However, if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, warm, romantic place to stay-you will feel yourself home. And her awesome family style breakfast on a lovely patio with astonishing views of the Lake will make your stay even more romantic. Over 24 hours after our arrival, we still had not been provided with a garbage bag or can. When we complained to Diane about the service and accommodations she said "you should be grateful for the gift you received". She also asked us if we'd like to just leave, without a refund. We told her we would be staying, that we were still unhappy, and that we still needed that garbage bag. She also told us that we would need to clean the kitchen before we left, the kitchen that was dirty when we arrived. I let her know that all of the dishes had been present upon arrival. She had the nerve to call the kitchen "well used" in her review of us. That kitchen was dirty, but it was in that state when we arrived and I would be leaving it as I had found it. We ate every meal out, nothing was prepared in that kitchen. As the weekend went on, we were in need of additional toilet paper. Cumulatively, we had received 1 roll for 5 women, with a Friday through Monday stay. I sent Diane a message requesting toilet paper at 9AM and again at 3:45PM. Sometime after 4PM she replied, letting us know that additional toilet paper could be found in the room connected to the first small room. We used a butterknife to pop the eye and hook lock on that door, as this is the door that only locked from the outside and we didn't have access to. On our last evening there, we returned to the Villa around 10PM. Upon entering, the smell of dirty dog was pungent. No dogs had been seen. We made our way to bed. At 3AM we were woken up by the sounds of the voices of other guests. These guests were utilizing the common room located just outside our divider, they were also using every single light in the room. Much to my dismay, my shutter door doesn't really block light or sound, so I laid awake in my bed made of wicker. The guests returned to their rooms around 4:30AM. At 6AM we were woken up again, this time by the barks of the dirty dog in the room at the end of the hall. In summary, we were duped. We spent $1,750 for 3-nights at this location. $250 of that was a cleaning fee, something surely not happening at the Cayuga Lake Inn. We were treated like garbage and made to feel unwelcome. I will never recommend this location to a single person I know. I have no doubts that this used to be a beautiful location, but it is horribly maintained. Diane's knick-knacks and open books line every surface in the rooms. You can write messages in the layers of dust on the tables. If you're reading this Diane, your common room table says "Hi, Diane!" I'd love for you to go check. Wipe it while you're there, you can use the paper towels we brought from home. Stay away from the Cayuga Lake Inn. Beware of outdated positive reviews. There is no one working at this location except Diane, and she sucks.

I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. Admiral Peabody's was an affordable, clean and dog friendly hotel in Watkins Glen that we totally lucked into because it didn't even come up on our searches! This place totally exceeded our expectations. Admiral Peabody's doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like your own lakeside cottage. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. I'm not sure how old this yelp listing is but the owner now is Luke. HE IS THE BEST. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Watkins Glen, don't pass up this hidden gem.

There are even outlets on both sides of the bed (useful for cpap machines!). We had tons of pillows, soft blankets, both heating and cooling in the room, bottles of water, a Keurig in the hallway for tea and coffee, honestly everything I could have hoped for. Breakfast is a cold continental-style but I was impressed with it. I had bagels and cream cheese with fresh berries and a lovely cup of coffee. There were so many choices! They have cereal, yogurt, and even dairy-free milk available. The kitchen cabinets and drawers are clearly labeled so it's easy to find utensils and plates. The hosts thought of everything! The house is located along a fairly busy road so you can hear the traffic out on the porch (personally I find it a calming sound). There are approximately a million very loud bugs outdoors at nighttime due to the proximity to the forest. The windows are great and I could hardly hear any of that from inside - just peace and quiet. Bonus - the location is just a few minutes from the state park with lovely waterfalls and a few minutes the other direction from several cute restaurants in the town. Both are well connected to the local food and wine scene and they introduced us to a couple of the vineyards that are within a ten-minute drive of the Inn and pointed us to an amazing restaurant in Hammondsport--again a short drive from the Inn. Although we didn't have enough time to get there, the Inn is also right next door to a brewery and distillery. Our weather was less than ideal, but it didn't matter. We spent a couple of hours one afternoon hanging out in the historic cupola room with complimentary hot drinks and cookies. As history buffs, we were impressed that the Inn is on the National Registry of Historic Places and was also a stop on the Underground Railroad. It was a perfect environment for the family to catch up before another lovely meal in the Hammondsport area. The Inn offers a full and hearty breakfast each morning--enough food that you may want to skip lunch. They are also more than accommodating for each member of our family's varied dietary preferences; both the vegans and carnivores left the table fully satisfied. We will definitely return, and maybe on our next visit we can hit that brewery!
