemade soups, a full menu, a pizza special menu, along with full menu filled with traditional Italian meals. I highly recommend! read more

My mother and I were looking for place have dinner Saturday night. Every chain restaurant in the arena plaza had over hour wait. We came across this place. I have heard of it I have never been there. Things happen for a reason because it was absolutely delightful. Old world style restaurant, something out of the Rat Pack era. We had the chicken marsala which was for sure homemade! I see some post say the service was slow well if you want fast food go to a fast food restaurant if you want good quality food and don't mind waiting a few moments this is the place to be. The servers could not be nicer and it was Charming. I'm embarrassed that I have lived in this area so long and have not taken the time to try this out and only have spent high price dinners on chain restaurants. I'm giving Bettelli's 5 stars for the pizza. I'm old enough to remember the incredible Pizza Casa on Public Square, and it is amazing to be able to enjoy the same unique and delicious pizza as an adult. I've brought countless guests here to sample it, and everyone agrees: it is the best! Real chunky tomatoes in the sauce, flavorful cheese, and a crust that's halfway between regular and Sicilian, crunchy and slightly charred on the bottom. Looking for some well cooked, traditional Italian fare? Stop in! You will get homey service in an aging decor, a full, proper Italian menu, and an individually prepared, simple meal from fresh ingredients. I am simple when it comes to Italian food. I *always* try spaghetti marinara on my first visit to an Italian restaurant. Since the gravy (marinara) is the key to everything else (almost), I can learn all I need to know from this simple dish. Now I think al dente noodles are ridiculous. Something dreamed up by some gourmand who hopes to seem impressive by eating food that gets stuck in his teeth. Nevertheless there is a definite firmness that I look for in pasta, but no stickiness. The starch needs to be express from the noodles. If I am cooking noodles myself, I look for the head to form in the pasta pot. I have had a dozen or more good Italian chefs tell me the same thing. At this stage the noodles are invariably beyond al dente, but are still firm. In other words-perfect. That is the way my noodles arrived. The gravy itself was dense and had a strong texture. Not runny and watery like those pseudo-Italian chains serve it. The sauce was not too acidic yet still tangy. The garlic bread was cut and toasted garlic bread with butter and olive oil and crushed garlic. Fresh parsley rounded out the pasta. Parsley is not a garnish. It belongs there. Eat it! As I said the service was excellent, friendly, attentive, unobtrusive. I will be eating there again my next visit to W-B. I look forward to it. read more

Service was unbearably slow. Despite a half-empty restaurant, it took 20 minutes for a waitress to even come over. We placed our orders right away, and it took another 15 minutes for drinks, and then 40 minutes for the food (pizza). The pizza was okay, but not worth the wait. Also, it was pretty expensive for just a couple of beers and pizza. I'd take my business elsewhere. There are far greater pizza places in NEPA. read more

While passing through the area, we tried to eat at The Dough Company, but didn't feel like waiting 15-20 minutes after a long day's drive. Seeing Bettelli's next door, we impulsively decided to try it, despite the parking lot being nearly empty. We should have left as soon as we caught a whiff of the vile stench of this place. Seriously, this place was truly disgusting. I've been to Bettelli's numerous times through the past ten years or so (both take-out and dine-in). The pizza is amazing. Again: the pizza is amazing. It's not a traditional round pie, but is cut in rectangles. In addition, the pasta dishes are also very good. Neither I nor my dining-companions have had a bad meal here. Service has also been top notch. The dining room is pretty quiet (even when it's busy), so it's not the best place for an intimate conversation - unless you're off in a corner. read more

I wanted to like it.... I love family owned places! We wanted Italian so we headed to Bettellis, where we were told to sit wherever we'd like we sat in the bar area. waitress didn't read us the specials until we asked, then took a decent amount of time to come back and take our order, not crazy long but it wasn't prompt. I wanted the Veal saltimboca and that came with a house salad which I ordered Caesar dressing for which cost 1.00 more and was not good even though you could tell it was home made just not tasty, my meal came out and it tasted like it could have been microwaved, not saying it was but it was chewy and not a good texture. I get veal pretty often at the Cafe and I guess I was spoiled by that bc this was just not comparable. The side of spaghetti tasted like boxed pasta and jar sauce... overall disappointing. Ordered a margarita and waited at least 20 mins for it as I watched the bartender clear tables bring glasses to the back and chat with other customers, once I got it I wish I hadn't because it was too strong, I'm not 21 I'm not drinking to get drunk! Just overall never again! Everything was disappointing from the food to the service, would go elsewhere with my money like bistro on the ave, or even Olive garden would have been better. shocked bc of the other reviews! read more
