Dirty hotel room

Hands down the most disgusting, unprofessional, and shady hotel I've ever stayed in. If you're even thinking about booking here--don't. The room was a horror show: absolutely filthy, with layers of dust thick enough for someone to write vulgar, offensive words on the fireplace and windows. It was beyond gross--it was sickening. The linens were stained, smelled awful, and clearly hadn't been washed. We had no choice but to go out and buy clean bedding ourselves just so our kids wouldn't have to sleep in that filth. I wouldn't let a stray dog sleep in that bed. The staff were openly rude and useless, and Manager Steve is one of the nastiest people I've ever dealt with in hospitality. Completely unprofessional, full of attitude, and made it clear he didn't care about our complaints or experience at all. He acted like we were the problem, not the moldy hellhole he's running. To top it all off, someone at the hotel changed the phone number and email on my rewards account attached to the reservation--so we didn't get any of our loyalty points or benefits. Convenient, right? They completely dodged responsibility when confronted. This place is a scam wrapped in filth, run by people who shouldn't be anywhere near customer service. Avoid at all costs. I wouldn't stay here again if it were the last hotel on Earth.

Stain on pillow and it doesn't look decent.

Had a reservation paid for a room with a fireplace. Checked in at 4:15 and they had none currently available but the cleaning staff hadn't all checked in. So we could take a regular room or come back later. Really? So I said it's after 4 when is she due to check in? --Oh she should have already. Give her a call! -- I did already. "Sorry for the inconvenience" So we get our room. Pillow has a stain. Never again. Such a disappointment and gross.

Only bad thing about this hotel was the eggs, sausage, and bacon at breakfast were watery and not very warm. That said, there were several other unique additions to the standard breakfast, including extra toppings for packaged yogurt and waffles that made it fun. Best part was we got there and the receptionist offered a room change upgrade to a bigger room with a fireplace and it was so cozy. The bathroom was large and clean. Oh, the pillows were oddly square and smaller than usual. But otherwise, very happy here.

Room after settling in ( Changed rooms 2 hours later when I found dead bird behind my bed)

This is the WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed in. I have a traveling job and stay in hotels regularly. This place is so FILTHY and the workers are INCOMPETENT. My employer reserved 4 different rooms for 4 days. The first thing we all notice is the lack of security at the hotel. The rooms are not in one building. Depending on your room, you may have to exit one building to get to the next. The issues for me is that anyone can walk into any building because a room key card is not needed to get in any building. I was in room 415... THIS IS A WARNING. If you ever get ROOM 415. RUN!!! This room is considered a suite because of the jacuzzi... the first thing I noticed was the room temperature. IT WAS FREEZING... the heat was not working but I was able to turn on the fireplace. The fireplace didn't do much. I called the front desk and they basically told me that the hotel was booked. Once I realized I was stuck, I started to settle down. I took a shower and began to realize how filthy the room was in the bed area. The furniture look old and run down. Everything was random. I had two different types of rundown chairs. They even had a 6ft wooden table in the room. I then started to look around the bed. I always check beds for cleanliness and bed bugs. I wanted to check the dresser behind the bed before the mattress. I really felt uneasy and uncomfortable. I knew it was unlikely for the cleaning staff to clean this huge ass dresser behind the bed. Literally, it looks like they haven't clean it for months. For some reason, I decided to check BEHIND this dresser. That's when I found a DEAD BIRD... A FUCKIN DEAD BIRD... let me repeat my self.... A DEAD FREAKIN BIRD ....... it was literally a dead bird behind the dresser & bed. I called the front desk when I was able to get some light and took a picture. Remember , I called the desk several hours earlier tryin to switch rooms and they were booked. The maintenance staff changed my room once I told them about the dead bird. He immediately came to my room and I showed him the dead bird... his response.. "I wonder how that got back there" I kid you not! I was so pissed but I was so in shocked... that I had to laugh at his response.. SHIT WAS UNREAL!!! They end up moving me to room 418. There was a big difference in this room. The room was better but could of been cleaned more. I couldn't believe the filth in room 415. The furniture just seemed like they randomly put something together from the dumpster... the room was dusty and filthy.... and I just felt completely disgusted and uncomfortable! My other co-workers had issue with their rooms as well. My supervisor had live ants in his room. One co-worker had two beds and one had dog hair in the bed and the other had dead ants. My other co-worker had no issue but he felt like his room could of been cleaner. All the pictures I posted was in room 415. Pictures was taken after I settled in and found the dead bird. My supervisor tried to cancel the next 3 nights when he noticed the issues we were having in our rooms. YOU WOULD THINK... A DEAD BIRD WOULD BE ENOUGH TO CANCEL A RESERVATION... but NAH! The hotel stated that they will not cancel our reservation or give us REFUND.... For the second day because our belongings was still in the room. We did not have a problem getting our things. The issue was it was past check out time. Reservation was set for 9/25- 9/30. We checked in 9/25-9/26. We checked out ASAP! This hotel need to be reported and inspected. They should be ashamed of themselves! JUST TRIFLING!!! NASTY !!!

