We had a great experience at Best Vac. My wife and I drove about 45 minutes and arrived around 15 minutes before closing, but Kelly welcomed us and helped right away. She walked us through the two vacuums we were considering, explained the differences clearly, and let us try both on carpet and hardwood. We never felt rushed or pressured, even though they stayed open a bit past closing. We also got the mint green color we wanted. I expect like most folks reading this, we don't buy a vacuum cleaner very often and have one repaired even less frequently. We just did both....and are QUITE happy we chose Best Vac in St Charles to get this accomplished. Ron, Kelly and Paul were all very generous with their time and certainly well versed in the products they repair and sell. In our case we had 2 Kenmore cannister vacs with combined ages of 50 years old or so. Neither worked well at all. Paul managed to take parts from both of them, added some new filters etc and boom! We have 1 fully functional vacuum cleaner. We also purchased a brand new one and Ron stayed late answering our questions and going over some of the features with us. Vacuum cleaners have gotten more versatile over the decades! Honestly, there was a different vacuum store closer to our home than Best Vac. After several hours of shopping online for a new vacuum, I came across the Best Vac website. I found it interesting that the recommended brand names that you find at your local retailers and Amazon were NOT listed as choices on their site. That intrigued me enough to reach out via email to discuss my needs over a holiday weekend. Surprisingly, Ron, one of the owners of Best Vac replied quickly and suggested that I stop in since I lived relatively close by. My wife and I went to the store the day after the holiday and met with Ron who asked a lot of questions about our needs and then suggested a few options. Ron spent about an hour with us and at no point was ever pushy to make a sale. We finally settled on a new vacuum by a company that we never heard of but who's been in business since the 60s, Riccar. It is an upright model with a hepa bag, a 40 ft. cord and it weighs just 10 lbs. The vacuum is such a pleasure to use and it was a thrill to throw the Shark vacuum with the filthy plastic canister in the garbage! Overall, we're so happy that we ran across Best Vac. Ron is terrific to deal with, is very knowledgeable and gave us very fair in store pricing. Before we left we also purchased a cordless combination vacuum/mop by Hizerio that Ron showed us (at our request). It is another great time saving tool. After using it at home this last week, my wife and I decided to buy two more, one for each of our kids for Christmas! Lastly, I'd just like to say that it was such a pleasure to do face-to-face in person shopping instead of using Amazon!! I took my three year old Dyson in to be re-paired and was asked for a $20 deposit just to look at it. The $20 would go towards any repair I had done. After a four day follow up I was told to come in and was advised that several parts were needed for my Dyson and the parts were on a delayed backorder. The woman advised me that the cost of the repairs would warrant me to purchase a new vacuum which they sold there. I decided to decline and look further into repairing my three year old Dyson Driving to the Dyson Service Center in Schaumburg I was in and out within 10 minutes after the tech, Marco, lubricated and did a minor adjustment to my machine at no cost. Best vacuum definitely does not look out for your pocketbook or repairs but is more interested in gouging the customers of Saint Charles!!! If you have a Dyson vacuum I would suggest going to the Dyson Service Center in Schaumburg for repairs not a rip-off!! read more

'Bit hard to get excited about vacuums, or their repair - but you just might when you walk into this store. :) Immaculately clean (makes sense... doesn't it?), spacious and well organized, you can immediately see they focus in on quality products, and have a sense of orderliness. We were there for a rug cleaner repair. The soft spoken man at the counter was able to tell us, based on symptoms, what the likely cause was (clogged heater), and the 2 options for fixing it (repair heater element ($$), or bypass the heater element ($) in which case the hot water from the tap will not get reheated in the machine - but we won't have the problem again in the future. We agreed if it was what he thought, he could do repair option 2 without calling us. Perfect! Took a look around the store - ended up buying a few cleaning items to try - they had some great products that I've not seen elsewhere, and were wiling to answer all of my dumb questions. (By the way - loved their carpet cleaning powder - works great - longer term will tell though.) Repair prices were reasonable/fair. Would I recommend: Yes Would I return: Yes read more

These guys were great - found them here on yelp - had a problem with my dyson - with the pandemic all dyson repair places are closed - Best Vac was accepting drop offs - they were honest that it might take a few days but sooner than I expected they called me with the issue - gave me a price (super reasonable) and had my dyson fixed and ready for pick up in a way shorter time than I expected. Pick up was also touchless - paid over the phone and they placed my device on the cart outside when I pulled in and called. Big fan of this place and I highly recommend it for repair. Through the window I could see some of the merchandise they have and I will be there when they open to do some shopping. read more