Nice Sunday night stay for a concert at Cornell. Located right down the street from the campus entrance. Did not stay for breakfast. Nice king suite with gas fireplace and lots of space - quite and clean on my stay. Buildings are at the end of a strip mall where 1/2 of the buildings are an annex for Cornell. There is a 24hr grocery there if you needed something or for some healthier food than a burger joint. Staff was pleasant at check-in/out but I had no other needs to tax them with. Great rate from Priceline!

Worst bed ever. It was like a bed spring on top of a second bed spring. Sink was clogged. Bathroom door doesn't close.

Dang, the traffic outside easily permeated the room I was in. Like it felt like staying in Manhattan it was so loud outside. Worse is I swear there is some sort truck route or nearby business that is truck-centric and they are all driving with empty beds that amplify the imperfections in the road -- just banging away all through downtown. I realize Marriott cannot control this, but for that reason, a lower rating.

After talking to us like we've never used a TV before and totally condescending he finally admitted that the internet at the hotel is terrible. And then they said we couldn't log into Netflix cause we didnt have a premium Netflix account cause the device doesn't support it. Basically they left it broken and said there was nothing they could do and were absolutely irritated that we even asked for the TV to work. We called the front desk to ask to speak with a manager and we were very calm and polite about it and they hung up on us. They gave us supplies for ONE cup of coffee for two people staying for two nights. We also had to pay for parking. For over $500/night I would expect a lot better service. I've had better service (and a working TV) at an $86/night Budget Hotel.

Parking right now (September…read more2026) is a pain because their main garage is closed so we had to schlep our stuff ~2 1/2 blocks. But still not too bad. Room was fine. Bathroom was fine. All were very clean. Our only complaint, literally, was the "barn door" thing between the room and bathroom, a large sliding door that actually does look kind of cool but is functionally completely worthless. Leaves a large gap so that other people in the room can hear everything going on inside the bathroom. I love my wife but I do NOT need to hear everything she is doing in there. And the reverse is true as well, probably more so since I probably make a lot more noise than she does. I wish the entire Hilton chain would just remove these types of doors altogether. And the breakfast spread was also very nice. Big with lots of variety. Barn door aside, we liked this hotel

So many good things about this place, but a few negatives that slightly marred the experience…read more First, the areas for improvement: 1.) none of the USB ports at the bedside tables worked. None of the four. It's a mild inconvenience, to be sure, but having to plug everything up on the opposite side of the room was a pain. 2.) my shower wasn't clean. It's a lovely big shower with a little ledge inside for sitting/shaving, but mine had crusted soap (I guess?) from a previous and stuck to the ledge, there was hair in the shower, and shampoo (I guess) on the walls. Neither the hair, nor the old shampoo were mine. 3.) I could have sworn I selected the option for breakfast being included. I paid $250 for the room. Turns out I was mistaken and had to pay for my breakfast. In the grand scheme of things not the worst thing in the world, but when you're paying $250 a night breakfast shouldn't be an additional charge. This is a Canopy property, so of course the decor is stunning. There's a lovely fireplace in the lobby, and from the light fixtures to the artfully displayed knick-knacks all over the property, this place reads luxury. A few good things: 1.) the employees. There's an airport shuttle from Ithaca, and when the manager, Charis, came to get me he was incredibly kind. He took my bag to the hotel and dropped me at a local restaurant so I could enjoy happy hour oysters, AND he came back an hour later to pick me up. SO kind. Sam in the restaurant made breakfast a delight. She moved quickly and pays attention to guest needs. Great response time and knowledgeable about the menu. 2.) there's a free shuttle for local stops near the hotel. This is honestly the reason I chose this location as opposed to any other, and this free shuttle availability saved me at least $100 on Ubers during my day/night in town. They really don't mind running you here and there, and it's a wonderful little treat. 3.) breakfast is great. I was torn between the Eggs Benedict or the Lox, and at Sam's recommendation I opted for the Eggs Benedict. GREAT choice. The hollandaise is delicious, the bacon is crispy, and the English muffin is perfectly toasted. Poached eggs are an art form as far as I'm concerned, and these are beautifully done. The breakfast menu here in general looks great, and if this dish is any indication, you likely can't go wrong. 4.) they're actively working to reduce plastics at this location. I love that there are glass bottles in the room that you can fill with ice and filtered water on every floor. Talk about intentional. Kudos on this front. 5.) getting a late check out was easy. 6.) the location is ideal for exploring the Commons, a pedestrian block of little places that's crawling with college kids. It's easy to walk to a local bar and have a quick drink, but be careful where you go...I went to the Chantillery (or some such nonsense), and they absolutely scammed me on the one drink I ordered. The good things about this place far out number the negative, but for $250 a night, this should be a 5-star experience. Even though the hotel fell short in a few ways, the people here would encourage me to come back. I'd just ask housekeeping to go over the room once more before I checked in.