Best Vac surely knows a lot about central vacuum systems! Best Vac replaced or "retrofitted" my central vacuum system today. They came to my house; reviewed my existing system installed in 1979, recommended replacements and gave me a flexible installation schedule. I liked that the recommended replacement parts were not necessarily the most expensive possibilities. The replacement parts did address my concerns. The new central vac system added an electric power head with an On/Off button on the wand. Best Vac replaced 6 wall vacuum inlets and installed the new "main" unit in under 4 hours. The price I paid was less than their estimate and the price was reasonable. The new central vacuum is MUCH quieter and more powerful than the old system. THANKS!!! read more

Several months ago, I took my Sears Kenmore vacuum cleaner to Best Vac for a repair. The connection between the hose and the canister was defective, which led to the vacuum motor running intermittently when it was plugged in but not turned on at the wand. The service person refused to let me plug it in out in the show room so I could demonstrate the problem, so I left it. When I picked it up, the repair person told he he could not find any problem. I took it home to use and the problem reappeared immediately. My husband took it back in this week and got the same refusal to plug it in out in the front, even after he explained what happened last time. This problem is some sort of defect with the electrical connection between the hose and canister, and I am afraid of a fire or a shock of some sort. We will be finding another repair facility to use. read more

I agree with Dawn M. Its very hard to get excited about vacuums. I dropped my vac off on Saturday, had an estimate on Monday and it was ready for pickup the following Saturday. This is the fastest service EVER on vacuum repairs. And, the people are all so genuinely nice. A very pleasant experience for a job I absolutely hate (vacuuming). As a side note, if you need an inexpensive vacuum, they do sell trade-ins that are refurbished and unclaimed repairs. read more

Very knowledgeable about cleaning and care of your house. I agree with the others, this is not an exciting thing, but if you are going to do it it's nice to have a place to get the things you need to do it right. I had looked at Miele vacs online and went there to evaluate my options. They were willing to allow me to adjust the attachment bundle so that it better met my needs. They have a deal where they cover the sales tax, free yearly vac checkup, free yearly carpet cleaning rental. My general feeling was that they were about $20 more than the online price and I wasn't certain I would use the extra services, but I like supporting local business (otherwise there won't be any!) and I've been in the store before and always been impressed with their knowledge and service. When the vac stopped working suddenly after 13 months, they fixed it quickly for free. Given what I paid for this vac I expect reliability so this place saved Miele's preverbal back side and makes me glad that I got it here. This is the kind of local business that you don't think about but should definitely be supported! Great service, convenient to have nearby, knowledgeable. read more

This is a family business that takes care of the little annoying repairs as well as carrying several full lines of first-class vacuum cleaners. Yesterday I replaced a Hepa filter in my Miele vacuum. Several months ago, I needed help reattaching my hose - a plastic part had broken. They are conveniently located right off Randall Road and make my vacuum cleaner life so trouble free. I took my vacuum here again this October 2014 and I have a Dyson, the older model before the ball. It was not inexpensive to get the full cleaning (99.00) and new belt and filter however, it works as if it were new again. I am so very pleased. They did a great job and got it done five days from when I dropped it off which I thought was pretty good too. Years ago I need something magical to work on some pet stains and was referred to Best Vac. The store was sparkling clean, very well organized and the staff was amazing. They listened to what I had to say, handed me a product and I was out the door. I loved the floor cleaning liquid they suggested and knew I would be going back there for future needs, but never did because it wasn't as convenient as some of the dept stores that I visited on a regular basis. Recently, I came across their page on FB and "liked" it. I didn't realize that I had just entered myself into a drawing and I won a FREE RICCAR VACUUM!!!! I've always hated vacuuming and never understood the importance of making an investment in a good vacuum until I brought my new vacuum home and tried it out. Just like that, I will never have a dept. store vacuum ever again. It is amazing. A few days later I went back to Best Vac and purchased a carpet cleaner...they were very thorough about showing me how to operate it before sending me out the door and made it very clear that I can call or stop in with any questions or concerns. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We bought a Miele vacuum from them about 10 years ago. We have had no problems with it and only replaced bags. A few days ago it shut off while vacuuming, and being a "handyman", looked on the internet for a fix. No problem, I can fix this. Halfway through the fix the spring form the cord reel came undone, and I immediately stopped and brought it to Best Vac. I explained what happened and knew that I just cost myself a lot of money by trying to save a couple bucks. When they called and told me it was ready for pick up and how much it would cost, I was floored. I expected 3 times the amount. To show my appreciation, I asked them to do a tune-up, because I have never had one done. Again, they floored me by saying that the repair they did was pretty much a tune-up, and I didn't need any additional work. How can you beat that? You can't get that kind of service from a big box store. read more