A Comfortable Stay for My Cornell Visit…read more I stayed at Hotel Ithaca for two nights while attending an event at Cornell University. This is the former Ramada, and I understand the rooms were renovated a couple of years ago, although I'm not sure if all the rooms have been updated. My room was in the North Tower on the 5th floor, and it was quite comfortable! The room had two queen beds that were very comfortable, a nice-sized bathroom, and toiletries including shampoo and body lotion. One thing missing was shower gel, so I'm glad I brought my own! Bathrobes were also available for guests to use, which was a nice touch. I did have an issue with the door lock and couldn't get the double lock to work. However, I was able to use the security latch, which provided an extra level of security. One disappointment was the transportation to Cornell. We had been told by Cornell that there was a hotel shuttle to campus, but that wasn't the case. I called the hotel in advance and was told they have only one shuttle, and it goes to the airport. That was frustrating, especially since I was in town for a Cornell event. Fortunately, friends staying at nearby hotels were able to give me a ride to campus. On the plus side, the front desk staff told me there was coffee available in the morning, which I appreciated. I had also requested a room away from the ice machine and elevator. My original room assignment was on the second floor, but after reminding the front desk of my request, I was moved to the fifth floor. I was grateful they accommodated me! Overall, Hotel Ithaca is not fancy, but it's more than adequate for a comfortable stay. The beds were great, the room was a good size, and the location worked well for my visit. Just be sure to confirm transportation arrangements if you're planning to get to Cornell, as the shuttle service does not go to campus. I'd recommend staying here if you're looking for a comfortable, practical place to stay in Ithaca! And you could say that a negative wa that it's on the west side of downtown so the area is a little sketchy! Just be aware of that.

The pic below is just one of at least 12 places where you can sit in total silence and write. There were gazebos, benches, nooks inside, a tent covered breakfast area outside and that's before you get to the fireside camps where other people were "glamping" but hotel people can go sit by one of 12 fire pits! I also went out there during the day and took a nap on a leather couch in an outside tent covered living room in TOTAL SILENCE. Well not total silence. There were birds, frogs, and crickets. There were people if you wanted people (and I met two dogs!) but what struck me was the absolutely silence and solitude I could find. I desperately needed it, and I've NEVER found it like this before. If you go and don't want a balcony, room 104 is the quietest. There's a double door (room and hallway) so any children screaming in delight or adults laughing in the common area is blocked twice. Oh! And there's a trail head to buttermilk falls on property and it's right across from a Buddhist temple which just adds to the ambience. Plus the most delicious food and cider and lake views are found in Ithaca. If you need this, GO.

Our room was equipped with a small refrigerator and a microwave so we stocked up at Trader Joe's so we would have good food in our room. There is a market in the lobby that has chips, snacks, drinks, and some microwave foods. They do not sell alcohol. Parking is plentiful, easy, and free. Two bits of constructive crticism. The elevators smell horrible. There is a strange chemical smell. If you've ever gotten your hair permed, it's similar to that, and it is strong! Also, our room wasn't super clean. At check in, which was 6pm, I asked if they were able to honor my profile request of a higher floor and away from the elevator and was told from a completely blasé front desk person they didn't honor those requests and were fully booked. Considering I booked 5 months ago, seemed odd to me. He put us on the second of four floors in 211 which was directly across from the elevator and beside and below a utility closet. The worst case scenario. After trying unsuccessfully to question if this was the only remaining room like this in the entire hotel - I gave up and resigned myself to my almost $375 a night hotel room fate. The room was gross. Sticky carpet and stains all over it. Water damage and stains on the walls, holes on the walls unpatched. Scuffs everywhere. No soap in the bathroom soap dispenser. The lights by the bed didn't work to turn off the room lights above and by the tv as intended and one of the lights was completely missing the switch so could not be used at all. The only saving grace was the breakfast which was actually pretty nice. Well stocked and with egg white and cheese omelets, juice, cereal and oatmeal. Partnered with another recent Holiday Inn Express experience in Baltimore where we showed up at 8pm after an 8+ hour travel day from Iceland and they said they just didn't have the room we'd booked months ahead available at all, I'll be marking this hotel brand off my list entirely. Never again.
